Choosing
Should you choose cross-platform or native development?
Cross-platform development suits many apps built around accounts, forms, bookings, payments or content. React Native shares most code across iOS and Android while using each platform’s own interface components. It uses JavaScript or TypeScript, so web developers can contribute, and some logic can be shared with a React website.
Flutter is another cross-platform option. It uses Dart and draws its own interface, which suits a heavily branded design where you want screens to look identical across platforms. Your team would need to be comfortable working in Dart and maintaining that interface.
Native development uses Swift for iPhone and Kotlin for Android. It fits apps built around deep device features, heavy graphics, complex background work or new platform features at launch, though you have separate codebases to build and maintain. We usually choose React Native and add native modules where a feature needs them; when deep device features drive the product, we choose native development.
Local
What Missouri businesses need from an app
Missouri’s wholesale and retail businesses need an app to fit the way customers buy. A shop serving repeat customers might prioritise reordering, saved payment details and a fast checkout, with notifications timed around a useful action.
Manufacturing and agriculture are among Missouri’s major industries. For a business with maintenance or inspection staff in the field, the useful screens could be job forms with photos, signatures and location, ready to sync with the office when a signal returns.
Businesses in the St. Louis and Kansas City metropolitan areas that already run a customer web platform have another decision to make: an app for frequent use can reuse the existing accounts and data, so customers do not need a separate identity for each service.
Rules
What a United States app project has to handle
For a state or local government app, the US accessibility rule calls for WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We set up the screen design and accessibility testing against that standard as part of the build, so the work covers the app’s screens and flows before release.
The checkout also needs to match what you sell. Apple requires in-app purchase for digital content, features and subscriptions used in the app. For physical goods or services used outside it, we set up another payment route, such as a card gateway.
How it runs
How an app development project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is ahead of the mainland US, and the gap changes with daylight saving time. The shared board gives you a place to review progress and leave feedback across that time difference.

Discover
we learn about your business, audience and goals, then agree the scope with you. Bring the task you want customers or staff to complete.
- 02
Design
we prepare iOS and Android screens and refine them with your feedback before writing code. You can check that the flow reflects how your service works.
- 03
Test the prototype
put the clickable screens in front of a few customers or staff. Changes at this stage cost far less than changes after the screens are built.
- 04
Build
we develop the shared codebase for both platforms and add native modules where a feature needs them. You can review the work against the agreed scope.
- 05
Submit
we handle store listings, submission and review under your developer accounts. For an app with login, have a working demo account and live backend ready, and leave room for fixes and resubmission.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
These details help us agree a useful first release.
- Systemslist your website, CRM, booking system, ERP software and payment provider; note which have an API and who holds admin access.
- Privacy policyhave a policy that matches the data the app collects, ready to link from the app and its store listing.
- Apple account deletionidentify whether users can create an account, so the app can let them start deleting it inside the app.
- Google Play deletionplan an in-app deletion path and a web link for deletion requests if users can create accounts.
- First-release taskswrite down what users must do in the order they will do it, from the first action onwards.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline
The amount of design, integration and testing work shapes both.
Existing systems
a documented backend API reduces the work; a new backend and admin panel can be as large a job as the app itself.
Integrations
each payment gateway, booking system, map or piece of hardware needs setup, testing and failure handling.
Screen design
custom animation, extra languages, right-to-left scripts and tablet layouts add design and testing across screens.
User-generated content
a posting feature also needs filtering, reporting, user blocking and published contact details for Apple’s requirements.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid when building an app
Putting sign-up first
let people use an app without logging in when it has no significant account-based features. Apple’s guidelines ask for that access, and people can see the value before registering.
Leaving access with an agency
keep developer accounts, signing access and code repositories in your business’s name, so moving the app later is less difficult.
Adding an SDK without updating privacy answers
include data collected by third-party analytics or advertising SDKs in Google Play’s Data safety form.
Questions
Asked by businesses in Missouri
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to develop an app?
There is no fixed price. The main drivers include the number of user roles, the backend and admin tools needed, and the level of offline work. Saving the last loaded data is a smaller task than editing records offline and resolving sync conflicts. We send a free quote once the scope is agreed.
How do I choose an app development company?
Check who owns the code and who controls the store accounts before you appoint a developer. With us, you own your domain, content and code without lock-in. We handle store listings, submission and review under your own developer accounts, so those accounts remain with your business.
Can the app share data with our website?
Yes. We build a shared backend for your app, website and admin tools. That gives each product a connection to the same backend rather than requiring a separate system for the app. Tell us which existing systems you need the app to work with when you discuss the scope.
Can you add push notifications?
Yes. We set up targeted push notifications for the app. Ask for permission when the benefit is clear, such as after an order, instead of using the request at first launch. On Android 13 and later, notifications stay off until the user allows them.
What happens after the app launches?
We provide ongoing support for bug fixes, operating system updates and new features. Plan regular maintenance releases: Google Play requires new apps and updates to target a recent Android API level, and an out-of-date app can become unavailable to new users on newer devices.
How will we know where users have trouble?
Put analytics and crash reporting in the first release. Tools such as Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics or Sentry show screen use, drop-off points and devices that crash. After launch, look at how often people return and the crash-free rate to assess what changed in a release.
