What you get

What’s included in mobile app development

  • App design

Screens and flows designed for iOS and Android conventions.

  • Cross-platform build

One React Native codebase for both platforms, with native modules where needed.

  • Backend & APIs

Accounts, data, notifications and admin tools behind the app.

  • Push notifications

Timely, targeted notifications that bring people back.

  • Payments & subscriptions

In-app purchases and subscriptions on both stores.

  • Store launch

App Store and Google Play listings, submission and release.

Tools we use: React Native, Expo, Swift, Kotlin, Firebase, Node.js.

Choosing

Should you choose a cross-platform, native or web app?

We usually build with React Native, sharing a codebase across iOS and Android and adding native modules where a feature needs them. That gives you a way to cover both platforms without maintaining an entirely separate app for each. The choice still needs to account for the features your users expect on their devices.

Native development suits an app built around deep device features, heavy graphics or complex background work. It also means maintaining separate Swift and Kotlin codebases. A progressive web app is another option for a staff tool: it avoids store review, but it will not appear in the stores unless packaged for them. On an iPhone, it can ask to send notifications only after it has been added to the Home Screen.

Start with what the app must do on the device. We can then discuss the platform approach in light of those features and the work involved in maintaining it.

Local

What Toronto businesses need from an app

Toronto has financial services and technology businesses with customers already using web platforms. Where use is frequent, an app can give those customers access to the same accounts and data through a shared backend.

Toronto's life sciences sector includes services where appointments need managing. A clinic app can bring booking, reminders and payments together, with a staff view of the day's schedule.

Toronto's factories and distribution warehouses have delivery and field work to coordinate. Teams working away from a signal need job forms, photos, signatures and location details that sync back to the office.

Rules

What a mobile app project in Canada has to handle

Canadian private-sector privacy rules affect how personal information is collected, used and disclosed. We account for data collected by the app and its third-party software when setting up the Google Play Data safety answers, so the submission reflects what the app collects.

Checkout needs to match what you sell. Digital content and subscriptions used in the app generally use the stores' in-app payment systems; physical goods and services used outside it need another payment method. Stripe is available to businesses in Canada, so we can discuss it for accepting those payments.

How it runs

How a mobile app project runs with us

We work remotely from India. India is ahead of Eastern Time, and the gap changes with daylight saving time. Video calls, WhatsApp and a shared project board give us ways to discuss decisions and keep work moving across that difference.

  1. 01

    Discover

We learn about your business, audience and goals, then agree the scope with you. Bring the task you want users to complete first.

  2. 02

    Design

We design the iOS and Android screens and refine them with your feedback before writing code. Review the flows with the people who will use them.

  3. 03

    Prototype

Put the clickable design in front of a few customers or staff. Their feedback helps you change screens before they are built.

  4. 04

    Build and test

We build the agreed product and test it on real devices and browsers. You review the work as it takes shape.

  5. 05

    Submit

We handle listings, submission and review under your own developer accounts. You retain access to those accounts.

Checklist

What to have ready before we talk

A few practical details make the first discussion more useful.

  • List the tasks users need in the first release, in the order they will do them.
  • Note the systems the app must connect to, whether they have APIs and who holds admin access.
  • Have a privacy policy that matches the data the app collects; it needs links in the app and its Apple store listing.
  • If the app has a login, prepare a working demo account and a live backend for Apple submission.
  • Check your Google Play account typenew personal accounts need a closed test before production release.

Cost & time

What affects the cost and timeline

The scope determines how much needs building, connecting and testing.

  • User roles

Customers, drivers and staff each need their own screens and permissions.

  • Live features

Tracking, chat and presence require persistent connections and additional backend work.

  • Integrations

Payment gateways, booking systems and hardware each add setup, testing and failure handling.

  • Existing backend

A documented API can reduce the work; a new backend and admin panel can be as substantial as the app.

  • User content

Apps with user-generated content need reporting, blocking and filtering tools, plus published contact details.

Avoid

Mistakes to avoid

  • Wrapping a website in an app shell

Give people useful app functionality; a repackaged site risks Apple rejection.

  • Demanding sign-up before showing value

Let people use features without logging in when the app does not have significant account-based features.

  • Requesting notification permission immediately

Ask when the benefit is clear, such as after an order. On Android 13 and later, notifications stay off until the user allows them.

Questions

Asked by businesses in Toronto

Page updated 5 November 2026

How much does it cost to develop an app?

There is no fixed price: the work changes with the scope. Offline editing and later syncing with conflict handling take more work than showing last-loaded data, while a shared backend affects how accounts and data are handled. Ask us for a quote once the scope is agreed.

How should I choose an app development company?

Look for a team that can explain its screen design and technology choices in terms of your product. Screens should follow iOS and Android conventions. With React Native, JavaScript or TypeScript developers can contribute, and some logic can be shared with a React web app.

Are notifications and subscriptions included?

We build push notifications, in-app purchases and subscriptions for both stores. For notifications, we set up a sending service, rules for who receives each message and when, and in-app settings so people can turn off categories they do not want.

Who owns the app code?

You own your code, content and domain, with no lock-in. That gives you control over those parts of the product after the work is delivered. Discuss the handover with us when agreeing the scope so you know what you will receive.

What support is available after launch?

We provide ongoing support for bug fixes, operating-system updates and new features. Regular Android maintenance releases also need attention to the target API level. JavaScript and content fixes can sometimes go out over the air; native code changes and new permissions still need a store release.

How can I tell if people keep using the app?

Track retention and the point where people leave the main task, alongside the crash-free rate. We include analytics and crash reporting in the first release, using tools such as Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics or Sentry to see screen use, drop-off and device crashes.
