Choosing
Should you choose WordPress or a custom website?
WordPress suits a team that publishes often and wants to edit most of the site itself. Its choice of plugins gives you ways to extend the site, but someone needs to keep it updated for security. A custom-coded site, such as one built in Next.js, suits a business that wants fast pages and a design without template limits. Structural changes generally need a developer.
A hosted builder such as Wix, Squarespace or Webflow suits a small site you want to run on your own. The trade-off is less control over code and speed. Moving away later can mean rebuilding the site, so consider how much control you expect to need before you settle on a builder.
Start with the editing work. Think about who will update pages and how often, then look at which platform supports that routine. We recommend WordPress or a custom Next.js site after learning how your team works.
Local
What Newcastle organisations need from a website
Health services are a substantial part of Newcastle’s working life: the Hunter New England Area Health Service is among its largest employers. For appointment-based practices, a site needs service information, practitioner profiles, opening hours and a booking or call option that works on a phone.
The University of Newcastle is the city’s main provider of tertiary education, while the Tighes Hill campus offers business, hospitality and trades courses. Education organisations need a clear page structure that helps visitors find the information they came for, with ownership agreed for content and updates.
Newcastle’s coal-exporting harbour provides a context for engineering and construction work. For firms presenting that kind of work, a project portfolio with photos and project details gives prospective clients material to assess before making contact.
Rules
What an Australian website project needs to handle
Australian guidance on access to digital services recommends WCAG 2.2 at a minimum of Level AA. We agree an accessibility target in your brief and set that target for the page designs and build. Review the designs on a phone as well as a desktop: content order, controls and contact details need attention on the smaller screen, where visitors will also use the site.
How it runs
How a website project runs with us
We work remotely from India using video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is 4h30m behind Sydney, and 5h30m behind during daylight saving. The shared board keeps decisions and feedback available across the time difference.
- 01
Discovery
Tell us who buys from you, why they choose you and what you want visitors to do. We use those answers to shape the sitemap.
- 02
Wireframes
We establish what goes on each page and in what order. Your feedback here should focus on content and priorities; colours come later.
- 03
Build
We develop the site in clean code or with a content management system your team can edit, then test it on real devices and browsers.
- 04
Review
You proofread every page, submit each form and confirm who receives its messages. This is your chance to catch small errors before visitors see them.
- 05
Launch
We set up the domain, email, analytics and Search Console, then walk your team through the handover so you know where to find them.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Start with a clear goal for the site and the person who will handle each type of enquiry.
- Your logo in SVG, AI or EPS format, plus brand colours and fonts, or a note that they still need creating.
- Sites you like and dislike, with a short reason for each choice.
- Real photos of your team, premises and finished work; book photography ahead if you need it.
- Logins for your domain, hosting, email, analytics and Search Console, or the name of whoever holds them.
- A folder of case studies, permitted client logos, testimonials, certifications and memberships.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline
The platform choice changes the work involved, including who handles structural changes.
Page templates
Distinct layouts need separate design and build work; pages sharing a template take less effort.
Features
Booking, calculators, member logins, multiple languages and CRM connections add design, build and testing work.
Content migration
Moving old posts, news archives and downloadable files adds transfer and checking work.
Brand readiness
An existing logo and style guide reduce design work compared with deciding the logo, colours and typefaces during the project.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Newcastle
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to have a website built?
There is no fixed price. The choice between a custom design and an adapted template affects the work, as does the amount of content you need to gather or write. We agree the scope with you and send a free quote once that scope is agreed.
Can you design the site around our existing brand?
Yes. We build on your existing logo, colours and fonts, and prepare brand assets for the web where needed. When reviewing an existing site, you do not need to carry every old page forward: clear service pages can make the site easier to scan and keep current.
What is included in the website build?
The build includes an editor for pages, news, projects and careers, along with search setup. We add metadata, structured data and a sitemap. Before launch, check that a development indexing block has not been left in place; it can keep a new site out of search results.
Will we own the website?
Yes. You own the domain, content and code. Keep the domain and hosting accounts in your business’s name and grant access to the people working on the site. That way, you retain control of the accounts used to operate it.
What happens after the site goes live?
We provide ongoing support after launch. You should also decide who will update news, projects and job posts, so those sections stay current. In analytics, track form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks as conversions and check which pages visitors started from.
