Mobile app developers for Ontario, Canada businesses
Get an app built for the people who use your business, with accounts and admin tools behind it and store listings ready for release. From our studio in India, we at MSH Technologies work with Ontario clients on the screens, the backend and the launch. You work remotely with us, sharing feedback as the product takes shape.

What you get
What’s included in mobile app development
App design
Screens and flows designed for iOS and Android conventions.
Cross-platform build
One React Native codebase for both platforms, with native modules where needed.
Backend & APIs
Accounts, data, notifications and admin tools behind the app.
Push notifications
Timely, targeted notifications that bring people back.
Payments & subscriptions
In-app purchases and subscriptions on both stores.
Store launch
App Store and Google Play listings, submission and release.
Tools we use: React Native, Expo, Swift, Kotlin, Firebase, Node.js.
Choosing
Should you choose cross-platform or native development?
For an app built around bookings, accounts, forms, payments or content, a cross-platform approach is often a good fit. React Native and Flutter share most of the code across iOS and Android, so there is less separate platform work to maintain. We generally choose React Native for this kind of app and use native development when deeper device features call for it.
Flutter draws its own interface. That suits a heavily branded product where you want screens to look identical across platforms and are happy to work in Dart. Native development in Swift and Kotlin fits heavy graphics, complex background work or new platform features at launch, but you have two codebases to build and maintain.
The choice affects how much platform-specific work sits behind your screens. We will look at what people need to do in your app and the device features those tasks require, then agree the scope with you before design begins.
Local
What Ontario businesses need from an app
Shops in Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area can give repeat customers a quicker route to an order. Reordering, loyalty, saved payment details and a fast checkout give the app a clear use between visits.
Manufacturers in the Golden Horseshoe may need staff to see and update job information from a phone while the office works in admin tools. We build a shared backend for the app, website and admin tools, keeping accounts and data in one place.
Mining and forestry organisations in Northern Ontario can use field apps for forms, photos, signatures and job locations. When a connection returns, those records sync with the office, giving staff a way to keep working away from a signal.
Rules
What your app project in Canada has to handle
PIPEDA sets federal rules for how private-sector organisations collect, use and disclose personal information in commercial activity. For your build, we map what the app collects and why, and set up consent choices in the relevant flows so those choices are part of the product design.
Checkout also needs the right payment route. Apple and Google require their in-app purchase or billing systems for digital goods and subscriptions, while physical goods and services need another route. We set up payment and subscription flows around what you sell; Stripe is available to businesses in Canada for accepting payments.
How it runs
How an app project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is 9h to 12h30m ahead of Canada in winter; Eastern Time moves 1 hour closer during daylight saving time. The shared board gives you a place to leave feedback and see the work as it moves forward across the time difference.
- 01
Discover
We learn about your business, audience and goals, then agree the scope with you. Bring the tasks you want people to complete in the app.
- 02
Design
We prepare iOS and Android screens and refine them with your feedback before writing code. You can check the flows before they become a build.
- 03
Prototype
Put the clickable design in front of a few customers or staff. Their feedback gives you a chance to change screens before they are built.
- 04
Test
We get test builds onto your phone through TestFlight or Google Play testing tracks. Use them in real situations and share what needs attention.
- 05
Launch
We handle store listings, submission and review under your own developer accounts. You keep those accounts in your business's hands.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Bring these details to the conversation.
- List the website, booking, CRM or other systems the app must use, including their APIs and who has admin access.
- Start registering company developer accounts; organisation accounts need a D-U-N-S number for verification.
- Check the closed-testing requirement if you plan to use a new personal Google Play developer account.
- Prepare a privacy policy that matches the data the app collects; Apple requires links in the listing and app.
- Plan a working demo account and live backend for submission if the app has a login.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timing of your app
The work changes with what the app needs to do.
Offline use
Showing previously loaded data is modest work; creating and editing records offline requires later syncing and conflict handling.
Live features
Tracking, chat and presence need persistent connections and more backend work than screens that load data on request.
Screen design
Custom animation, additional languages, right-to-left scripts and tablet layouts add design and testing across screens.
User content
Posts or other user-generated material need filtering, reporting, user blocking and published contact details for Apple's requirements.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid when building an app
Wrapping the website
An app shell around an existing site risks rejection. Give people useful functions that make installing the app worthwhile.
Asking everyone to sign in first
Let people use the app without a login when it has no significant account-based features.
Requesting notifications on opening
Ask when the benefit is clear, such as after an order. On Android 13 and later, notifications remain off until the user allows them.
Adding an SDK without updating privacy details
Include data collected by analytics or advertising SDKs in Google Play's Data safety form.
Questions
Asked by businesses in Ontario
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to have an app developed?
There is no fixed price. The number of user types affects the screens and permissions needed, while an existing backend with a documented API reduces the work compared with building a backend and admin panel from scratch. We send a free quote once the scope is agreed.
How should I choose an app development company?
Choose a team that can explain its platform choice and show how it will design the screens your users need. With React Native, the code is written in JavaScript or TypeScript and uses each platform's interface components. Web developers can contribute, and some logic can be shared with a React website.
What should the first release include?
Include the essential user flows, analytics and crash reporting. Tools such as Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics show which screens people use, where they give up and which devices crash. If you include push notifications, we set up a sending service, audience and timing rules, and in-app category settings.
Can users delete their accounts in the app?
Yes. If your app lets people create an account, both stores require an in-app route to deletion. Apple requires people to be able to start deleting their account there; Google Play also requires deletion of associated data and a web link where people can request it.
Who owns the app and its code?
You own your code, content and domain, with no lock-in. Those assets stay with your business, so you can decide how the product is maintained and developed. Keep the relevant code and domain details available to the people responsible for the app on your side.
What happens after the app launches?
Ongoing support covers bug fixes, updates for new iOS and Android versions, and new features. Google Play also requires apps and updates to target a recent Android API level. Some JavaScript and content fixes can go out over the air; native changes and new permissions still need a store release.
