Choosing
Should you choose WordPress or a custom website?
WordPress suits a team that wants to edit a lot of content itself. A custom Next.js site suits a business that wants fast pages, security and a design without template limits, and is happy to have a developer handle structural changes. A custom site can still include an editor, so you can consider page editing separately from changes to the site's structure.
A hosted builder such as Wix, Squarespace or Webflow suits a small site that you want to run alone. You have less control over code and speed, though, and moving away later can mean rebuilding the site. Look at who will maintain it before choosing the tool.
An adapted template fits a simple site with a tight brief when it is reworked around your actual content. A custom design fits when your brand, audience or content calls for something specific. We recommend WordPress or Next.js after learning how your team works, including what you need to change yourselves.
Local
What Louisiana businesses need from a website
Louisiana has chemical and processed food industries, alongside agricultural producers of products including rice and seafood. If you supply products to other businesses, your site needs capability or product pages, certifications and downloadable specifications. A quote form should ask for enough detail for your team to respond properly.
Tourism and gaming businesses are part of Louisiana's economy, especially around Greater New Orleans. If a visitor wants to make contact from a phone, decide where the message goes, who receives it and what the confirmation says. Choose whether to show a WhatsApp or click-to-call button as well.
Film businesses in New Orleans, Shreveport and Baton Rouge also need a clear way to present their work. An editor for project pages gives your team a place to keep that work current without training.
Rules
What a US website project has to handle
US guidance says ADA Title III covers the goods and services that businesses open to the public offer on the web, and identifies WCAG as helpful guidance. That makes the structure and use of your pages part of the build discussion. We set up a clear heading structure and test the site on real devices and browsers. Review your page content as well: headings need to describe what follows so visitors can understand how the page is organised.
How it runs
How a website project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is ahead of the mainland US, and the difference changes between winter and daylight saving time. Shared boards give both sides a place to keep decisions and feedback visible between conversations.
- 01
Discover
We learn about your business, audience and goals, then agree the scope with you. Bring the outcomes you want the site to support.
- 02
Plan
We use wireframes to decide what belongs on each page and in what order. At this stage, give feedback on content and priorities; colours come later.
- 03
Design
We create the sitemap and page designs for desktop and mobile. You review them, and we refine the designs with your feedback.
- 04
Build
We develop the agreed site in Next.js or use WordPress where your team needs full editing control. The choice follows the way you plan to manage the content.
- 05
Check and launch
You proofread every page, submit each form and confirm who receives its messages. We set up the domain, email, analytics and Search Console, then walk your team through the handover.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Gather what you have and note who holds anything still missing.
- Your logo in SVG, AI or EPS, plus brand colours and fonts.
- A ranked list of services or products to feature.
- A clear goal, such as quote requests or job applications, and the person who handles each enquiry.
- Examples of sites you like and dislike, with a short reason for each.
- Case studies, permitted client logos, testimonials or certifications in a folder.
- Domain, hosting, email, analytics and Search Console logins, or the name of the person who holds them.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline
The work involved changes with what is ready and what still needs to be made.
Content readiness
Copy and photos ready to publish keep the scope smaller; adding copywriting, photography or translation makes it bigger.
Brand readiness
An existing logo and style guide need less design effort than deciding the logo, colours and typefaces during the project.
Content gathering
Service descriptions, team bios, case studies and photos need an owner. Agree early who will write or collect each item.
Hosting and maintenance
A custom front end paired with a separate editor has more moving parts to host and maintain, even though it suits sites needing speed and heavy editing.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid when building your site
Designing around placeholder text
Use real headings and paragraphs as early as possible, so a finished-looking layout does not break when your content arrives.
Choosing a platform too soon
First decide who will update the site and how often. Those editing needs should guide the choice.
Copying every old page
Review which service pages visitors need. A shorter site is easier to scan and keep current.
Leaving search setup until launch
Check page titles, the sitemap and any development indexing block before the site goes live.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Louisiana
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does a website cost to build?
There is no fixed price. The scope changes with features such as booking, member logins or a CRM connection, and with the amount of old content that needs moving and checking. Bring a list of the features and existing files you need included so we can discuss a quote.
Is investing in website development still worthwhile?
A website gives you a place to present your services and receive enquiries. Judge its contribution by tracking form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks in analytics, then check which pages those enquiries started from. That gives you a practical basis for deciding what to improve after launch.
What is included in a website project?
The work covers the sitemap, page structure, desktop and mobile design, build, content editor, forms, search setup and launch. Agree who owns each part at the start. We also set up contact and quote forms to reach the right inbox, alongside WhatsApp and click-to-call options.
Can you use our existing brand for the website?
Yes. We build on your existing logo, colours and fonts, and prepare brand assets for the web where needed. Share the files and any guidance your team already uses, and identify anything that is still being decided so it can be addressed in the project scope.
Will we own the finished website?
Yes. You own your domain, content and code. Your business should also hold its domain and hosting accounts and grant access to the people working on the site. That way, you retain control of the accounts instead of having to ask an agency or freelancer for them later.
How do we keep the website current after launch?
Decide who on your team will update news, project and job posts. A site with an old newest post can leave visitors wondering whether you are still trading. Give that person responsibility for reviewing what is live and supplying updates when your work or vacancies change.
