App development company in Nova Scotia
You get a mobile app built around the tasks your customers or staff need to complete. For your Nova Scotia business, we can build the iOS and Android app from a shared React Native codebase, with accounts, an admin tool and push notifications behind it. At MSH Technologies, we work with you from India and involve you in decisions as the app takes shape.

Choosing
Should you build a cross-platform, native or web app?
For an app built around accounts, forms, bookings, payments or content, a cross-platform build is a practical option. We usually use React Native, sharing a codebase across iOS and Android while using native modules where a feature needs them. It gives you both platforms without maintaining a separate app codebase for each. We choose native development when the app needs deep device features.
React Native uses JavaScript or TypeScript and renders each platform’s own interface components. If you already have web developers, they can contribute; an existing React web app may also share some logic with the mobile app. The amount of useful sharing depends on what the products need to do, so it is worth looking at the existing code before making that part of the plan.
A progressive web app is another option, particularly for a staff tool. It skips store review, although it will not appear in app stores unless packaged for them. On an iPhone, it can ask for notification permission only after the user adds it to the Home Screen. Check those limits against how your users will reach the tool.
Local
What Nova Scotia organisations need from an app
Nova Scotia’s ICT sector includes more than 500 companies. For a company planning a consumer or marketplace product, a shared mobile codebase can cover both stores, while analytics can show whether people return after installing. Agreeing on the main task users should complete gives that measurement a useful focus.
Nova Scotia’s fish exports reach 90 countries. An exporter with a field team could need job forms, photos, signatures and location records that staff can complete without signal and sync to the office later. That is a different scope from an app that only shows information already loaded on the phone.
Nova Scotia has ten universities. A university planning an account-based app should also consider the staff tools behind it: an admin panel gives staff a place to edit content, look up accounts and manage access without calling a developer.
Rules
What an app project in Canada has to handle
If your app collects personal information during commercial activity, Canada’s federal PIPEDA rules affect how that information is collected, used and disclosed. Tell us what information you need and how you intend to use it; we set up the account and data flows around those choices.
Checkout needs a decision early. Apple and Google have different billing requirements for digital purchases and physical goods or services, with some regional alternatives. We set up purchases and subscriptions for the stores and plan the appropriate payment route for what you sell. Stripe lists Canada as a country where businesses can sign up to accept payments.
How it runs
How an app project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is ahead of Atlantic time, and the gap changes with daylight saving. The shared board gives you a place to leave feedback and see the work between calls.

Discover
We learn about your business, audience and goals, then agree the scope with you. Bring the task you want people to complete and the systems the app must use.
- 02
Design
We prepare iOS and Android screens and refine them with your feedback before writing code. You can review the flow while changes are still on the screen designs.
- 03
Test on your phone
During development, we share builds through TestFlight for iPhone and Google Play testing tracks for Android. You try the app in use and send feedback.
- 04
Submit
We handle the store listings, submission and review. You review the listing information with us before release.
- 05
Prepare for review
If the app has a login, Apple expects a working demo account and a live backend. Leave room in the launch plan for fixes and resubmission if needed.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
These details help us agree on what the first release needs.
- User tasksWrite down the actions people must take, in the order they will take them.
- Existing systemsList your website, booking software and payment provider, along with API availability and who holds admin access.
- Developer accountsStart registering Apple and Google accounts in your company’s name; organisation verification needs a D-U-N-S number.
- TestersNew personal Google Play accounts must complete a closed test before production release.
- Account deletionIf users can create accounts, plan an in-app deletion route and a web request link for Google Play.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline
The scope determines how much design, development and testing the project needs.
User roles
Customers, drivers and staff each need their own screens and permissions, even with a shared backend.
Existing backend
A documented API can reduce work; a new backend and admin panel add substantial scope.
Integrations
Payments, maps, booking software and hardware each need setup, testing and failure handling.
Interface requirements
Custom animation, additional languages and tablet layouts add design and testing across screens.
Live features
Tracking, chat and presence need persistent connections and more backend work than data loaded on request.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid
Asking for sign-up too soon
Let people see value before creating an account when the app does not depend on account-based features.
Requesting notification permission at launch
Ask when the benefit is clear, such as after an order. On recent Android versions, notifications stay off until the user agrees.
Adding an analytics or advertising SDK without updating privacy answers: Check the data it collects and include it in Google Play’s Data safety form.

Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to develop an app?
There is no fixed price: the work depends on what the app needs to do. Offline editing and later syncing need more work than showing previously loaded data. Notification rules, sending services and user settings also add scope. We agree the scope with you before you commit to the build.
Which company should I choose for app development?
Choose a company that can explain its platform choice, design the screens for your users and tell you who controls store submission. We design for iOS and Android, use React Native for most apps and handle listings and submission under your own developer accounts.
Can the app use the same accounts and data as my website?
Yes. We can build a shared backend for your app, website and admin tools, so accounts and data live in one place. This is useful when customers already use your web platform frequently and you want the app to work with the same information.
Who owns the code and developer accounts?
You own your code, domain and content, with no lock-in. Keep the developer accounts, signing access and code repository in your business’s name as well. That makes the app easier to move if you decide to change who maintains it later.
What support does the app need after launch?
Plan for bug fixes, operating-system updates and new features. Google Play also requires apps and updates to target a recent Android API level. Some JavaScript and content fixes can go out over the air, but native code changes and new permissions still need a store release.
What should I measure after the app launches?
Look at whether people return and where they leave the main task, instead of treating downloads as the whole picture. Track the crash-free rate too: it helps you see whether a release improved or hurt stability. Use those observations to decide what to investigate next.
