Choosing
Should you choose cross-platform, native or a web app?
For an app centred on accounts, bookings, payments or content, cross-platform development is a practical starting point. We usually use React Native, sharing a codebase across iOS and Android and adding native modules when a feature needs them. It renders each platform’s own interface components, and some logic can be shared with a React web app. Flutter is another cross-platform option: it uses Dart and draws its own interface, which suits a highly customised design that should look identical across platforms.
Native development fits apps built around deep device features, heavy graphics or complex background work. The trade-off is separate iPhone and Android codebases to build and maintain. A progressive web app is worth considering for a staff tool: it skips store review, but does not appear in the stores unless packaged for them. On iPhone, it can request notification permission only after being added to the Home Screen. We learn what your users need to do, then agree the scope with you.
Local
What Florida businesses need from an app
Florida’s hospitality sector includes businesses serving repeat customers. A restaurant app can give those customers a way to reorder, use loyalty features and keep payment details for a faster checkout. For an appointment business, the useful screens are different: customers need booking and reminders, while staff need a view of the day’s schedule and payments.
For a Florida technology business with an existing web platform, an app becomes an option when customers use the service frequently. It can use the same accounts, data and backend as the website. A startup launching a consumer or marketplace product needs store coverage and analytics that show whether people return after installing.
Rules
What a United States app project has to handle
For a state or local government app, the US accessibility rule requires mobile apps and websites to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We set up the app’s screen designs and flows with that standard in the project scope, and plan checks against it as part of testing. Include the organisation’s website in that discussion too: the rule covers it as well, and the app’s links and user flows need to be considered alongside it.
How it runs
How an app project runs with us
We work remotely from India over video calls, WhatsApp and a shared project board. India is 10h30m to 13h30m ahead of the mainland US in winter, and 1 hour less during daylight saving time. The shared board gives you a place to leave feedback and keep decisions visible between calls.
- 01
Discover
We learn about your business, audience and goals. You help us agree what belongs in the scope before design starts.
- 02
Design
We draw the iOS and Android screens and flows. You review them and give feedback while changes are still being made to designs.
- 03
Build
We develop the app with React Native and add native modules where needed. You can keep the agreed scope in view as the work progresses.
- 04
Test
We send builds to your own phone through TestFlight or Google Play testing tracks. Use the app and tell us where a task feels unclear.
- 05
Release
We handle the store listings, submission and review under your own developer accounts. You keep those accounts in your business’s hands.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Bring the tasks and access details that will shape the first release.
- List the tasks users must complete, in the order they will do them.
- Note the website, booking, CRM or payment systems involved, whether they have APIs and who holds admin access.
- Prepare a privacy policy that matches the data the app collects; it needs links in the app and store listing.
- Decide which notification categories people need and which they should be able to switch off.
- Check your Google Play account type. A new personal account needs a closed test before production release.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and time needed
Each connection to an existing system adds setup, testing and work for handling failures.
User roles
Customers, drivers and staff each need their own screens and permissions, even when they share a backend.
Live features
Tracking, chat and presence need persistent connections and more backend work than data loaded on request.
Screen variations
Custom animation, additional languages, right-to-left scripts and tablet layouts add design and testing work across screens.
User content
Posts or other user-generated material need moderation features, including filtering, reporting and blocking, plus published contact details.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid when building an app
Wrapping a website in an app shell
Give people useful app functionality; a repackaged site risks rejection.
Requesting notification permission immediately
Ask when the benefit is clear, such as after an order. On Android 13 and later, notifications remain off until the user allows them.
Leaving account deletion out of the flow
If people can create an account, let them start deleting it inside the app. Deactivation alone does not meet Apple’s requirement.
Questions
Asked by businesses in Florida
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to pay someone to develop an app?
There is no fixed price. The scope changes with choices such as offline editing and syncing, or in-app purchases and subscriptions. Showing previously loaded data without a signal is a smaller piece of work than editing offline and resolving conflicts when data syncs. Ask for a free quote once the scope is agreed.
Which company should I hire for app development?
Choose a team that helps you examine the user flow before building it. Ask to put a clickable prototype in front of customers or staff and discuss their feedback. Also ask how the app handles sign-in: if it has no significant account-based features, people should be able to use it without logging in.
What is included behind the app screens?
A typical project includes the phone app, a backend for accounts and data, and an admin panel for your staff. The panel can give staff a way to edit content, look up customers, issue refunds and block abusive accounts. We can build a shared backend for your app, website and admin tools.
Who owns the app and its accounts?
You own your code, content and domain, with no lock-in. Keep the developer accounts, signing access and code repository in your business’s name too. When an agency or freelancer holds those assets in its own name, moving the app later becomes harder; agree where they will be held before work begins.
What support does an app need after launch?
Plan for bug fixes, operating-system updates and new features after release. Google Play requires new apps and updates to target a recent Android API level; an out-of-date app can become unavailable to new users on newer devices. We offer ongoing support for updates as well as fixes.
How will I know what happens after people install the app?
Include analytics and crash reporting in the first release. Tools such as Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics or Sentry show which screens people use, where they stop and which devices crash. Look at returning users and drop-off in the main task, alongside the crash-free rate, instead of treating download counts as the whole picture.
