Mobile app developers for Cardiff businesses
You get a mobile app built around the tasks your customers or staff need to complete, with accounts, data and admin tools behind it. For your Cardiff business, we can design screens for iOS and Android, build push notifications and handle store submission. MSH Technologies is a studio in India, and we work with you remotely from discovery through launch.

Tools we use: React Native, Expo, Swift, Kotlin, Firebase, Node.js.
Choosing
Should you choose cross-platform or native development?
For an app built around accounts, forms, bookings, payments or content, a cross-platform build is often a practical choice. We usually use React Native, sharing a codebase across iOS and Android and adding native modules where a feature needs them. React Native uses each platform’s own interface components, and some logic can also be shared with a React web app.
A native build suits an app centred on deep device features, heavy graphics or complex background work. It gives you access to those platform capabilities, with separate Swift and Kotlin codebases to build and maintain. Flutter is another cross-platform option: it draws its own interface, which suits a heavily customised design, though your team needs to work in Dart.
Start with what people need to do on their phones. We learn about your business, audience and goals, then agree the scope with you; that gives us a basis for choosing the approach that fits the features you need.
Local
What Cardiff organisations need from an app
Cardiff is Wales’s main commercial centre. A shop or restaurant serving repeat customers could use an app for reordering, loyalty and saved payment details, with a fast checkout and notifications sent at a useful point in the order.
Finance and business services organisations are also based in Cardiff. For a business whose customers frequently use an existing web platform, an app can reuse their accounts and data, giving customers access to the same service on their phones.
Cardiff is home to major higher education institutions. An institution with maintenance or inspection teams could use job forms that capture photos, signatures and location offline, then sync them to the office when signal returns.
How it runs
How a mobile app project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is 5h30m ahead of the UK, or 4h30m during British Summer Time; the shared board keeps decisions and feedback visible across the time difference.

Discover
Tell us about your business, audience and goals. We agree the scope with you before moving into design, so the work has a clear starting point.
- 02
Design
We refine the iOS and Android screens with your feedback before writing code. Put the clickable prototype in front of customers or staff; changes at this stage cost less than changes after the build.
- 03
Build
We develop the backend and APIs for accounts, data, notifications and admin tools. You can check that the information your team needs is available behind the app.
- 04
Prepare for release
We handle the store listings, submission and review under your developer accounts. If the app has a login, provide a working demo account and live backend, and leave room for fixes and resubmission.
- 05
Measure
We include analytics and crash reporting in the first release, so you can see which screens people use, where they give up and which devices crash.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Bring a short list of first-release tasks in the order users would complete them.
- Developer accountsStart registering Apple and Google accounts in your company’s name. Organisation verification needs a D-U-N-S number.
- Google testingNew personal developer accounts need a closed test with at least 12 testers, opted in for at least 14 days, before production release.
- Existing systemsList your website, booking system, CRM and payment provider. Note which have an API and who holds admin access.
- Shared dataIdentify the accounts and information your app, website and admin tools need to use from the same backend.
- AccessKeep developer accounts, signing access and the code repository in your business’s name so the app is easier to move later.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline of an app
The amount of work depends on the features you choose and the systems they need to connect to.
Integrations
A payment gateway, booking system, CRM or scanner needs setup, testing and a plan for handling failures.
Real-time features
Live tracking, chat and presence need persistent connections and more backend work than screens that load data on request.
Screen design
Custom animation, additional languages, right-to-left scripts and tablet layouts each add design and testing across the screens they affect.
User-generated content
If people can post content, the build needs filtering, reporting, user blocking and published contact details to meet Apple’s requirements.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid when building an app
Wrapping a website in an app shell
Apple expects more than a repackaged site. Plan tasks or features that give people a reason to install the app.
Asking for notifications too early
Request permission when the benefit is clear, such as after an order. On Android 13 and later, notifications stay off until the user allows them.
Adding a third-party SDK without reviewing privacy answers
Update Google Play’s Data safety form to cover the data collected by analytics or advertising SDKs in the app.

Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to have an app developed?
There is no fixed price. The main drivers include whether you have a documented backend API, whether we need to build an admin panel, and how much offline work users need to do. Saving the last loaded data is a smaller task than offline editing and conflict handling. We send a free quote once the scope is agreed.
How should I choose an app development company?
Choose a developer who can show you working builds on your own phone and explain how feedback reaches the build. We use TestFlight on iPhone and Google Play’s internal or closed testing tracks, so you can try the app in real use during development.
What is included behind the app screens?
The work can include a backend shared by your app, website and admin tools. If users can create accounts, deletion needs a route inside the app for Apple and Google Play. Google Play also requires a web link where people can request deletion of the account and associated data.
Will I own the app code?
Yes. You own your code, domain and content, with no lock-in. That gives your business control over those assets after the project; keep a record of where the code and domain are held so the people responsible for them can find them.
What happens after the app launches?
Ongoing support covers bug fixes, updates for new iOS and Android versions, and new features. Plan maintenance releases: Google Play requires apps and updates to target a recent Android API level, and an out-of-date app can become unavailable to new users on newer devices.
Can customers pay or subscribe in the app?
Yes. We build in-app purchases and subscriptions for both stores. The payment route depends on what you sell: Apple requires in-app purchase for digital content, features and subscriptions used in the app, while physical goods and services used outside it need another method, such as a card gateway.
