What you get

What’s included in mobile app development

  • App design

Screens and flows designed for iOS and Android conventions.

  • Cross-platform build

One React Native codebase for both platforms, with native modules where needed.

  • Backend & APIs

Accounts, data, notifications and admin tools behind the app.

  • Push notifications

Timely, targeted notifications that bring people back.

  • Payments & subscriptions

In-app purchases and subscriptions on both stores.

  • Store launch

App Store and Google Play listings, submission and release.

Tools we use: React Native, Expo, Swift, Kotlin, Firebase, Node.js.

Choosing

Should you choose cross-platform, native or a web app?

A cross-platform app is a practical choice when your product centres on accounts, forms, lists, maps, bookings, payments or content. Most of the code is shared across iOS and Android, so you have a common product to develop and maintain while still designing for each platform.

We usually use React Native, with native modules where a feature needs them. If your app needs deep access to device features, we go native instead. That decision affects the technical work behind the screens, so it is worth identifying those device needs when you agree the scope.

A progressive web app is another option, especially for a staff tool that does not need a conventional app-store launch. It skips store review, though it will not appear in the stores unless packaged for them. On an iPhone, it can ask to send notifications only after the user adds it to the Home Screen. That limitation deserves attention if reminders are central to the service you want to offer.

Local

What Mississippi organisations need from an app

Agriculture and forestry are major industries in Mississippi. For a business managing field inspections or maintenance, an app needs to capture forms, photos, signatures and a job location, then sync that information to the office when a connection returns. Decide which records staff need to see and change while offline before settling the first release.

Mississippi also has health services, transportation and manufacturing businesses. An appointment-based health service might need booking, reminders, payments and a staff view of the day's schedule. A transport or manufacturing team should also distinguish between showing the last loaded information without signal and letting staff edit records offline: the latter needs syncing and a way to handle conflicting changes.

Rules

What a US mobile app project has to handle

If you are building for a US state or local government organisation, the mobile app needs to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA under the ADA Title II rule. We design the mobile screens against those requirements and include accessibility checks in the build. Bring the organisation's requirements into the scope discussion, so the screens and testing plan account for them from the start.

How it runs

How a mobile app project runs with us

We record decisions and questions for you to review across the time difference. India is 10h30m (Eastern) to 13h30m (Pacific) ahead of the mainland US in winter, and 1 hour less during daylight saving time.

    Discover

Tell us about your business, audience and goals. We agree the scope with you, including the tasks people need to complete and the systems involved.

  2. 02

    Design

We design iOS and Android screens and refine them with your feedback before writing code. Put the clickable prototype in front of a few customers or staff; a screen is cheaper to change at this stage than after it is built.

  3. 03

    Build

We send test builds to your phone through TestFlight or the Google Play testing tracks. Use them for real tasks and tell us where the flow needs attention.

  4. 04

    Launch and care

We test on real devices and browsers, then work through launch setup with you. Ongoing support follows, so there is a route for dealing with the product after release.

Checklist

What to have ready before we talk

Bring what you have; these details help us agree a useful scope.

  • List what users must do in the first release, in the order they will do it.
  • List connected systems, their APIs and who holds admin access.
  • Prepare a privacy policy that matches the data the app collects, for the store listing and the app.
  • Check the closed-testing requirements for a new personal Google Play developer account and line up testers.
  • For an app with login, prepare a working demo account and a live backend for submission.

Cost & time

What affects app development cost and time

The scope of the work determines the effort involved.

  • Integrations

Each payment gateway, booking system, map or connected device needs setup, testing and handling for failures.

  • Live features

Tracking, chat and presence need persistent connections and more backend work than screens that load data on request.

  • Screen design

Custom animation, extra languages and tablet layouts add design and testing across screens.

  • User content

Posts from users need moderation tools, including filtering, reporting, blocking and published contact details.

Avoid

Mistakes to avoid during app development

  • Do not put sign-up ahead of everything. Let people use an app without logging in when it lacks significant account-based features.

  • Do not request notification permission immediately. Ask when the benefit is clear, such as after an order; on Android 13 and later, notifications stay off until permission is granted.

  • Do not add an analytics or advertising SDK without revisiting privacy answers. Include the data it collects in Google Play's Data safety form.

  • Keep developer accounts, signing access and repositories in your business's name so you can move the app later.

Questions

Asked by businesses in Mississippi

Page updated 5 November 2026

How much does it cost to have an app developed?

There is no fixed price. The number of user types and the level of offline work both change the scope: customers and staff need different screens and permissions, while offline editing needs conflict handling when records sync. We send a free quote once the scope is agreed.

How do I choose an app development company?

Choose a team that can explain how it will take your app from design through launch. At MSH Technologies, the same team handles those stages. Ask to see how the proposed screens, backend and release work fit together, and check that the team understands who will use the app.

Can the app share technology with my website?

Yes. We build one backend to serve your app, website and admin tools. React Native is written in JavaScript or TypeScript, and some logic can also be shared with a React web app. Tell us what your existing website uses when discussing the connection.

What should be included in the first release?

Include the screens and backend needed for the main user task, along with analytics and crash reporting. Tools such as Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics show which screens people use, where they give up and which devices crash. That gives you specific information to review after release.

Who owns the app and its store accounts?

You own your code, content and domain, with no lock-in. We handle store listings, submission and review under your own developer accounts. Keeping those accounts with your business gives you control of the listings while we take care of the release work.

What support does an app need after launch?

Plan for bug fixes, operating-system updates and new features after release. We provide ongoing support for that work. Some JavaScript and content fixes can be sent over the air, while native code changes and new permissions still need a store release.
