Choosing
Should you choose WordPress or a custom website?
WordPress suits a team that publishes often and wants to edit most of the site itself. Its choice of plugins gives you options for adding features, though someone needs to keep the installation updated for security. A custom Next.js build gives you more freedom over the design, fast pages and tight security. It also means involving a developer when you want to change the structure of the site.
There is also a headless setup: a custom front end paired with a separate content editor. That fits a site where speed and frequent editing both influence the brief. The trade-off is more moving parts to host and maintain, so ask who will look after each part before choosing it. Think about the work after launch as well as the design you want to approve.
We recommend WordPress or a custom Next.js site after learning how your team works. Bring the people who will maintain the site into that conversation, so the choice reflects their editing needs.
Local
What Connecticut organisations need from their websites
Financial, insurance and real estate firms are concentrated in Hartford and along Fairfield County’s Gold Coast. For a professional services firm, pages for individual services and partners give prospective clients a place to check expertise and credentials before making contact.
Manufacturing is represented by organisations including Pratt & Whitney and Sikorsky Aircraft. If you supply other businesses, your site needs capability or product pages, certifications and downloadable specifications, alongside a quote form that asks for enough detail to make a useful reply.
Yale University in New Haven and other institutions in and around the Knowledge Corridor also need visitors to find their way through their sites. A sitemap and page designs for desktop and mobile give that navigation a structure to review before development begins.
Rules
What a US website project has to handle
For a business open to the public, the ADA covers the goods and services it offers on the web. US guidance points to WCAG as helpful guidance without setting detailed web standards for those businesses. Agree an accessibility target in the brief. We set up the page designs and build against that target, using the latest WCAG version as a guide; its success criteria are organised into levels A, AA and AAA.
How it runs
How a website project runs with us
We work remotely from India using video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. IST is 10h30m ahead of Eastern time in winter and 1 hour less during daylight saving time. Shared boards keep decisions and feedback available across that difference.

Discover
Tell us who buys from you, why they choose you and what you want visitors to do. We learn about your business and audience, then agree the scope with you.
- 02
Design
We create the sitemap, wireframes and desktop and mobile page designs. You review them and give feedback before the designs are refined.
- 03
Build
We develop the site in clean code or with a content management system your team can edit. We test it on real devices and browsers.
- 04
Check
You proofread every page, submit each form once and confirm who receives the messages. This gives you a chance to catch errors before visitors see them.
- 05
Launch
We set up the domain, email, analytics and Search Console, then walk your team through the handover.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Bring these details to make the scope discussion more useful.
- A ranked list of services or products to feature, so the home page and navigation reflect your priorities.
- Your goal for the site and the person who handles each type of enquiry.
- Sites you like and dislike, with a short reason for each choice.
- Account logins, or the name of the person who holds them, for your domain, hosting, email and search tools.
- Real photos of your team, premises and finished work.
- A folder of case studies, permitted client logos, testimonials, certifications and memberships.
Cost & time
What affects website cost and timing
The scope determines the design, build and testing work involved.
Page templates
Distinct layouts take more design and development work than pages sharing a template.
Features
Booking, calculators, member logins, multiple languages and CRM connections add build and testing work.
Content
Copy and photos ready to publish keep the scope smaller; adding copywriting, photography or translation makes it bigger.
Brand readiness
An existing logo and style guide reduce design effort compared with deciding colours and typefaces during the project.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid when building your website
Designing with placeholder copy
Use real headings and paragraphs during design, since their length affects the layout.
Picking a platform too early
Decide who will update the site and how often before settling on the technology.
Reviewing only on a large screen
Check every page on a phone before approving the design.
Leaving search setup until launch
Check page titles, the sitemap and any indexing block used during development before the site goes live.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Connecticut
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to have a website built?
There is no fixed price. The work depends on the page structure, whether the design needs to be custom or an adapted template, and how much content needs to be gathered. Decide early who will write service descriptions and supply photos. We send a free quote once the scope is agreed.
Is a professionally developed website still worth it?
It can be worth it when you need a clear way for visitors to enquire and find your services. We route contact and quote forms to the right inbox and add WhatsApp and click-to-call. That gives visitors a direct next step and your team a defined place to receive enquiries.
What does the website service include?
We handle the build, an editor for your content and the search setup. The editor covers pages, news, projects and careers, and your team can use it without training. We also prepare metadata, structured data and sitemaps as part of the search-ready build.
Can you use our existing branding?
Yes. We build on your existing logo, colours and fonts, and prepare brand assets for the web where needed. Share the materials your team already uses when you discuss the scope, so the page designs can work with those choices from the start.
Will we own the website after launch?
Yes. You own the domain, content and code. Keep the domain and hosting accounts in your business’s name and grant access to the people working on the site; that way, you retain control of the accounts as well as the website itself.
What should we manage after the website launches?
Assign someone to update news, projects and job posts, and review the enquiries the site receives. In analytics, track form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks as conversions, then check which pages visitors started from. That gives your team useful information for deciding what to update.
