Choosing
Should you choose cross-platform, native or a web app?
For apps built around bookings, accounts, forms, payments or content, a cross-platform build is often a practical choice. We usually use React Native, sharing a codebase across iOS and Android and adding native modules when a feature needs them. It uses JavaScript or TypeScript and renders each platform’s own interface components. Some logic can also be shared with a React web app.
A native build gives you a separate app for each platform. It fits products that depend on deep device features, heavy graphics, complex background work or new platform features at launch. The trade-off is maintaining separate codebases. We help you choose by looking at what your app needs to do on the device.
A progressive web app is another option, especially for staff tools. It skips store review, but it does not appear in the app stores unless packaged for them. On an iPhone, it can ask to send notifications only after someone adds it to their Home Screen.
Market
What do app users in India expect?
Repeat customers at shops and restaurants need a quick checkout, saved payment details and a straightforward way to reorder. Appointment businesses such as clinics, salons and gyms need booking, reminders and a staff view of the day’s schedule. Start with the action your customers return to most often.
UPI supports payments between people and merchants. We plan the checkout around what you sell: Apple requires in-app purchase for digital content, features and subscriptions used in the app, while physical goods and services used outside it need another payment method. We set up the relevant in-app purchases and subscriptions for your app.
Rules
What does an app project in India need to handle?
If your checkout uses a non-bank provider that aggregates customer payments for merchants, that provider must be authorised as a payment aggregator. Razorpay and Cashfree Payments have received that authorisation. We set up the checkout with the selected provider, so the payment integration is part of the build plan from the start. Tell us which provider you use and who holds its admin access; that gives the project a clear starting point for connecting the app to your payment setup.
How it runs
How a mobile app development project runs with us
You speak directly to the people designing and building your product. Bring the questions and decisions to the project discussions, and we will work through them with you.
- 01
Discover
We learn about your business, audience and goals. You tell us what people need to do in the app, and we agree the scope together.
- 02
Design
We prepare iOS and Android screens and refine them with your feedback before writing code. You can review the flows while they are still designs.
- 03
Test the prototype
Put the clickable prototype in front of a few customers or staff. Their feedback helps you change a screen before it is built, when that change is far cheaper.
- 04
Build
We develop the agreed product and test it on real devices and browsers. Your feedback continues to guide the work as the screens and underlying systems come together.
- 05
Release
We handle store listings, submission and review under your own developer accounts. You keep control of those accounts while we manage the submission work.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Bring what you have; these details help us plan the build and submission.
- Developer accountsRegister Apple and Google accounts in your company’s name. Organisation accounts need a D-U-N-S number for business verification.
- Existing systemsList your website, CRM, booking or ERP software and payment provider. Note which have an API and who holds admin access.
- Privacy policyHave a policy that matches the data your app collects. Apple requires a link in the store listing and inside the app.
- Review accessIf the app has a login, prepare a working demo account and a live backend for Apple’s submission review.
- TestersNew personal Google Play developer accounts need a closed test before production release, so identify people willing to opt in.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline of mobile app development?
The scope determines how much design, development and testing the project needs.
User roles
Customers, drivers and staff each need their own screens and permissions, even when they share a backend.
Integrations
A payment gateway, maps, CRM, booking system or hardware connection each needs setup, testing and failure handling.
Screen variations
Custom animation, additional languages, right-to-left scripts and tablet layouts add design and testing across screens.
User-generated content
Posts or other contributions need moderation tools. Apple requires filtering, reporting, user blocking and published contact details.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid with mobile app development
Wrapping your website in an app shell
Apple expects more than a repackaged site. Plan useful app features before submitting it to the store.
Forcing sign-up too early
Let people use the app without logging in when it has no significant account-based features.
Asking for notification permission at first launch
Ask when the benefit is clear, such as after an order. On Android 13 and later, notifications remain off until the user allows them.
Adding a tracking SDK without updating privacy answers
Include data collected by third-party SDKs in Google Play’s Data safety form.
Questions
Asked by businesses in India
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to have an app developed?
There is no fixed price. Offline editing with later syncing and conflict handling needs more work than showing the last loaded data without a signal. Live tracking or chat also adds persistent connections and backend work. Once we agree the scope, ask us for a quote and whether it is free.
How do I choose an app development company?
Choose a team that can explain the full product and who will manage it. Alongside the app on a phone, ask about the backend and an admin panel. Your staff may need to edit content, look up customers, issue refunds or block abusive accounts without calling a developer for each task.
Can my app and website share customer data?
Yes. We can build a backend that serves your app, website and admin tools, keeping customer accounts and data in one place. That gives you a shared foundation for the parts of your business that use the same information, including the tools your staff use to manage it.
Does my app need an account deletion option?
If people can create accounts, the app needs a path to start deleting them. Apple does not accept deactivation alone. Google Play also requires an in-app path to delete the account and associated data, plus a web link where people can request deletion. We include those paths in the account flow.
Will I own the app code?
Yes. You own your code, content and domain, with no lock-in. That gives you control over those assets after the build. Ask us about ownership as you agree the scope, so you know which assets belong to you before work begins and can plan how you will manage them.
What happens after the app launches?
We provide ongoing support for bug fixes, operating system updates and new features. Plan maintenance releases: Google Play requires apps and updates to target a recent Android API level. Some JavaScript and content fixes can go out over the air, while native code changes and new permissions still need a store release.
