Choosing
Should you choose cross-platform or native development?
We usually build with React Native, sharing one codebase across iOS and Android and adding native modules where a feature needs them. It uses JavaScript or TypeScript and renders each platform’s own interface components. If you already have a React web app, some logic can be shared, and web developers can contribute to the mobile code.
Native development uses Swift for iPhone and Kotlin for Android. It suits an app that depends on deep device features, heavy graphics, complex background work or new platform features at launch. The trade-off is maintaining a separate codebase for each platform. That affects the build and the work that follows each release.
Flutter is another cross-platform option. It uses Dart and draws its own interface, which suits a heavily branded design that needs to look identical across platforms. Your team would need to be willing to work in Dart. When you compare approaches, consider the features the app needs and who will maintain its code after launch.

What Powai organisations might need from an app
Powai has start-ups in technology and other sectors. If you are launching a consumer or marketplace product, a shared codebase can cover both stores, while analytics show whether people return after installing. Decide what users need to complete in the app before adding more screens.
IIT Bombay and the Indian Institute of Management Mumbai are located in Powai. For an organisation whose users already return frequently to a web platform, an app can reuse the existing accounts, data and backend. That gives users access to the same information on their phones.
Schools and colleges in Powai include S M Shetty School and College and Chandrabhan Sharma College. An organisation planning an app with updates for users needs notification rules for who receives each message and when, plus settings where people can switch off categories they do not want.

What an app project in India has to handle
UPI supports person-to-merchant payments in India. For physical goods or services used outside the app, we set up checkout through a payment gateway, with UPI in scope where you want to offer it. Digital content and subscriptions used inside the app have different store requirements: Apple requires in-app purchase, while Google Play requires its billing system, with some regional exceptions.
How it runs
How a mobile app development project runs with us
We work remotely from India using video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. You can review the work and give feedback without needing to meet in person.
- 01
Discover
We learn about your business, audience and goals. You tell us what users need to do, and we agree the scope together before the build starts.
- 02
Design
We prepare screens for iOS and Android. You review the flows and give feedback, so the designs can be refined before any code is written.
- 03
Test
During development, test builds reach your phone through TestFlight on iPhone or a Google Play testing track. You can try the app in real use and share feedback.
- 04
Prepare for submission
If the app has a login, have a working demo account and live backend ready for Apple’s review. Allow room in your launch plan for fixes and resubmission if needed.
- 05
Release
We handle the store listings, submission and review under your own developer accounts. You retain access to the accounts used to publish the app.

- Account deletionPlan an in-app deletion path and a web request link if users can create accounts.
- Existing websiteIdentify what the app will offer beyond a repackaged version of the site.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and time of development
The work changes with the features, connections and screens in your agreed scope.
Live features
Tracking, chat and presence need persistent connections and more backend work than screens that load data on request.
Integrations
A payment gateway, maps or booking system adds setup, testing and handling for failures.
Screen design
Custom animation, extra languages, right-to-left scripts and tablet layouts add design and testing across screens.
User content
Posts from users need filtering, reporting and blocking tools, plus published contact details.
Questions
Asked by businesses in Powai
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to develop an app?
There is no fixed price: the scope drives the cost. Offline viewing of recently loaded data is less work than creating and editing records offline with conflict handling. Separate customer, driver and staff roles also need their own screens and permissions, even when they share a backend.
How do I choose an app development company?
Choose a team that can explain its decisions about the user experience. Ask when it would request notification permission and what someone can do before signing up. Permission requests work better when the benefit is clear; Apple also expects apps without significant account-based features to allow use without a login.
What is included in an app build?
The scope can include push notifications, in-app purchases and subscriptions, alongside analytics and crash reporting. In the first release, tools such as Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics or Sentry can show which screens people use, where they give up and which devices crash. Agree the features you need before development begins.
Will I own the app and its code?
You own your code, content and domain, with no lock-in. Keep your developer accounts, signing access and code repository in your business’s name too. Accounts held in an agency’s or freelancer’s name can make the app difficult to move if you change who maintains it.
What happens after the app launches?
Launch is followed by ongoing support for bug fixes, operating-system updates and new features. Some JavaScript and content fixes can be sent over the air; native code changes and new permissions still need a store release. Review retention, task drop-off and the crash-free rate to understand how a release is performing.
