Choosing
Should you choose WordPress or a custom website?
WordPress suits a team that publishes often and wants to edit most of the site itself. Its choice of plugins offers flexibility, though someone needs to keep the site updated for security. Before choosing it, decide who will make changes and how frequently they will do so.
A hosted builder such as Wix, Squarespace or Webflow suits a small site that you want to run on your own. The trade-off is less control over code and speed. Moving away later could mean rebuilding the site, so consider how much control you want to retain.
A custom design fits a brand, audience or set of content with specific needs. An adapted template can suit a simple site with a tight brief, provided the design is reworked around your actual content. A custom Next.js site can still include an editor. We recommend WordPress or Next.js after learning how your team works and how much it needs to edit.
Local
What Queensland businesses need from a website
Banking and insurance are among Queensland’s sectors. If you offer financial services, clear service and people pages help visitors check what you do and who they will speak to; enquiry forms also need a named recipient and a useful confirmation message.
The state’s primary industries include fruit and vegetable production, grain crops and cattle raising. For construction or engineering firms working with those businesses, a project portfolio with photographs and project details gives prospective clients work to review.
In Brisbane, a clinic or other appointment-based practice needs service pages, practitioner profiles and opening hours. A booking or call option should work well on a phone.
Rules
What an Australian website project needs to handle
Australian guidance recommends conforming with WCAG 2.2 at a minimum of Level AA. Agree an accessibility target in your brief before page design starts. We set up desktop and mobile page designs around that target and refine them with your feedback. Include the target when reviewing the sitemap and page designs, so the agreed requirements are part of the work from the outset and your team can review them before approving the designs.
How it runs
How a website project runs with us
India time is 4h30m behind Brisbane. We use video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards to keep feedback and decisions moving across the gap.

- PrioritiesThe services or products to feature, ranked by importance to your business.

- PhotographsImages of your team, premises and finished work; arrange a photo shoot ahead if needed.

Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline of a website
The scope determines the design, build and checking work.
Page templates
Distinct layouts need more design and build work than pages that share a template.
Features
Booking, calculators, member logins, multiple languages and CRM connections add design, build and testing work.
Existing content
Moving blog posts, news archives and downloadable files adds migration and checking work.
Brand readiness
An existing logo and style guide reduce design work compared with a brand whose colours and typefaces are still being decided.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid when building a website
Choosing the platform first
Decide who will update the site and how often before selecting the editor or technology.
Letting someone else register your accounts
Hold the domain and hosting accounts in your business’s name and grant access to the people doing the work.
Reviewing only on a large screen
Check every page on a phone before approving the design.
Copying every old or competitor page
Select the pages visitors need and keep service information clear enough for your team to maintain.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Queensland
Page updated 5 November 2026
Is a website still worth investing in?
A website gives you a place to direct enquiries and measure what visitors do before contacting you. Set up analytics to track form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks as conversions, then check which pages those enquiries started from. That gives you something practical to review after launch.
How much should I pay someone to build a website?
There is no fixed price. The setup you choose, your editing needs and the readiness of your brand all affect the work. A separate content editor, for example, adds hosting and maintenance considerations. We send a free quote once the scope is agreed, so you can see what the project covers.
Will my team be able to update the website?
Yes. We can provide an editor for pages, news, projects and careers that your team can use without training. We build in Next.js or use WordPress when your team needs full editing control. Discuss the content you expect to change when agreeing the scope.
Is search setup included in the build?
Yes. We set up metadata, structured data and sitemaps as part of a search-ready build. Before launch, check that page titles are present and that an indexing block left over from development has been removed. Those checks help avoid preventable obstacles to a new site appearing in search.
Will I own the website after it is built?
Yes. You own the domain, the content and the code. Ask for these ownership details to be clear when you agree the project scope, so your team knows what it will hold after handover and can make decisions about the site later.
What happens after the website launches?
We provide ongoing support after launch. Your team should also decide who will update news, project and job posts. Assigning an owner for each type of content helps keep those pages current, so visitors do not encounter old posts and wonder whether your business is still trading.
