What you get

What’s included in mobile app development

  • App design

Screens and flows designed for iOS and Android conventions.

  • Cross-platform build

One React Native codebase for both platforms, with native modules where needed.

  • Backend & APIs

Accounts, data, notifications and admin tools behind the app.

  • Push notifications

Timely, targeted notifications that bring people back.

  • Payments & subscriptions

In-app purchases and subscriptions on both stores.

  • Store launch

App Store and Google Play listings, submission and release.

Tools we use: React Native, Expo, Swift, Kotlin, Firebase, Node.js.

Choosing

Should you build cross-platform, native or a web app?

React Native shares most of its code across iOS and Android. It suits apps centred on accounts, forms, bookings, maps, payments or content. We usually build with React Native and add native modules when a feature needs them. That gives you a shared codebase to maintain while still accommodating features that need platform-specific work.

A fully native build suits deeper device features, heavy graphics or complex background work. The trade-off is a separate codebase for each platform. Flutter is another cross-platform option: it draws its own interface and suits a heavily customised design, though your development team needs to work in Dart.

A progressive web app is worth considering for a staff tool. It avoids store review, but it will not appear in the app stores unless packaged for them. On an iPhone, it can ask for notification permission only after someone adds it to the Home Screen. Start with the tasks people need to complete and the device features those tasks require.

Local

What Sunshine Coast organisations need from an app

Healthcare and professional services are part of the Sunshine Coast economy. For a clinic, an app can bring bookings, reminders and payments into the same customer flow, with a staff view of the day's schedule. That staff view needs attention alongside the screens your patients use, so your team can manage appointments without calling a developer for routine changes.

Tourism brings visitors to the region, while shops and restaurants also need ways to serve repeat customers. For a shop or restaurant app, reordering, loyalty and saved payment details give customers a reason to return. A fast checkout and notifications sent at a useful moment support those tasks.

Rules

What an app project in Australia has to handle

Australian accessibility guidance recommends WCAG 2.2 Level AA for digital goods and services. We use that target when designing app screens, including clear labels and navigation that people can use with assistive technology.

Australian card surcharge rules affect checkout settings for payments on the eftpos, Mastercard and Visa networks. We set up the checkout without those card surcharges. For digital content and subscriptions used inside an iPhone app, we also account for Apple's in-app purchase requirements; physical goods and outside services use another payment method.

How it runs

How an app project runs with us

We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is 4h30m behind Brisbane, and Queensland does not change its clocks for daylight saving. The shared board gives you a place to leave feedback and see the work while our working hours differ.

    Discover

Tell us about your business, audience and goals. We agree the scope with you before moving into design.

  2. 02

    Design

We prepare iOS and Android screens and refine them with your feedback before writing code.

  3. 03

    Try the prototype

Put the clickable screens in front of customers or staff. Their feedback helps you change a flow before it is built.

  4. 04

    Test on your phone

We share test builds through TestFlight or Google Play testing tracks, so you can try the app in use and tell us what needs attention.

  5. 05

    Prepare for submission

If the app has a login, provide a working demo account. The backend needs to be live, and the launch plan needs room for fixes and resubmission.

  6. 06

    Release

We handle the App Store and Google Play listings, submission and release.

Checklist

What to have ready before we talk

Bring the details that shape the first release and its store submission.

  • List the actions users need to complete, in the order they will do them.
  • Note the website, booking system, CRM or payment provider involved, including API availability and who holds admin access.
  • Prepare a privacy policy that matches the data the app collects; it needs links in the app and its Apple listing.
  • Check whether your Google Play developer account needs a closed test before production release.
  • If users create accounts, plan an in-app deletion path and a web link for deletion requests.
  • Decide what people can use before signing in, especially if account features are not central to the app.

Cost & time

What affects the cost and timeline

The work grows with the flows, connections and administration your app needs.

  • User roles

Customers, drivers and staff each need their own screens and permissions.

  • Live features

Tracking and chat need persistent connections and more backend work than screens that load data on request.

  • Integrations

Each payment gateway, booking system or device connection needs setup, testing and failure handling.

  • User content

Posts or other submissions need filtering, reporting and blocking tools, plus published contact details.

  • Existing systems

A documented backend API can reduce the work; a new backend and admin panel need building from scratch.

Questions

Asked by businesses in Sunshine Coast

Page updated 5 November 2026

How much does it cost to develop an app?

There is no fixed price. The main drivers include the backend and admin tools needed alongside the phone app, and the level of offline working. Showing previously loaded data takes less work than letting users edit records offline and resolving conflicts when they sync. Agree the scope before requesting a quote.

How should I choose an app development company?

Choose a team that can explain what the app will do beyond displaying your website. Apple expects more than a repackaged site, and an app shell gives people little reason to install it. Ask a prospective developer to walk through the customer task on a phone and explain how the proposed app supports it.

Can the app use the same data as my website?

Yes. We can build a shared backend for your app, website and admin tools, so customer accounts and data sit in the same place. That backend can also support the accounts, notifications and administrative functions behind the app. Bring details of your existing systems when discussing the scope.

Will I own the app and its store accounts?

Yes. You own your code, content and domain, and we handle store submission under your own developer accounts. Keep the signing access and code repository in your business's name too; accounts held by an agency or freelancer can make the app harder to move later.

What support does an app need after launch?

Plan for bug fixes, operating system updates and new features after release. Google Play requires apps and updates to target a recent Android API level, so maintenance releases need attention. We also recommend watching where users leave the main task and tracking the crash-free rate after a release.
