Choosing
Should you choose cross-platform or native development?
For many apps, we use React Native: one codebase covers iOS and Android, with native modules where a feature needs them. It uses JavaScript or TypeScript and renders each platform’s own interface components. If you have a React website, some logic can be shared, and web developers can contribute to the app.
Native development fits an app built around deep device features, heavy graphics or complex background work. Swift is used for iPhone and Kotlin for Android, so you have two codebases to build and maintain. We go native when the device features justify that extra work.
Flutter is another cross-platform option. It uses Dart and draws its own interface, which suits a heavily branded design that needs to look identical across platforms. Your team needs to be comfortable working in Dart, so consider who will maintain the code as well as how the screens should look.
Local
What organisations in District of Columbia need from an app
Industry associations, nonprofits and think tanks are part of the District of Columbia’s organisational landscape. If your organisation runs appointments, an app could give visitors booking, reminders and payments, while staff see the day’s schedule.
Federal departments and agencies also have headquarters here. If your work involves field inspections or maintenance, your staff may need forms, photos, signatures and job locations available offline, with records synced to the office when signal returns.
The district receives domestic and international visitors. If your shop or restaurant serves them alongside repeat customers, think about fast checkout, reordering and saved payment details, with notifications timed around what customers actually need.
Rules
What a US app project has to handle
If you build for a state or local government body, its mobile app must meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA under the ADA Title II rule. We use that standard when designing and building the app’s screens and flows, including tasks such as booking or account creation, and review the work against it.
US businesses can sign up to accept payments with Stripe. If Stripe is your chosen provider, we set up the payment integration as part of the app work and plan the checkout flow around what you sell.
How it runs
How an app project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is 10h30m ahead of Eastern time in winter and 1 hour less during daylight saving time. The shared board gives you a place to leave decisions and feedback between calls, so work can move across that time difference.

Discover
Tell us about your business, audience and goals. We agree the scope with you before design starts.
- 02
Design
We design iOS and Android screens and refine them with your feedback before writing code. Review the flows with the people who will use them.
- 03
Prototype
Put the clickable design in front of a few customers or staff. Their feedback gives you a chance to change screens before they are built.
- 04
Build and test
We send test builds to your phone through TestFlight or Google Play testing tracks. Use the app and tell us where a task is difficult.
- 05
Launch
We handle the store listings, submission and review under your own developer accounts. You retain control of those accounts.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
These details help us plan your app’s screens and flows for iOS and Android.
- List what users must do in the first release, in the order they will do it.
- List your website, CRM, booking or payment systems; note their APIs and who holds admin access.
- Prepare a privacy policy that matches the data the app collects; Apple requires links in the listing and app.
- Check your Google Play account type. New personal accounts need a closed test before production release.
- If users create accounts, plan an in-app deletion path for Apple.
- For Google Play, also plan a web link where users can request account and data deletion.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and time of development
The scope of the work determines the effort needed to build and test it.
Offline work
Showing previously loaded data takes less work than editing records offline and resolving conflicts when they sync.
Existing systems
A backend with a documented API can reduce the work; a new backend and admin panel add a substantial build.
User-generated content
Posting features need moderation tools, including reporting, blocking and filtering objectionable material.
In-app sales
Digital subscriptions and physical services follow different Google Play billing rules, so the checkout needs to fit what you sell.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid with your app
Wrapping a website in an app shell
Plan a useful app experience. Apple asks for more than a repackaged website.
Requiring sign-in too early
Let people see and use relevant features without an account when the app has no significant account-based features.
Adding an analytics or advertising SDK without revisiting privacy answers: Update Google Play’s Data safety form to cover data collected by those third-party tools.
Questions

Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to develop an app?
There is no fixed price. The work grows with each type of user that needs separate screens and permissions, and with real-time features such as chat or live tracking that need persistent connections. Once we agree the scope, ask us for a quote covering the work you need.
Which company should I choose for app development?
Choose a team you can speak to directly about the work and the decisions behind it. With us, you talk to the people designing and building your product. Ask how notifications will be managed too: they need a sending service, audience and timing rules, and settings for users.
What is included behind the app screens?
An app project often includes the phone app, a backend and an admin panel. We can build a shared backend for your app, website and admin tools, keeping customer accounts and data in one place. Staff can use the admin panel to manage content and look up customers.
Will I own the app and its accounts?
You own your code, content and domain, with no lock-in. Keep the developer accounts, signing access and code repositories in your business’s name as well. That makes it easier to move the app later if you decide to work with a different developer.
What happens to the app after launch?
Plan for maintenance releases and check how the app performs in use. Google Play requires apps and updates to target a recent Android API level. Track how many users return, where they leave the main task and the crash-free rate to assess each release.
Could a web app be enough instead?
A progressive web app can suit a staff tool and skips store review. It will not appear in the app stores unless packaged for them, though, and on iPhone it can only ask to send notifications after the user adds it to the Home Screen.
