Mobile app developers for Saskatoon businesses

You get a mobile app built around the work your customers or staff need to do in Saskatoon. We design screens for iOS and Android, build the accounts and data behind them, and set up push notifications where they fit the service. At MSH Technologies, we work with you from India as we design and build the app.

What you get

What’s included in mobile app development

  • App design

Screens and flows designed for iOS and Android conventions.

  • Cross-platform build

One React Native codebase for both platforms, with native modules where needed.

  • Backend & APIs

Accounts, data, notifications and admin tools behind the app.

  • Push notifications

Timely, targeted notifications that bring people back.

  • Payments & subscriptions

In-app purchases and subscriptions on both stores.

  • Store launch

App Store and Google Play listings, submission and release.

Tools we use: React Native, Expo, Swift, Kotlin, Firebase, Node.js.

Choosing

Should you build a native app or use a shared codebase?

A shared codebase is a practical choice for apps built around accounts, bookings, forms, payments or content. React Native uses JavaScript or TypeScript and renders each platform’s own interface components. Your web developers can contribute, and some logic can be shared with a React website. We generally choose React Native for this kind of app and go native when the work needs deep access to device features.

Flutter is another shared-code option. It uses Dart and draws its own interface, which suits a heavily branded design that needs screens to look identical across platforms. Your team would need to be comfortable working in Dart as the product develops. That choice affects who can maintain and extend the app.

A progressive web app can suit a staff tool and avoids store review. It will not appear in app stores unless it is packaged for them, though, and an iPhone user must add it to the Home Screen before it can ask to send notifications. Start with the tasks people need to complete, then choose the platform that supports them.

Local

What Saskatoon organisations need from an app

Saskatoon’s agriculture, potash and oil activity makes field work a useful place to examine the requirements. A maintenance or inspection team may need forms, photos, signatures and a location recorded against each job, with the information sent to the office when signal returns. Decide how much offline work is needed: displaying the last loaded information is a smaller task than editing records offline and resolving conflicts when they sync.

Saskatoon’s Innovation Place includes technology and life sciences organisations. A startup developing a consumer or marketplace product needs coverage across both app stores and a way to see if users return. We can also build a shared backend for the app, website and admin tools, keeping customer accounts and data in one place.

Rules

What a mobile app project in Canada has to handle

Your checkout depends on what you sell. Apple and Google Play generally require their in-app purchase or billing systems for digital content and subscriptions used in the app. Physical goods and services used outside it need another payment route. Stripe is available to businesses in Canada, so we can set up a card checkout for those purchases and configure in-app purchases or subscriptions where the store rules require them. Some storefronts or regions also allow outside or alternative payment options.

How it runs

How a mobile app project runs with us

We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is 11h30m ahead of Saskatchewan, so the shared board gives you a place to leave feedback and see work moving between conversations.

  1. 01

    Discover

Tell us about your business, audience and goals. We agree the scope together, including the tasks the app needs to support.

  2. 02

    Design

Put the clickable prototype in front of customers or staff and bring their feedback to us. Changing a screen at this stage is cheaper than changing it after it has been built.

  3. 03

    Test

Try development builds on your own phone through TestFlight or Google Play testing tracks. Your feedback comes from using the app on a device.

  4. 04

    Measure

We include analytics and crash reporting in the first release, so you can see which screens people use, where they give up and which devices crash.

  5. 05

    Launch

We handle the store listings, submission and review under your own developer accounts. You retain control of those accounts as the app moves towards release.

Checklist

What to have ready before we talk

Gather these details before the work starts.

  • Developer accountsPlan to register Apple and Google accounts in your company’s name; organisation accounts need a D-U-N-S number.
  • Connected systemsList your website, CRM, booking system and payment provider, including API availability and who holds admin access.
  • Privacy policyPrepare a policy that matches the information the app collects, for links inside the app and on its Apple listing.
  • Google Play testingNew personal developer accounts have a closed-testing requirement before production release.
  • Review accessIf the app has a login, prepare a working demo account and live backend for Apple’s review.

Cost & time

What affects the cost and timeline of mobile app development

The scope determines how much design, backend work and testing the project needs.

  • Live features

Tracking, chat and presence need persistent connections and more backend work than screens that load data on request.

  • Screen design

Custom animation, additional languages and tablet layouts add design and testing across screens.

  • User content

Posts from users need moderation features, including reporting, blocking and filtering objectionable material.

  • Notifications

Sending them needs a service, rules for recipients and timing, plus settings for users to switch off categories.

Questions

Asked by businesses in Saskatoon

Page updated 5 November 2026

How much does it cost to develop an app?

There is no fixed price. The number of user roles affects the screens and permissions to build, while each connection to a payment gateway, booking system or other service adds setup, testing and failure handling. Agree the scope with us before asking for a quote, so it reflects the work your app actually needs.

How should I choose an app development company?

Choose a team that can explain what the app will let people do and why those tasks belong in an app. Ask how it will handle access before sign-up. Apple expects apps without significant account-based features to allow use without logging in, and a repackaged website risks rejection.

Can the app share accounts with my website?

Yes. We can build a backend that serves your app, website and admin tools. Plan account deletion at the same time: Apple requires users to be able to start deleting an account in the app, and Google Play also requires an in-app deletion path and a web link for requests.

Who owns the app and its code?

You own your code, domain and content, with no lock-in. Keep the developer accounts, signing access and code repository in your business’s name too. That gives you control of the assets needed to move the app later if you decide to change who works on it.

What happens after the app is launched?

We provide ongoing support for bug fixes, operating-system updates and new features. Plan regular maintenance releases: Google Play requires apps and updates to target a recent Android API level. Track returning users, drop-off in the main task and the crash-free rate to see how the app is performing in use.
