What you get

What’s included in mobile app development

  • App design

Screens and flows designed for iOS and Android conventions.

  • Cross-platform build

One React Native codebase for both platforms, with native modules where needed.

  • Backend & APIs

Accounts, data, notifications and admin tools behind the app.

  • Push notifications

Timely, targeted notifications that bring people back.

  • Payments & subscriptions

In-app purchases and subscriptions on both stores.

  • Store launch

App Store and Google Play listings, submission and release.

Tools we use: React Native, Expo, Swift, Kotlin, Firebase, Node.js.

Choosing

Should you build a cross-platform app or go native?

A cross-platform app is a practical choice when your main tasks involve accounts, forms, lists, maps, bookings, payments or content. React Native shares most of its code across iOS and Android while rendering each platform’s own interface components. It uses JavaScript or TypeScript, so web developers can contribute, and some logic can be shared with a React website. We generally use React Native and go native when an app needs deep device features.

Flutter is another cross-platform option. It draws its own interface, which suits a heavily branded design intended to look identical on both platforms, but your team needs to be willing to work in Dart. A progressive web app is worth considering for a staff tool: it skips store review, though it needs packaging to appear in app stores. On an iPhone, it can ask to send notifications only after it has been added to the Home Screen.

Local

What Washington businesses need from an app

Manufacturing and agricultural businesses in Washington may have people collecting information away from the office. For a delivery, maintenance or inspection team, an app can bring job forms, photos, signatures and location into the same workflow. Decide early what staff need to record without a signal and what should sync back to the office when a connection returns.

Washington’s software businesses may already have customers using a web platform. When those customers use it frequently, an app can give them access to the same accounts and data without creating a separate system for each channel. Start with the task people return to most often, then decide which parts of the existing backend the app needs to use.

Rules

What a United States app project needs to handle

For a state or local government app, the ADA Title II rule requires WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We design the app screens against that requirement and plan accessibility checks as part of the build, so the requirement is considered while screens and flows are being specified.

Checkout also needs an early decision. Stripe is available to businesses in the United States, but Apple and Google Play require their in-app purchase systems for digital goods or subscriptions in the app. We set up the payment flow around what you sell; physical goods and services need another payment method, such as a card gateway.

How it runs

How an app project runs with us

India is 13h30m ahead of Pacific time in winter, with a gap 1 hour shorter during daylight saving time. We keep work moving remotely through video calls, WhatsApp and a shared project board, where feedback and decisions have a place between conversations.

  1. 01

    Agree the scope

We learn about your business, audience and goals with you, then agree what the project needs to cover before design starts.

  2. 02

    Design the screens

We prepare iOS and Android screens and flows, then refine them with your feedback before writing code.

  3. 03

    Build and test

We send test builds to your phone through TestFlight or Google Play’s internal or closed testing tracks, so you can give feedback from actual use.

  4. 04

    Prepare for review

If the app has a login, provide a working demo account and keep the backend live for submission. Leave room to fix issues and resubmit.

  5. 05

    Launch

We handle the App Store and Google Play listings, submission and release, with the same team handling design, development and launch.

Checklist

What to have ready before we talk

Bring enough detail to make the first discussion useful; the scope can then be agreed together.

  • List the tasks users need in the first release, in the order they will do them.
  • Start registering Apple and Google developer accounts in your company’s name; organisation accounts need a D-U-N-S number.
  • Prepare a privacy policy that matches the data the app collects, for the app and its Apple store listing.
  • If using a new personal Google Play account, plan a closed test with at least 12 testers opted in for at least 14 days.
  • Identify a few customers or staff who can try a clickable prototype and give feedback before the screens are built.

Cost & time

What affects the cost and timeline of an app

The amount of design, backend and testing work changes with the scope you agree.

  • User roles

Customers, drivers and staff each need their own screens and permissions, even with a shared backend.

  • Live features

Tracking, chat and presence need persistent connections and more backend work than data loaded on request.

  • Existing systems

A documented backend API reduces the work; a new backend and admin panel add a substantial build.

  • Interface variations

Custom animation, additional languages, right-to-left scripts and tablet layouts add design and testing across screens.

  • User-generated content

Allowing people to post content adds filtering, reporting, blocking and contact details to the work.

Avoid

Mistakes to avoid when building an app

  • Wrapping a website in an app shell

Give people useful app functionality, since Apple expects more than a repackaged website.

  • Forcing an early sign-up

Let people explore without logging in when the app has no significant account-based features.

  • Asking for notifications immediately

Ask when the benefit is clear, such as after an order. On Android 13 and later, notifications stay off until permission is granted.

  • Adding an analytics or advertising SDK late

Update Google Play’s Data safety answers to cover the data that third-party SDK collects.

Questions

Asked by businesses in Washington

Page updated 5 November 2026

How much does it cost to develop an app?

There is no fixed price. Offline editing and sync, including conflict handling, add more work than showing the last loaded data without a signal. Push notifications also need a sending service, audience rules and settings for notification categories. We send a free quote once the scope is agreed.

How do I choose an app development company?

Choose a team that can take responsibility for the whole product and explain how staff will manage it after launch. We handle design, development and launch with the same team. Discuss the admin panel as well as the phone screens: staff may need to look up customers, issue refunds or block abusive accounts.

What is included in an app build?

The scope can include the app, its backend and connections to your existing services. We build a shared backend for your app, website and admin tools, so accounts and data live in one place. We also build in-app purchases and subscriptions for both app stores when those are part of the agreed scope.

Who owns the app and store accounts?

You own your code, content and domain, with no lock-in. We handle store listings, submission and review under your own developer accounts. Registering those accounts in your company’s name gives you a clear place to manage the app’s presence in the stores after release.

What happens after the app launches?

Launch is followed by ongoing support, including bug fixes, updates for new iOS and Android versions, and new features. Plan maintenance releases: Google Play requires apps and updates to target a recent Android API level, and out-of-date apps can become unavailable to new users on newer devices.

Does an app need an account deletion option?

Yes, if people can create accounts in the app. Apple requires an option to start deleting the account inside the app; deactivation alone is not enough. Google Play also requires an in-app path to delete the account and associated data, plus a web link where people can request deletion.
