What you get

What’s included in mobile app development

  • App design

Screens and flows designed for iOS and Android conventions.

  • Cross-platform build

One React Native codebase for both platforms, with native modules where needed.

  • Backend & APIs

Accounts, data, notifications and admin tools behind the app.

  • Push notifications

Timely, targeted notifications that bring people back.

  • Payments & subscriptions

In-app purchases and subscriptions on both stores.

  • Store launch

App Store and Google Play listings, submission and release.

Tools we use: React Native, Expo, Swift, Kotlin, Firebase, Node.js.

Choosing

Should you choose cross-platform or native development?

A cross-platform app shares most of its code between iOS and Android. It is a practical option when your app centres on accounts, forms, lists, maps, bookings, payments or content. React Native renders each platform’s own interface components and uses JavaScript or TypeScript, so web developers can contribute. If you already have a React web app, some logic can be shared with it.

Flutter is another cross-platform option. It uses Dart and draws its own interface, which suits a heavily branded design where you want screens to look identical on both platforms; your team also needs to be willing to work in Dart. We usually build with React Native and add native modules where a feature needs them. When an app needs deep device features, we choose native development. We help you weigh the screens and device features you need against how much platform-specific work the app requires.

Local

What South Carolina businesses need from an app

South Carolina’s economy includes agribusiness and automotive manufacturing. For a field inspection or maintenance team, an app needs to collect forms, photos, signatures and a location for each job. Staff also need to keep working when the signal drops, with records synced back to the office when it returns. That requirement changes the scope of the app and the work behind its screens.

Small businesses make up a large share of businesses in South Carolina. A shop or restaurant serving repeat customers might need reordering, loyalty, saved payment details and a fast checkout. For an appointment business, the useful screens are different: customers need booking, reminders and payment, while staff need a view of the day’s schedule. Start with the action your customers return to most often.

Rules

What a United States app project has to handle

For a state or local government app, the ADA Title II rule requires the app to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. That changes the screen design and testing work: we set up the app’s screens against that standard as part of the build.

Checkout also needs to match what you sell. Apple and Google Play require their in-app purchase systems for digital content and subscriptions, while physical goods and services need another payment route. Stripe supports businesses in the United States, so we can set up a Stripe checkout for eligible physical purchases alongside the appropriate store purchase flow for digital items.

How it runs

How a mobile app project runs with us

We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is 10h30m ahead of Eastern time in winter, and 1 hour less during daylight saving time; the shared board gives you a place to review progress and leave feedback across that difference.

  1. 01

    Discover

We learn about your business, audience and goals, then agree the scope with you. Bring the user tasks you want the app to support so we can discuss what belongs in the build.

  2. 02

    Design

We refine the iOS and Android screens with your feedback before writing code. Put the clickable prototype in front of customers or staff; changing a screen at this stage costs less than changing it after it is built.

  3. 03

    Build and test

We send test builds to your phone through TestFlight or Google Play’s testing tracks. Use the app yourself and collect feedback from the people who will use it in their work.

  4. 04

    Release

We handle the store listings, submission and release. If your app has a login, prepare a working demo account and live backend for Apple’s review, and leave room to fix and resubmit anything that fails review.

Checklist

What to have ready before we talk

Bring these details to the first conversation.

  • List the actions users must complete in the first release, in the order they will do them.
  • Name the website, CRM, booking or payment systems involved; note which have an API and who holds admin access.
  • Check whether a new personal Google Play developer account needs a closed test, and identify people who could test the app.
  • Prepare a privacy policy that matches the data the app collects, for the Apple listing and a link inside the app.
  • Plan to keep developer accounts, signing access and the code repository in your business’s name.

Cost & time

What affects the cost and timeline of app development

The work grows with the flows, systems and screens your app needs.

  • User types

Customers, drivers and staff each need their own screens and permissions, even when they share a backend.

  • Live features

Tracking, chat and presence need persistent connections and more backend work than screens that load data on request.

  • Interface

Custom animation, several languages, right-to-left scripts and tablet layouts add design and testing across screens.

  • User content

An app with user-generated content needs filtering, reporting, blocking and published contact details to meet Apple’s requirements.

Avoid

Mistakes to avoid with mobile app development

  • Wrapping a website in an app shell

Plan useful app functionality beyond the existing site. Apple’s guidelines expect more than a repackaged website, and a wrapper risks rejection.

  • Asking for notification permission at launch

Ask when the benefit is clear, such as after an order. On Android 13 and later, notifications stay off until the user allows them.

  • Adding an analytics or advertising SDK without updating privacy answers: Review the data collected by each SDK and include it in Google Play’s Data safety form.

Questions

Asked by businesses in South Carolina

Page updated 5 November 2026

How much does it cost to develop an app?

There is no fixed price. The scope changes if you need people to create and edit records offline and sync them later, rather than only see previously loaded data. An existing backend with a documented API also reduces the work compared with building a backend and admin panel from scratch.

Which app development company should I hire?

Choose a team that can take responsibility for the work you need from design through launch. With us, the same team handles those stages, so the people developing the app work from the designs agreed with you. Ask a prospective supplier who will design, build and launch your app before you appoint them.

What is included beyond the app screens?

An app project usually includes a backend and an admin panel as well as the app on the phone. We can build one backend for your app, website and admin tools. Your staff can then use the admin panel for tasks such as editing content, looking up customers, issuing refunds and blocking abusive accounts.

Will I own the app and its store accounts?

You own your code, content and domain, with no lock-in. We handle the store listings, submission and review under your own developer accounts. Keeping those accounts with your business means the store presence stays under your control while we carry out the publication work.

What support does the app need after launch?

Plan for bug fixes, operating system updates and new features after release. Google Play requires apps and updates to target a recent Android API level, so maintenance releases need to be part of the plan. Some JavaScript and content fixes can go out over the air; native code and permission changes still need a store release.

How do push notifications work?

Notifications need a sending service, such as Firebase Cloud Messaging, as well as rules for who receives each message and when. We set up targeted notifications and in-app settings so people can switch off categories they do not want. Decide which messages are useful to your customers before defining those rules.
