Choosing
Should you build cross-platform, native or a web app?
For most app projects, we use React Native. It shares a codebase across iOS and Android, while allowing native modules where a feature needs them. That gives you a shared build to maintain across both platforms. We choose a native approach when the app needs deep device features.
Native apps use Swift for iPhone and Kotlin for Android. They fit work involving heavy graphics, complex background tasks or new platform features at launch. The trade-off is maintaining a separate codebase for each platform. Flutter is another cross-platform option: it uses Dart and draws its own interface, which suits a heavily branded design intended to look the same across devices. Your team would need to be comfortable working in Dart.
A progressive web app is worth considering for a staff tool. It skips store review, though it will not appear in the app stores unless packaged for them. On iPhone, it can ask to send notifications only after the user adds it to the Home Screen.
Local
What Western Australian businesses need from an app
Mining and primary industries such as agriculture, forestry and fishing give field teams jobs to manage away from the office. An app for those teams needs forms, photos, signatures and location information for each job, with the ability to work offline and sync when signal returns. Staff at the office need the information back with the job record.
Finance, insurance and property service businesses with an existing web platform might need customers to use the same accounts and data in an app. That approach suits frequent use: the app connects to the existing backend, so customers do not have to start with a separate account and the business has one place for its data.
Rules
What an app project in Australia has to handle
The Australian accessibility guidelines recommend WCAG 2.2 Level AA as a minimum for digital goods and services. We design your app screens and flows for iOS and Android with that recommendation in mind, so accessibility is considered during screen design.
Australian card surcharging rules affect checkout settings. We set up checkout without a surcharge on the affected card networks. For digital content and subscriptions used in the app, we also account for the stores’ purchase rules; physical goods and services used outside the app need a different payment route.
How it runs
How an app project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India time is 2h30m behind Perth. The shared board gives you a place to review progress and leave feedback between calls.

Discover
we learn about your business, audience and goals, then agree the scope with you. Bring the main task you want people to complete so we can discuss the work around it.
- 02
Design
we prepare iOS and Android screens and refine them with your feedback before writing code. You review the flows while changes are still being made to the designs.
- 03
Test the prototype
put the clickable design in front of a few customers or staff. Their feedback helps you spot a confusing screen while it is cheaper to change.
- 04
Prepare the release
we set up analytics and crash reporting for the first release, so you can see screen use, drop-off and device crashes.
- 05
Submit
we handle the store listings, submission and review under your own developer accounts. You retain those accounts for your business.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
A few practical details make the first discussion more useful.
- List the tasks users must complete in the first release, in the order they would do them.
- Note the website, CRM, booking system or payment provider involved, whether each has an API and who holds admin access.
- Plan developer accounts in your company’s name and check the D-U-N-S number needed for organisation verification.
- Allow for a closed test before production if you use a new personal Google Play developer account.
- For an app with login, prepare a working demo account and a live backend for submission; leave room for fixes and resubmission.
Cost & time
What affects app development cost and time
The work changes with the flows, connections and screens in your scope.
User types
customers, drivers and staff each need their own screens and permissions, even with a shared backend.
Live features
tracking, chat and presence need persistent connections and more backend work than screens that request data.
Integrations
payment gateways, maps, booking systems and hardware each need setup, testing and handling for failures.
Screen design
custom animation, additional languages and tablet layouts add design and testing across screens.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid with app development
Forced sign-up
let people see the value first when significant account features do not require a login.
An early notification request
ask when the benefit is clear, such as after an order, instead of at first launch.
Outdated privacy answers
update Google Play’s Data safety form when you add an analytics or advertising SDK.
Accounts held by an agency
keep developer accounts, signing access and code in your business’s name so the app is easier to move.
Questions

Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to develop an app?
There is no fixed price. The main drivers include whether you already have a backend with a documented API, whether a new backend and admin panel are needed, and whether the app includes purchases or subscriptions. We send a free quote once the scope is agreed.
How do I choose an app development company?
Look for a working arrangement that gives you direct access to the people designing and building your product. Ask how you will review the work and give feedback as decisions are made. With us, you talk directly to the people doing the design and development.
What is included when you set up push notifications?
We set up targeted push notifications using a sending service, along with rules for who receives each message and when. The app also needs settings that let people switch off notification categories they do not want, so those preferences are part of the work.
Can the app share data with my website?
Yes. We build a shared backend for your app, website and admin tools. The admin panel gives staff a place to edit content, look up customers, issue refunds and block abusive accounts without calling a developer for each task.
What happens after my app launches?
Plan maintenance releases and review how people use the app. Retention, task drop-off and the crash-free rate show how a release is performing. Some JavaScript and content fixes can go out over the air, while native code changes and new permissions still need a store release.
Does my app need an account deletion option?
Yes, if people can create accounts in the app. Apple requires a way to start account deletion inside the app; disabling the account alone is not enough. Google Play also requires an in-app deletion path and a web link for requesting deletion of the account and associated data.
