What you get

What’s included in mobile app development

  • App design

Screens and flows designed for iOS and Android conventions.

  • Cross-platform build

One React Native codebase for both platforms, with native modules where needed.

  • Backend & APIs

Accounts, data, notifications and admin tools behind the app.

  • Push notifications

Timely, targeted notifications that bring people back.

  • Payments & subscriptions

In-app purchases and subscriptions on both stores.

  • Store launch

App Store and Google Play listings, submission and release.

Tools we use: React Native, Expo, Swift, Kotlin, Firebase, Node.js.

Choosing

Should you choose cross-platform or native development?

Cross-platform development suits many apps built around accounts, forms, lists, maps, bookings, payments or content. Frameworks such as React Native share most of the code between iOS and Android, so you have a shared product to develop and maintain across both platforms. We usually build with React Native and add native modules where a feature needs them.

Native development fits a different kind of brief. If your product relies on deep device features, heavy graphics, complex background work or new platform features at launch, building separately for iPhone and Android gives each app direct access to those capabilities. The trade-off is maintaining separate codebases. That adds work when you change a feature or update the app.

React Native uses JavaScript or TypeScript and renders each platform’s own interface components. If your existing web team works with those languages, they can contribute; an existing React web app can also share some logic. Bring the device features and existing systems you have in mind to the discussion, so the choice reflects the product you want to maintain.

Local

What Utah businesses need from an app

Tourism businesses in Utah serve visitors who need to find and pay for goods or services. For shops and restaurants with repeat customers, an app can support reordering, loyalty and saved payment details. A fast checkout and notifications sent at a useful moment give customers a reason to return to it.

Information technology businesses in Utah may already have customers using a web platform. When those customers use the service frequently, an app can reuse their existing accounts, data and backend. That keeps the app connected to the service people already know.

Clinics, salons and gyms need customers to book and pay, while staff need a clear view of the day’s schedule. Reminders give the customer a useful reason to keep the app on their phone.

Rules

What a US app project has to handle

State and local government mobile apps must meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. For a government project, we design the iOS and Android screens against that standard and review accessibility as part of the screen work. Bring the tasks residents need to complete and the information they need to reach. We can then work through those tasks with you as we shape the screens, alongside the account and data flows the service requires.

How it runs

How an app project runs with us

We work remotely from India using video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is ahead of mainland US time zones, and the gap changes during daylight saving time. The shared board gives you a place to leave decisions and feedback between calls, so work can keep moving across that gap.

  1. 01

    Design

We prepare screens for iOS and Android and refine them with your feedback before writing code. Tell us where a flow does not match how your customers or staff work.

  2. 02

    Prototype

Put the clickable design in front of a few customers or staff. Their feedback can reveal a confusing screen while it is still cheaper to change than a built feature.

  3. 03

    Test builds

You use the app on your own phone during development. We share builds through TestFlight for iPhone and Google Play testing tracks for Android, so your feedback comes from using the product.

  4. 04

    Launch

We handle the store listings, submission and review under your own developer accounts. You retain control of the accounts used to publish the app.

Checklist

What to have ready before we talk

A short description of the first release and the systems around it gives the discussion a useful starting point.

  • List the actions users must complete, in the order they would do them.
  • Note the website, booking software, CRM or payment provider the app needs to connect to, plus any available APIs and who holds admin access.
  • Start registering developer accounts in your company’s name; organisation accounts need a D-U-N-S number for verification.
  • If you use a new personal Google Play account, plan a closed test with at least 12 opted-in testers before production.
  • For an app with login, prepare a working demo account and a live backend for submission.

Cost & time

What affects the cost and timeline

The scope changes the amount of design, development and testing needed.

  • User roles

Customers, drivers and staff each need their own screens and permissions, even when they share a backend.

  • Offline work

Showing previously loaded data without a signal is modest work; creating and editing offline records needs syncing and conflict handling.

  • Existing backend

A documented API reduces the work. A new backend and admin panel can be as large a task as the app itself.

  • User content

Posts from users need moderation features, including reporting, blocking, filtering objectionable material and published contact details.

Avoid

Mistakes to avoid

  • Wrapping a website in an app shell

Plan useful app features beyond the existing site. A repackaged site risks rejection by Apple.

  • Requiring sign-up too early

Let people see and use relevant content first when significant account features are not needed.

  • Asking for notification permission at launch

Ask when the benefit is clear, such as after an order. Android notifications stay off until the user allows them.

  • Adding an analytics or advertising SDK without updating privacy answers: Include its data collection in Google Play’s Data safety form.

Questions

Asked by businesses in Utah

Page updated 5 November 2026

How much does it cost to develop an app?

There is no fixed price: the quote follows the agreed scope. Integrations with payment gateways, maps, booking systems or hardware each need setup and testing. Custom animation, extra languages and tablet layouts also add design and testing across screens. Tell us which of these the first release needs so the quote reflects the work.

How do I choose an app development company?

Choose a team that can explain the whole product and how you will check it with real users. An app commonly needs a backend and an admin panel as well as phone screens. Plan analytics and crash reporting in the first release, so you can see screen use, drop-off and device crashes.

Can the app use the same accounts and data as my website?

Yes. We can build a shared backend for your app, website and admin tools, keeping customer accounts and data in one place. That gives your staff a common source of information when they manage the service, while customers use the same account across the app and website.

How do payments work in an app?

The checkout depends on what you sell. Digital content, features and subscriptions used in the app generally require the stores’ in-app billing; physical goods and services need another payment method, such as a card gateway. Some storefronts or regions allow outside payment options, so identify the goods or services in your brief.

Will I own the app code?

Yes. You own your code, content and domain, with no lock-in. That gives you control of those assets after launch and lets you decide how the product is maintained as your needs change. Keep the relevant account and access details with your business as the project proceeds.

What happens after the app launches?

We provide ongoing support for bug fixes, operating-system updates and new features. Some JavaScript and content fixes can go out through an over-the-air update. Changes to native code, new permissions and Expo SDK upgrades still need a store release, so the type of change affects how it reaches users.
