App development company in South Dakota

We develop mobile apps for South Dakota businesses, with customer accounts, admin tools, push notifications and store submission included in the work. You get screens for the people using the app and the services behind them. Based in India, MSH Technologies handles design, development and launch with the same team, so you work with the people responsible for bringing your app to release.

What you get

What’s included in mobile app development

  • App design

Screens and flows designed for iOS and Android conventions.

  • Cross-platform build

One React Native codebase for both platforms, with native modules where needed.

  • Backend & APIs

Accounts, data, notifications and admin tools behind the app.

  • Push notifications

Timely, targeted notifications that bring people back.

  • Payments & subscriptions

In-app purchases and subscriptions on both stores.

  • Store launch

App Store and Google Play listings, submission and release.

Tools we use: React Native, Expo, Swift, Kotlin, Firebase, Node.js.

Choosing

Should you build a cross-platform app or a web app?

A cross-platform app suits products built around accounts, forms, bookings, payments, maps or content. React Native and Flutter share most of their code across iOS and Android, which reduces duplicated build work. The choice affects who can work on the code and how much control you have over the interface.

React Native uses JavaScript or TypeScript and renders the interface components of each platform. If you already have web developers, they can contribute, and a React website can share some logic with the app. Flutter uses Dart and draws its own interface. It is worth considering for a heavily branded design when you want screens to look identical across platforms and your team is willing to work in Dart.

A progressive web app is another option for a staff tool. It skips store review, but it will not appear in the app stores unless packaged for them. On an iPhone, it can ask to send notifications only after the user adds it to the Home Screen. Weigh that limitation against how your staff will find and use the tool.

Local

What South Dakota businesses need from an app

Services are a major part of South Dakota’s economy. If you run an appointment business, such as a clinic, salon or gym, an app can bring booking, reminders and payments into the customer’s flow while giving your staff a view of the day’s schedule. That gives you a concrete set of screens to discuss before adding other features.

Agriculture remains important, particularly in rural areas. For a maintenance or inspection team working with agricultural operations, the useful detail is what happens when signal drops: staff need forms, photos, signatures and location attached to each job, with records sent back to the office when a connection returns.

The Black Hills draws visitors to attractions and parks. If you run a shop or restaurant serving repeat customers there, consider reordering, loyalty and saved payment details alongside a fast checkout. Notification timing needs attention too, so messages fit the reason someone returns.

Rules

What a US app project has to handle

For a state or local government app, the US accessibility rule requires WCAG 2.1 Level AA. That changes the screen work: we design the iOS and Android flows and check them against that standard as part of the build.

For checkout, the item sold determines the payment route. Apple requires in-app purchase for digital content, features and subscriptions used in the app; physical goods and services used outside it need another method, such as a card gateway. US businesses can sign up to accept payments with Stripe, so we can set up that gateway for an applicable physical-goods checkout.

How it runs

How an app project runs with us

We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is 10h30m (Eastern) to 13h30m (Pacific) ahead of the mainland US in winter, and 1 hour less during daylight saving time. Shared boards give us a place to keep feedback and decisions visible across that difference.

  1. 01

    Design

We refine the iOS and Android screens with your feedback before writing code. Put the clickable prototype in front of a few customers or staff, then bring their observations back while screen changes are still cheaper to make.

  2. 02

    Test

During development, you receive a build on your own phone through TestFlight on iPhone or a Google Play testing track. Use it for the tasks your customers or staff will actually perform and share what gets in their way.

  3. 03

    Measure

We include analytics and crash reporting in the first release. Tools such as Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics or Sentry show which screens people use, where they give up and which devices crash.

  4. 04

    Submit

We handle the listings, submission and review under your developer accounts. If the app has a login, provide a working demo account and live backend for Apple’s review, and leave room for a fix and resubmission if needed.

Checklist

What to have ready before we talk

Bring the essentials; a concise brief gives us useful decisions to work through.

  • TasksList what users must do in the first release, in the order they will do it.
  • SystemsNote the website, CRM, booking or payment systems involved, their APIs and who holds admin access.
  • Developer accountsRegister Apple and Google accounts in your company’s name; organisation verification needs a D-U-N-S number.
  • TestingCheck the closed-test requirement before planning a release from a new personal Google Play developer account.
  • AccessKeep developer accounts, signing access and code repositories in your business’s name.

Cost & time

What affects the cost and time of app development

The work changes with the behaviour you need and the systems already available.

  • Offline work

Showing the last loaded data is modest work; offline editing and later sync need conflict handling.

  • Live features

Tracking, chat and presence need persistent connections and more backend work than screens that load data on request.

  • Integrations

Each payment gateway, map, booking system or connected device needs setup, testing and failure handling.

  • Screen variations

Custom animation, additional languages, right-to-left scripts and tablet layouts add design and testing across screens.

  • Backend

A documented existing API reduces the work; a new backend and admin panel can be as substantial as the app itself.

Avoid

Mistakes to avoid with app development

  • Wrapping a website

Apple expects an app to offer more than a repackaged site. Define useful app tasks before treating a website shell as the product.

  • Demanding sign-up too soon

Let people try the available features before asking for an account when the app has no significant account-based features.

  • Forgetting store privacy answers

When an analytics or advertising SDK is added, update Google Play’s Data safety form to cover the data that third-party SDK collects.

Questions

Asked by businesses in South Dakota

Page updated 5 November 2026

How much does it cost to develop an app?

There is no fixed price. The scope changes with the backend and admin tools, notification rules, and any user-generated content that needs moderation. For example, content features need reporting and blocking controls, while notifications need a sending service and user settings. Agree the scope before requesting a quote.

Which company should I choose for app development?

Choose a team that can explain how the app will be measured after release. Ask how it will track people returning and where they drop out of the main task, as well as the crash-free rate. For a consumer or marketplace product, ask how it will cover both stores and measure repeat use.

Should my app be native or cross-platform?

React Native is our usual choice for an app that can share a codebase across iOS and Android. We go native when the app needs deep device features. Bring a description of the device features you expect to use, so we can discuss that choice before the build is scoped.

Are payments and subscriptions included?

We build in-app purchases and subscriptions for both stores when your app needs them. On Google Play, billing is required for digital goods and subscriptions sold in the app, but must not be used for physical goods or services such as groceries, transport or event tickets. Some regions allow alternative billing.

Who owns the app and its content?

You own your code, content and domain, with no lock-in. Keep a record of where those assets are held and who has access to them. That gives you a practical handover list if you later decide to change who looks after your app or its related content.

What support does the app need after launch?

After launch, we provide ongoing support for bug fixes, updates for new iOS and Android versions, and new features. Plan maintenance releases as part of that work: Google Play requires new apps and updates to target a recent Android API level, and out-of-date apps become unavailable to new users on newer devices.
