Choosing
Should you choose WordPress or a custom website?
Start with the editing routine. WordPress suits a team that publishes often and wants to change most of the site itself. Its plugins offer a wide choice of features, though someone needs to keep them updated for security. A custom-coded site in Next.js suits a design with specific requirements and gives you control over the pages; structural changes generally need a developer.
A hosted builder such as Wix, Squarespace or Webflow suits a small site you want to run alone. You give up some control over code and speed, and moving away later can mean rebuilding. A separate editor paired with a custom front end is another option for heavy editing, though it adds hosting and maintenance work.
The design choice is separate from the platform. An adapted template can fit a simple brief when it is reworked around your real content; a custom design fits a more specific brand, audience or content structure.
Local
What Rockhampton businesses need from their websites
Health and tourism are strengths in Rockhampton’s economy. If you run an appointment-based practice, visitors need to understand your services, see who provides them and find opening hours without hunting through the site. A booking or call option that works on a phone gives them a practical next step after reading a practitioner profile.
Cattle trading is a dominant industry in Central Queensland. If you supply businesses involved in that trade, your site needs clear capability or product pages, relevant certifications and specifications people can download. A quote form should ask for enough detail for your team to respond properly, with the request reaching the person who handles it.
Rules
What an Australian website project needs to handle
Australian guidance on equal access to digital goods and services recommends WCAG 2.2 at a minimum of Level AA. We agree an accessibility target in your brief and use it to guide the sitemap, wireframes and desktop and mobile page designs. That gives you a target to review while the design is being refined with your feedback, before the build starts.
How it runs
How a website project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India time is 4h30m behind Brisbane, and Queensland does not change its clocks. The shared board gives us a place to keep decisions and feedback visible between calls.
- 01
Discover
We learn about your business, audience and goals, then agree the scope with you. Tell us who buys from you, why they choose you and what you want visitors to do.
- 02
Plan
We prepare wireframes before visual design. Your feedback at this stage helps settle what belongs on each page and its order; colours come later.
- 03
Build
We develop the agreed site in Next.js or WordPress. Your team’s editing needs help determine the approach.
- 04
Prepare for search
We set up page titles and descriptions, a clear heading structure, an XML sitemap and structured data during the build, when they take less effort than later fixes.
- 05
Launch
You proofread the pages and submit each form once, confirming who receives it. We set up the domain, email, analytics and Search Console, then walk your team through the site.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Bring what you have and identify who can fill the gaps.
- A ranked list of the services or products you want to feature.
- Your main goal, such as quote requests or calls, and who handles each enquiry.
- Sites you like and dislike, with a note explaining each choice.
- Real photos of your team, premises and completed work.
- A folder of case studies, testimonials, certifications and client logos you have permission to show.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline
The scope and the material you have ready both shape the work involved.
Content
Copy and photos ready to publish keep the work smaller; adding copywriting, photography or translation expands it.
Features
Booking, calculators, member logins, multiple languages or a CRM connection each add design, build and testing work.
Migration
Moving blog posts, news archives and downloadable files from an old site adds work to transfer and check the content.
Brand
An existing logo and style guide reduce design work compared with deciding the logo, colours and typefaces as part of the project.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Rockhampton
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to have a website built?
There is no fixed price. The number of pages, gathering service descriptions and photos, and reworking layouts designed around placeholder text all affect the work. Decide who will supply the content early and keep the page list focused. We send a free quote once the scope is agreed.
Can a custom website still have an editor?
Yes. A custom Next.js site can include an editor, so choosing a custom build does not mean every content change has to go through a developer. We recommend an approach after understanding how your team works and what it needs to edit.
Can you use our existing brand?
Yes. We can build on your existing logo, colours and fonts and prepare brand assets for use on the web where needed. Show us the assets you already use so the page designs can work with them.
Will we own the website?
Yes. You own the domain, content and code. Keep the domain and hosting accounts in your business’s name and grant access to the people working on the site; that way, you retain control of the accounts as well as the website itself.
What should we manage after launch?
Assign someone to keep news, projects and job posts current. You can also measure enquiries in analytics by tracking form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks as conversions, then checking which pages those enquiries started from. That gives your team something concrete to review.
