Choosing
Should you choose WordPress or a custom website?
WordPress is worth considering when your team wants to edit content regularly. An editor for pages, news, projects and careers gives you a way to keep the site current without asking a developer for each content change. Think about who will make those updates and which parts of the site they need to manage.
A custom-coded site in Next.js suits a business that wants fast pages, tight security and a design without template limits. It is a good fit when you are happy for a developer to handle structural changes. A headless setup adds a separate content editor to a custom front end, giving a team room for heavy editing, though there are more parts to host and maintain.
Hosted builders such as Wix, Squarespace and Webflow suit small sites an owner wants to run alone. You give up some control over code and speed, and moving away later can mean rebuilding. We recommend an approach after learning how your team works and what it needs to edit.
Local
What Sydney organisations need from a website
Sydney has strengths in finance and manufacturing. A finance practice needs clear service and partner pages so prospective clients can check expertise and credentials before making contact. A manufacturer or supplier needs capability or product pages, certifications and downloadable specifications, with a quote form that asks for enough detail to prepare a useful response.
Sydney is also home to the University of Sydney and the University of New South Wales. For an education organisation planning a website, the sitemap and page structure need owners from the start, alongside the content editor, forms and search setup. Agreeing those responsibilities helps the people involved prepare the material each part of the site needs.
Rules
What an Australian website project needs to handle
Australian guidance on equal access to digital goods and services recommends WCAG 2.2 at a minimum of Level AA. We agree an accessibility target in your brief and set up the sitemap, wireframes and desktop and mobile page designs with that target in view. Your feedback helps refine those designs before the build. Agreeing the target early gives both teams a clear reference when reviewing the pages and their structure.
How it runs
How a website project runs with us
We work remotely through video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India time is 4h30m behind your local time, or 5h30m behind during daylight saving. The shared board keeps the work and feedback visible across that difference.
- 01
Discover
We learn about your business, audience and goals. You tell us what the site needs to do, and we agree the scope together.
- 02
Plan the pages
We prepare wireframes before visual design. You review what goes on each page and its order, leaving colours for the later design review.
- 03
Build and test
We build the site in code or with a content management system your team can edit, then test it on real devices and browsers.
- 04
Check before launch
You proofread every page, submit each form once and confirm who receives the messages. This catches small errors visitors would otherwise see.
- 05
Launch
We set up the domain, email, analytics and Search Console, then walk your team through the handover.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Gather these details to make the first discussion more useful.
- A goal for the site, such as quote requests or job applications, and who handles each enquiry.
- Vector logo files, brand colours and fonts, or a note that they still need creating.
- Sites you like and dislike, with a short reason for each.
- Login details for your domain, hosting, email and search tools, or the name of the account holder.
- Photos of your team, premises and finished work; book a photo shoot ahead if needed.
- A folder of case studies, permitted client logos, testimonials, certifications and memberships.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and time of a website
The scope determines how much design, build and checking work is needed.
Page templates
Distinct layouts need more design and build work than pages sharing a template.
Features
Booking, calculators, member logins, languages and CRM connections add design, development and testing work.
Content migration
Moving blog posts, news archives and downloadable files from an old site adds transfer and checking work.
Brand readiness
An existing logo and style guide reduce design work compared with deciding the logo, colours and typefaces during the project.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid when building your website
Leaving content until the end
Use real headings and paragraphs in designs, since their length can change a layout.
Reviewing only on a large screen
Check every page on a phone before approving the design.
Leaving search setup until launch
Check page titles, the sitemap and development indexing settings before the site goes live.
Putting accounts in an agency’s name
Hold the domain and hosting accounts in your business name and grant access to the people doing the work.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Sydney
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to have a website built?
There is no fixed price. The main drivers include the scope of the page designs, whether a custom design or an adapted template fits, and the content that needs gathering. Once we agree the scope, we send you a free quote so you can review what the work covers.
Should I choose WordPress or a custom site?
Choose based on how your team will use the site. We build in WordPress when your team needs full editing control, or in Next.js for a custom build. Bring your existing logo, colours and fonts to the discussion; we can build on them and prepare brand assets for the web where needed.
What is included in the search setup?
The build includes page titles and descriptions, a clear heading structure, an XML sitemap, structured data and fast pages. Setting these up during the build takes less effort than fixing them later. It gives each page a clear structure for search without promising a particular ranking.
Will I own the website?
Yes. You own the domain, content and code, with no lock-in. Keep the account details and your website materials accessible to the people responsible for them in your business, so your team can make decisions about the site after handover.
Can you support the website after launch?
Yes. Ongoing support follows launch. You should also decide who will update news, projects and job posts, and measure the site by enquiries. Track form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks as conversions in analytics, then check which pages those enquiries started from.
Is a website still worth building?
A website is worth considering when it gives visitors a clear next step tied to your business goal. A product startup, for example, needs a plain explanation of its product and a way to join a waitlist or book a demo. Give those actions a clear place in the page plan.
