Choosing
Should you choose WordPress, a custom site or a website builder?
Start with who will update the site. WordPress suits a team that publishes often and wants to edit most pages itself. It also offers a large choice of plugins, though someone will need to keep them updated for security. A custom design gives you more room to shape the site around a specific brand, audience or set of content.
For a straightforward site with a tight brief, an adapted template can reduce design effort. Use your real content when adapting it: the page still has to accommodate your service descriptions and images. Hosted builders such as Wix, Squarespace and Webflow suit a small site you want to run alone, but give you less control over code and speed. Moving away later can also mean rebuilding.
We recommend WordPress or a custom Next.js build after learning how your team works. Tell us what you expect to publish, who will make changes and how much editing control they need; that gives us a practical basis for the choice.
Local
What Utah organisations need from a website
Utah’s education and information technology sectors include organisations that need to keep information current. An education organisation can use editable news and careers pages; a supplier selling to other businesses needs product pages, downloadable specifications and a quote form with enough detail to respond.
Tourism is a major industry in Utah, with five national parks. A tourism business needs a straightforward way for visitors to make contact. We set up enquiry forms for the right inbox, with click-to-call or WhatsApp alongside them.
Ski resorts are primarily near Salt Lake City, Park City, Ogden and Provo. For a resort website, the sitemap and mobile page designs should make it easy to find the relevant information without searching through every page.
Rules
What a United States website project needs to handle
For a business open to the public, accessibility belongs in the brief. US Department of Justice guidance says Title III of the ADA covers goods and services offered on the web, and points to WCAG as helpful guidance. We agree an accessibility target with you, then design the sitemap, wireframes and desktop and mobile pages with that target in the project scope. WCAG has A, AA and AAA levels; agreeing the target gives your team and ours a basis for reviewing the designs.
How it runs
How a website project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is ahead of mainland US time zones: 10h30m (Eastern) to 13h30m (Pacific) in winter, with a 1 hour reduction during daylight saving time in most places. The shared board gives us a place to keep feedback and work visible across that difference.
- 01
Discover
You tell us who buys from you, why they choose you and what you want visitors to do. We use that to shape the sitemap.
- 02
Plan
We prepare wireframes. You review the content and its order on each page before we move on to colours and visual design.
- 03
Build
We develop the site in code or with an editor your team can use, then test it on real devices and browsers.
- 04
Check
You proofread every page, submit each form and confirm who receives its messages. This catches small errors before visitors encounter them.
- 05
Launch
We set up the domain, email, analytics and Search Console, then walk your team through the handover.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Bring what you have, and identify who can supply the rest.
- Rank the services or products you want the site to feature.
- Choose a goal, such as quote requests, and name the person who handles them.
- Share sites you like and dislike, with a short reason for each.
- Gather photos of your team, premises and finished work.
- Find account logins or the person who holds them, including for your domain and email.
- Collect case studies, permitted client logos, testimonials and credentials in one folder.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline of a website?
The scope determines the work involved.
Page templates
Distinct layouts need their own design and build work. Pages that share a template take less effort to produce.
Content readiness
Copy and photos ready to publish keep the scope smaller; writing, photography or translation add work.
Content migration
Moving an archive of posts, news or downloadable files adds transfer and checking work.
Brand readiness
An existing logo and style guide give the design a starting point. Deciding colours and typefaces during the project adds design work.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid when building your website
Leaving content until the end
Use real headings and paragraphs in the design, because their length affects the layout.
Choosing the platform too early
First decide who will update the site and how often, then choose an editor that suits them.
Putting accounts in someone else’s name
Keep the domain and hosting accounts in your business’s name and grant access to your provider.
Reviewing only on a large screen
Check every page on a phone before you approve it.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Utah
Page updated 5 November 2026
Is a website still worth investing in?
A website gives you a place to present your services and measure enquiries. Set up analytics to track form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks, then check which pages those enquiries started from. Page titles, descriptions, a clear heading structure and an XML sitemap also give search engines information about the site.
How much does it cost to have a website built?
There is no fixed price. The scope of the sitemap, page design, editor and forms affects the work, as does the amount of content your team needs to gather or write. Decide who owns each part early. We send a free quote once the scope is agreed.
Should we choose WordPress or a custom website?
WordPress suits a team that wants to edit a lot of content itself. A custom Next.js site is faster and more secure, and it can still include an editor. Tell us how your team publishes and maintains content; we recommend an approach after understanding that workflow.
What is included, and can you use our existing brand?
We can build on your existing logo, colours and fonts, preparing brand assets for the web where needed. The development can use Next.js or WordPress, with the choice informed by the editing control your team needs. Share your current brand materials when we discuss the scope.
Will we own the website after launch?
Yes. You own your domain, content and code, with no lock-in. That gives you control over the assets used to run the site. Keep the relevant account details accessible to someone in your business so your team can manage access as responsibilities change.
What support is available after launch?
We provide ongoing support after launch. Your team should also decide who will update news, projects and job posts, so those sections stay current. Assigning that responsibility gives the editor a clear owner and keeps routine publishing from being overlooked after the site goes live.
