Choosing
Should you use a website builder, WordPress or a custom site?
A hosted builder such as Wix, Squarespace or Webflow suits a small site you want to run yourself. It gives you less control over code and speed, though, and moving away later can mean rebuilding. WordPress suits teams that publish frequently and want to edit most of the site themselves. Its choice of plugins is broad, but you will need to keep it updated for security.
A custom design fits a brand, audience or set of content with specific needs. For a straightforward brief, an adapted template is an option if its layouts are reworked around your real content. Another choice is a headless setup: a custom front end connected to a separate editor. It suits heavy editing alongside a need for speed, with more parts to host and maintain.
We learn how your team works before recommending WordPress or a custom Next.js site. Tell us who will publish content and how often; that helps us choose an approach your team can use after handover.
Local
What Nova Scotia organisations need from their websites
Nova Scotia’s fish products reach customers in many countries. A supplier’s website needs product or capability pages, certifications and downloadable specifications that help prospective buyers assess the offer. A quote form should ask for enough detail to make a useful response possible.
The province’s ICT sector includes companies building technology products. A startup site needs a plain explanation of the product and a clear route to join a waitlist or book a demo, so a visitor knows what to do after reading.
Nova Scotia is also home to universities. Their websites need clear descriptions of what they offer and contact forms directed to the right inbox, so enquiries reach someone who can respond.
Rules
What a website project in Canada has to handle
If your site collects personal information for commercial activity, federal privacy rules affect how you collect, use and disclose it. We set up enquiry forms with a clear explanation of how you intend to use the details people submit.
For commercial email sign-ups, Canadian anti-spam rules require consent and an unsubscribe mechanism. We set up a consent field and an unsubscribe mechanism, with sender details and a current mailing address in the messages. You also need a process for acting on unsubscribe requests.
How it runs
How your website project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is ahead of Canada, and Atlantic Time moves closer during daylight saving time. The shared board gives you a place to leave feedback and see the work between conversations.

Discover
Tell us who buys from you, why they choose you and what visitors should do on the site. We learn about your goals and agree the scope with you.
- 02
Design
We prepare the sitemap, wireframes and page designs for desktop and mobile. You review them, and we refine the designs with your feedback before the build.
- 03
Build
We develop the site in clean code or use an editable CMS, then test it on real devices and browsers. Your team can see how the agreed pages work.
- 04
Check
You proofread every page, submit each form and confirm who receives its messages. This gives you a chance to catch small errors before visitors see them.
- 05
Launch
We set up the domain, email, analytics and Search Console, then walk your team through the handover.

Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline of a website?
The scope determines the design, build and checking work.
Page templates
Distinct layouts take more design and build effort than pages that share a template.
Features
Booking, calculators, member logins, multiple languages and CRM connections add work to design, build and test.
Content
Ready-to-publish copy and photos keep the scope smaller; adding writing, photography or translation makes it bigger.
Migration
Moving an old blog, news archive or collection of downloads means more content to transfer and check.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid when building a website
Leaving real content until the end
Put actual headings and paragraphs into the layouts early. Placeholder text can conceal a layout that will not fit your copy.
Reviewing only on a large screen
Check every page on a phone before approving the design, including the parts visitors need to tap.
Copying every old or competitor page
Choose the service pages your visitors need and that your team can keep current.
Leaving search setup until launch
Check page titles, the sitemap and any development indexing block before the site goes live.

Page updated 5 November 2026
Is website development still worth it?
A website is useful when it gives visitors a clear way to contact you and your team can keep it current. Decide who will update news, projects and job posts after launch. In analytics, track form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks as conversions, then check which pages those enquiries started from.
How much does it cost to have a website built?
There is no fixed price. The main drivers include the distinct page designs, whether you need an editor, and how ready your content is. Service descriptions, team bios, case studies and photos all need gathering. We send a free quote once we have agreed the scope with you.
Should I choose WordPress or a custom website?
Choose based on how your team will edit and manage the site. WordPress suits frequent content editing; a custom Next.js site is faster and more secure and can still include an editor. We build with either approach, so tell us who needs editing access and what they expect to change.
Can you use our existing brand?
Yes. We build on your existing logo, colours and fonts, and prepare brand assets for the web where needed. At the brief stage, agree an accessibility target too. The W3C groups WCAG success criteria into levels A, AA and AAA, and encourages using the latest version.
Will we own the website?
Yes. You own the domain, content and code. Keep the domain and hosting accounts in your business’s name and grant access to the people working on the site. That puts the accounts under your control, so you do not have to ask someone else to return your site.
What happens when someone sends an enquiry?
The form should send the message to the inbox you choose. Agree who receives quote requests and what the confirmation message says, as well as whether WhatsApp or click-to-call buttons should appear on mobile. These decisions belong in the build, while the enquiry route is being designed.
