Choosing
Should you choose cross-platform or native development?
For an app built around accounts, forms, bookings, payments or content, a cross-platform build is a practical option. We usually use React Native, sharing a codebase across iOS and Android and adding native modules when a feature needs them. That gives you coverage on both platforms without maintaining a completely separate app for each.
Native development suits an app built around deep device features, heavy graphics, complex background work or new platform features as they become available. The trade-off is maintaining separate Swift and Kotlin codebases. That decision affects the work after launch as well as the initial build, so it is worth identifying device requirements before choosing a platform.
We choose the approach around what your app needs to do. Start with the main task a customer or member of staff needs to complete, then look at the device features needed to support it. If those features call for native development, we take that route; otherwise, React Native gives us a shared foundation for both platforms.
Local
What Louisiana businesses need from an app
Tourism is an important part of Louisiana's economy, especially around Greater New Orleans. Restaurants serving repeat customers might need an app that makes reordering straightforward, keeps payment details available and sends notifications at a useful point in the order process.
Small businesses make up much of the state's business community. For a Louisiana salon or clinic taking appointments, the useful screens include booking and payment for customers, reminders, and a staff view of the day's schedule.
Louisiana's industries include processed foods and transportation equipment. If a business in one of those fields already has a frequently used web platform, an app can share its accounts and data. We build a backend that serves the app, website and admin tools, so staff have one place to work with that information.
Rules
What a United States app project has to handle
State and local government mobile apps have to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA under the ADA Title II rule. For a government project, we design the app screens with that requirement in scope, so accessibility is addressed as part of the screen work.
United States businesses can sign up to accept payments with Stripe. For physical goods or services used outside the app, we set up a payment route such as a card gateway. Digital content and subscriptions used in the app have different store billing requirements, so we plan those purchase flows accordingly.
How it runs
How an app project runs with us
We work remotely from India using video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is 10h30m to 13h30m ahead of the mainland US in winter, and 1 hour less during daylight saving time. The shared board gives you a place to leave feedback and follow the work across that time difference.
- 01
Discover
Bring a short, ordered list of what users need to do in the first release. We use it to discuss the scope, starting with the task the app needs to make possible.
- 02
Design
We design the iOS and Android screens and refine them with your feedback before writing code. You can review the flows while changes are still part of the design work.
- 03
Build
We develop the backend and APIs for accounts, data and admin tools alongside the app. Tell us who on your side needs to manage the information.
- 04
Prepare for review
If the app has a login, we prepare a working demo account and live backend for Apple. Leave room in the launch plan for a fix and resubmission if needed.
- 05
Submit
We handle store listings, submission and review under your own developer accounts. You retain control of those accounts.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Bring the details that help us understand your systems and release requirements.
- System accessList your website, CRM, booking software and payment provider, noting available APIs and who holds admin access.
- Privacy policyHave a policy that reflects what the app collects; Apple requires a link in the listing and inside the app.
- Google Play accountCheck its account type. New personal accounts need a closed test with at least 12 testers opted in for at least 14 days before production release.
- Apple account deletionIf people can create an account, plan an in-app way to start deleting it.
- Google Play deletionPlan an in-app deletion path for the account and associated data, plus a web link for deletion requests.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline?
The work grows with the behaviour and systems your app needs to support.
Live features
Tracking or chat needs persistent connections and more backend work than screens that load data on request.
Integrations
Each payment gateway, booking system, CRM or connected device adds setup, testing and failure handling.
Interface and layouts
Custom animation, additional languages and tablet layouts add design and testing across screens.
User content
Posts from users need moderation tools, including filtering, reporting and blocking, as well as published contact details.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid when building an app
Wrapping the website
Give people a useful reason to install the app. A repackaged website risks store rejection.
Requiring an early sign-up
Let people use the app without logging in when significant account-based features are not needed.
Asking for notifications immediately
Request permission when the benefit is clear, such as after an order.
Adding an analytics or advertising SDK late
Update the store privacy answers to cover data collected by the SDK as well.
Questions

Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to have an app developed?
There is no fixed price. The scope depends heavily on the number of user types and their permissions, and on how much people need to do offline. Showing previously loaded data is a smaller task than editing offline and resolving conflicts during sync. We send a free quote once the scope is agreed.
How do I choose an app development company?
Look for a team that helps you test the proposed screens with real users before building them. Put a clickable prototype in front of a few customers or staff and use their feedback to check the main task. Changing a screen at that stage costs less than changing it after it is built.
What is included in push notification work?
We set up push notifications along with the rules for who receives a message and when. The work needs a sending service, such as Firebase Cloud Messaging, and in-app settings so people can switch off notification categories they do not want. Bring examples of the messages you expect to send.
Can my web developers contribute to a React Native app?
Yes. React Native uses JavaScript or TypeScript, so web developers can contribute to the app. It renders each platform's own interface components, and an existing React web app may share some logic with it. Tell us about your web team's experience when discussing how the work will be maintained.
Who owns the app code after the project?
You own your code, content and domain, with no lock-in. That gives you control over those assets if your plans change after launch. When discussing the project, identify the people on your side who should have access to the code and content so ownership is clear to your team.
What support does an app need after launch?
Plan for bug fixes, operating system updates and new features. Google Play also requires apps and updates to target a recent Android API level, so regular maintenance releases need a place in your plans. After release, look at retention, task drop-off and the crash-free rate to understand how the app is performing.
