Choosing
Should you build a cross-platform, native or web app?
For an app centred on accounts, forms, lists, bookings, payments or content, a cross-platform build is worth considering. We use React Native for most apps, sharing a codebase across iOS and Android and adding native modules where the product needs them. That gives you a common foundation to maintain while allowing screens to follow the conventions of each platform.
Native development suits an app built around deep device features, heavy graphics, complex background work or new platform features at launch. The trade-off is a separate codebase for each platform. Flutter is another cross-platform option: it uses Dart and draws its own interface, which suits a heavily branded design when your team is willing to work in that language.
A progressive web app is another route for a staff tool and skips store review. It does not appear in app stores unless packaged for them, and on iPhone it can request notification permission only after someone adds it to the Home Screen. Decide where staff or customers need to find and use the product before choosing.
Local
What Yukon businesses need from an app
Mining is a major industry in Yukon. A mining business with inspection or maintenance staff needs job forms that accept photos, signatures and location details, then sync the records to the office when signal returns. The scope should identify which information staff need to capture while they are away from a connection.
Tourism businesses in Yukon that take appointments or bookings need a clear route from choosing a time to paying, with reminders for customers and a schedule staff can check. A useful first release gives both the customer and the person managing the booking a clear view of what has been arranged.
Manufacturing businesses in Yukon serving repeat customers could use reordering and saved payment details in an app. The checkout needs to be quick, and notifications need to arrive at a time that is useful to the customer.
Rules
What a mobile app project in Canada has to handle
For private-sector commercial activity, Canada’s PIPEDA rules cover the collection, use and disclosure of personal information. We set up privacy information in the app around the details your product collects and how they are used or disclosed, so the account and data flows can be planned alongside those explanations.
Payment setup follows what you sell. Apple and Google require their in-app purchase systems for digital goods and subscriptions, while physical goods and services need another payment route. Stripe supports businesses in Canada; we can set up a Stripe checkout for the appropriate physical purchase flow and store purchases for digital subscriptions.
How it runs
How a mobile app project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India time is 12h30m ahead of Yukon, which no longer changes its clocks, so shared boards and written updates help keep decisions visible between calls.

Discover
We learn about your business, audience and goals, then agree the scope with you. Bring the main task you want the app to support and the people who need to use it.
- 02
Design
We design the iOS and Android screens and refine them with your feedback before writing code. Review the flow as well as the appearance of each screen.
- 03
Test the prototype
Put the clickable design in front of a few customers or staff. Their feedback gives you a chance to change a confusing screen before it is built.
- 04
Prepare for submission
If the app has a login, arrange a working demo account and a live backend for Apple’s review. Leave room in the launch plan for fixes and resubmission.
- 05
Release
We handle the store listings, submission and review under your own developer accounts. You retain access to the accounts used for publication.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
A few practical details make the first scope discussion more useful.
- List the tasks people must complete in the first release, in the order they would do them.
- Start registering Apple and Google developer accounts in your company’s name; organisation verification needs a D-U-N-S number.
- List the website, booking, CRM, ERP or payment systems involved, their APIs and who holds admin access.
- Prepare a privacy policy that matches the data the app collects; it needs links in the app and Apple listing.
- Plan account deletion if users can sign upboth stores need an in-app route, and Google Play also needs a web request link.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline
The work changes with the behaviour you need on each screen and behind it.
Real-time activity
Live tracking or chat needs persistent connections and more backend work than loading information on request.
Integrations
Each payment gateway, map, booking system or device needs setup, testing and handling for failures.
Interface
Custom animation, additional languages, right-to-left scripts and tablet layouts add design and testing across screens.
Offline work
Showing previously loaded information is more modest than allowing edits without signal and resolving conflicts when records sync.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid when building an app
Wrapping a website without adding useful app functionality risks rejection by Apple. Define the task the app will make available to the user before deciding to package the site.
Putting sign-up in front of every screen can lose users. Where there are no significant account-based features, let people use the app without logging in.
Asking for notification permission at first launch wastes the request. Ask when the benefit is clear, such as after an order; on recent Android versions, notifications remain off until the user allows them.
Questions

Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to develop an app?
There is no fixed price. A major driver is whether an existing backend has a documented API or the app needs a new backend and admin panel. Separate customer, driver and staff roles also add screens and permissions. Once we agree the scope, ask us for a quote that reflects those choices.
Which company should I choose for app development?
Choose a team that can explain the whole product and how it will be measured after release. Ask who will build the backend and staff admin panel, and how crash reports and screen usage will be recorded. Those details help you assess the proposal beyond the appearance of the app screens.
What is included in the app build?
We design screens for iOS and Android and build the accounts, data, notifications and admin tools behind them. For push notifications, the work also includes a sending service, rules for who receives each message and in-app settings where people can turn off categories they do not want.
Who owns the code and developer accounts?
You own your code, domain and content, with no lock-in. Keep the developer accounts, signing access and code repositories in your business’s name as well. Accounts held in an agency’s or freelancer’s name can make the app harder to move if you later change who maintains it.
What support does the app need after launch?
Plan for bug fixes, operating-system updates and new features. Google Play requires apps and updates to target a recent Android API level. Some JavaScript and content fixes can be sent over the air, but native code changes and new permissions still need a store release.
Can the app use the same backend as our website?
Yes. We build a shared backend for your app, website and admin tools. This is useful when customers already use your web platform frequently and the app needs the same accounts and data. Bring the details of the existing platform to the scope discussion so the connection can be assessed.
