Choosing
Should you choose a cross-platform or native app?
A cross-platform app shares most of its code across iOS and Android. It suits products built around accounts, forms, lists, maps, bookings, payments or content. React Native uses JavaScript or TypeScript and renders each platform’s own interface components. Web developers can contribute, and some logic can be shared with a React website.
Flutter is another cross-platform option. It uses Dart and draws its own interface, which suits a heavily branded app whose screens should look identical on both platforms. Your team needs to be willing to work in Dart. Native development uses Swift for iPhone and Kotlin for Android; it fits deep device features, heavy graphics or complex background work, but leaves you with separate codebases to maintain.
We usually build with React Native and add native modules where a feature needs them. We choose native development when the app needs deep device features. The decision starts with what your users need to do and which device features those tasks require.
Local
What Idaho businesses need from an app
Idaho’s agriculture and manufacturing businesses may have staff completing inspections or maintenance away from the office. An app for those teams needs job forms, photos, signatures and location, with records synced when signal returns.
Tourism businesses serving people who come for skiing, rafting or other outdoor activities can use an appointment flow to take bookings and payments. Reminders and a staff view of the day’s schedule help the people delivering those services see what is booked.
Small businesses make up a large share of Idaho’s employers. For a shop or restaurant with repeat customers, an app can bring reordering, loyalty and saved payment details into a fast checkout, with notifications timed around the customer’s activity.
Rules
What a mobile app project in the United States has to handle
For digital content or subscriptions used inside an iOS app, we set up in-app purchase. Physical goods and services used outside the app need a different payment route, such as a card gateway. US businesses can sign up to accept payments with Stripe.
If you run a state or local government service, the ADA Title II rule requires your mobile app to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We include that standard in the screen design and test plan, so the requirement is part of the build from the outset.
How it runs
How a mobile app project runs with us
We work with you remotely. India is 10h30m (Eastern) to 13h30m (Pacific) ahead of the mainland US in winter, and 1 hour less during daylight saving time. Video calls, WhatsApp and a shared project board keep questions and feedback moving across the time difference.

Discover
We learn about your business, audience and goals, then agree the scope with you. Bring the tasks your customers or staff need to complete.
- 02
Design
We design the iOS and Android screens before writing code. You review the flows and tell us where a task or screen needs to change.
- 03
Build and test
Test builds reach your own phone through TestFlight on iPhone and Google Play’s internal or closed testing tracks. Use them for real tasks and share what you find.
- 04
Measure
We include analytics and crash reporting in the first release. Tools such as Firebase Analytics or Crashlytics show screen use, drop-off and device crashes.
- 05
Release
We handle store listings, submission and review under your developer accounts. You retain access to the accounts used to publish the app.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Bring the details that help us define the first release.
- User tasksList what people must do in the app, in the order they will do it.
- Developer accountsRegister Apple and Google accounts in your company’s name; organisation accounts need a D-U-N-S number for verification.
- Privacy policyHave a policy that matches the data the app collects, ready to link from the listing and inside the app.
- TestersNew personal Google Play accounts need a closed test before a production release.
- Prototype feedbackIdentify customers or staff who can try the clickable design before it is built.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline of app development
The work grows with the behaviour, connections and layouts the app needs.
Live features
Chat, presence and live tracking need persistent connections and more backend work than screens that request data when opened.
Integrations
Each payment gateway, booking system, map or connected device adds setup, testing and failure handling.
Custom layouts
Animation, extra languages, right-to-left scripts and tablet layouts add design and testing across screens.
Offline work
Showing recently loaded data is a smaller task than letting people edit records offline and resolving conflicts when they sync.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid with mobile app development
Blocking the app with sign-up
Let people see and use what they can before asking them to create an account. Apple asks this of apps without significant account-based features.
Asking for notifications immediately
Request permission when the benefit is clear, such as after an order. On Android 13 and later, notifications stay off until the user allows them.
Adding a tracking tool without updating the listing
Check Google Play’s Data safety answers whenever an analytics or advertising SDK is added, including the data that SDK collects.
Questions
Asked by businesses in Idaho
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to develop an app?
There is no fixed price. The main drivers include how many types of user need their own screens and permissions, and whether you already have a backend with a documented API. Building a backend and admin panel from scratch adds substantial work. We send a free quote once we have agreed the scope with you.
Which company should I choose for app development?
Choose a company that is clear about ownership and store release. Ask whose name will hold the developer accounts, signing access and code repository, and who handles the listings and submission. We handle App Store and Google Play listings, submission and release; keeping access in your business’s name makes a later move easier.
Can the app share customer accounts with my website?
Yes. We can build a single backend serving your app, website and admin tools. That gives you a place for customer accounts and data, while each interface uses the same backend. Tell us which account information your customers and staff need to see in each place.
What account management should the app include?
Plan for both customer and staff tasks. If people can create an account, Apple requires them to be able to start deleting it inside the app; disabling it alone is not enough. An admin panel can give staff access to customer lookups, refunds and abusive-account blocks without calling a developer.
Who owns the app and developer accounts?
You own your code, content and domain, with no lock-in. We handle the store listings, submission and review under your own developer accounts. Keep access to those accounts available to the people responsible for your app, so publishing does not depend on an account held elsewhere.
What support does an app need after launch?
Plan for maintenance releases and check how people use the app. Google Play requires apps and updates to target a recent Android API level. Track returning users, task drop-off and the crash-free rate. Some JavaScript and content fixes can go out over the air; native changes and new permissions need a store release.
