What you get

What’s included in mobile app development

  • App design

Screens and flows designed for iOS and Android conventions.

  • Cross-platform build

One React Native codebase for both platforms, with native modules where needed.

  • Backend & APIs

Accounts, data, notifications and admin tools behind the app.

  • Push notifications

Timely, targeted notifications that bring people back.

  • Payments & subscriptions

In-app purchases and subscriptions on both stores.

  • Store launch

App Store and Google Play listings, submission and release.

Tools we use: React Native, Expo, Swift, Kotlin, Firebase, Node.js.

Choosing

Should you build a cross-platform app or go native?

We usually build with React Native, sharing a codebase across iOS and Android and adding native modules where a feature needs them. It uses JavaScript or TypeScript and renders each platform’s own interface components. If you have web developers, they can contribute, and some logic can be shared with a React web app. For an app that needs deep device features, we go native.

Flutter is another cross-platform option. It uses Dart and draws its own interface, so it suits a heavily branded design where you want screens to look identical across platforms. Your team also needs to be comfortable working in Dart. Custom design gives you more control over the interface, with a different language to maintain.

A progressive web app can suit a staff tool and avoids store review. There are trade-offs. It does not appear in app stores unless packaged for them, and on iPhone it can ask to send notifications only after someone adds it to the Home Screen. Your choice starts with where people need to find the product and what they need it to do.

Local

What Saskatchewan organisations need from an app

Agriculture, mining and energy are part of Saskatchewan’s economy. If your people work in the field, an app can give them job forms for photos, signatures and location, with records synced to the office when signal returns. Agree which information staff must capture on each job before adding screens; that gives the field and office teams a shared view of the work.

Saskatchewan also has post-secondary institutions. For an institution with an existing web platform, an app for frequent users can reuse the same accounts, data and backend. That gives people access to the same information across the website and app, while the organisation has a shared system to maintain. The decision starts with the tasks people return to often.

Rules

What an app project in Canada has to handle

PIPEDA sets federal rules for private-sector collection, use and disclosure of personal information in commercial activity. Tell us what your app collects and how you use or disclose it; we set up screens that explain those choices to users. Where the app allows account creation, we also set up an in-app deletion path and a web link for deletion requests, as Google Play requires.

How it runs

How an app project runs with us

We are a studio in India and work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is 11h30m ahead of Saskatchewan. We use the shared board to keep decisions and work visible across that difference.

  1. 01

    Discover

We learn about your business, audience and goals, then agree the scope with you. Bring the tasks you want people to complete so we can discuss the first release.

  2. 02

    Design

We design screens for iOS and Android and refine them with your feedback before writing code. Review the flows with the people who understand the work.

  3. 03

    Test the prototype

Put the clickable design in front of a few real customers or staff. Their feedback can reveal a confusing screen while it is still cheaper to change.

  4. 04

    Submit

We handle the store listings, submission and review under your own developer accounts. You provide access to those accounts so the release stays with your business.

Checklist

What to have ready before we talk

These details help us define the first release and prepare for submission.

  • List the actions users must complete, in the order they will do them.
  • Note the website, CRM, booking, ERP or payment systems involved, their APIs and who holds admin access.
  • Check whether a new personal Google Play developer account needs a closed test before production.
  • Prepare a privacy policy that matches the information the app collects, for the listing and the app.
  • For an app with login, prepare a working demo account and live backend for Apple’s review.

Cost & time

What affects the cost and timeline of an app?

The work changes with your existing systems and the features you choose.

  • Backend and admin tools

A documented existing API can reduce the work; building both from scratch can be as large as the app itself.

  • Live features

Tracking, chat and presence need persistent connections and more backend work than screens that load data on request.

  • Interface variations

Custom animation, additional languages, right-to-left scripts and tablet layouts add design and testing across screens.

  • User-generated content

Moderation adds work, including filtering, reporting, blocking abusive users and publishing contact details for Apple’s requirements.

Avoid

Mistakes to avoid with app development

  • Wrapping a website in an app shell

Give people a reason to install it. Apple’s guidelines expect more than a repackaged website.

  • Asking for notification permission immediately

Ask when the benefit is clear, such as after an order. On Android 13 and later, notifications stay off until the user allows them.

  • Adding an analytics or advertising SDK without updating privacy answers: Include the data collected by third-party SDKs in Google Play’s Data safety form.

Questions

Asked by businesses in Saskatchewan

Page updated 5 November 2026

How much does it cost to develop an app?

There is no fixed price. The number of user types, offline editing and syncing, and notification rules all change the work. Customer and staff accounts need different flows; offline edits need conflict handling; notifications need a sending service and user settings. We send a free quote once the scope is agreed.

How do I choose an app development company?

Choose a team that can explain the whole product and how its parts fit together. Ask how staff will edit content, look up customers or handle refunds without calling a developer. If you have a website, discuss using a shared backend so accounts and data have one home.

What is included in an app build?

The scope can include push notifications, in-app purchases and subscriptions, alongside analytics and crash reporting. We can use tools such as Firebase Analytics or Crashlytics in the first release to show which screens people use, where they give up and which devices crash. Agree which features belong in your first release.

Who owns the app and its code?

You own your code, content and domain, with no lock-in. Keep the code repository, developer accounts and signing access in your business’s name too. That makes it easier to move the app if you change development partners, instead of having to recover access held in someone else’s account.

What support does an app need after launch?

Plan for bug fixes, operating-system updates and new features after release. Google Play requires apps and updates to target a recent Android API level, so schedule maintenance releases. Also watch retention, drop-off in the main task and the crash-free rate to see how people use each release.

How do payments work inside an app?

The checkout depends on what you sell. Apple requires in-app purchase for digital content, features and subscriptions used in the app; physical goods and services used outside it need another payment method. Google Play similarly requires its billing for digital goods and subscriptions, but not for physical goods or services.
