Choosing
Should you choose WordPress or a custom website?
WordPress suits a team that publishes regularly and wants to edit most of the site itself. It also offers a large choice of plugins. Before choosing it, decide who will keep the site updated: WordPress needs regular updates for security, alongside the work of publishing and reviewing content.
A custom-coded site in Next.js suits a business that wants fast pages, tight security and a design without template limits. It gives you more freedom over the design, while structural changes are work for a developer. Think about the changes you expect to make: updating the words on a page and changing the structure of the site are different jobs.
We recommend an approach after learning how your team works. Tell us who will publish content, what they need to change and which parts of the site are likely to stay settled. That gives us a practical basis for discussing the editing control you need and the development work you are comfortable handing over.
Local
What New Jersey businesses need from a website
New Jersey’s pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors include businesses that need to explain their capabilities and products to other organisations. For a manufacturer or supplier, we would plan space for certifications and downloadable specifications, along with a quote form that asks for enough detail to let your team respond.
An information technology startup in New Jersey launching a product or raising money needs a plain explanation of what the product does. A waitlist or demo-booking route gives visitors a clear next step and gives the team a way to receive interest.
In South Jersey, logistics and warehouse construction firms can use a project portfolio to show prospective clients their work. Photos and project details give visitors something concrete to assess when deciding whom to contact.
Rules
Accessibility for a US website
For a business open to the public, US Department of Justice guidance says the ADA covers goods and services offered on the web and points to WCAG as helpful guidance. Agree an accessibility target in the brief. We set up a clear heading structure and design pages for desktop and mobile, so those decisions are part of the build. WCAG has A, AA and AAA levels; the W3C encourages use of its latest version.
How it runs
How a website project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and a shared project board. India is 10h30m ahead of Eastern in winter and 1 hour less during daylight saving time. The shared board gives us a place to keep feedback and project decisions visible between conversations.
- 01
Discover
We learn about your business, audience and goals, then agree the scope with you. Bring the outcomes you want the site to support, so the work has a clear direction.
- 02
Plan
We prepare wireframes before visual design. Review what goes on each page and its order at this stage; leave feedback on colours until the visual design is ready.
- 03
Design
We create the sitemap and page designs for desktop and mobile, then refine them with your feedback. You can check that the proposed pages reflect what your visitors need to find.
- 04
Build
We develop the site in code or with a content management system your team can edit, and test it on real devices and browsers.
- 05
Launch
You proofread every page, submit each form and confirm who receives its messages. We set up the domain, email, analytics and Search Console, then walk your team through the site.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Gather what you have, and note who can supply the rest.
- Your goal for the site, such as quote requests, calls or job applications, and who handles each enquiry.
- Vector logo files, brand colours and fonts, or a note that these still need creating.
- Websites you like and dislike, with a short reason for each choice.
- Domain, hosting, email, analytics and Search Console logins, or the names of the people who hold them.
- Real photos of your team, premises and completed work; book a photo shoot ahead if needed.
- A folder of case studies, permitted client logos, testimonials, certifications and memberships.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline
The scope determines how much design, build and checking work is involved.
Features
Calculators, booking, member logins, multiple languages and CRM connections add design, development and testing work beyond a brochure site.
Content
Copy and photos ready to publish keep the work smaller; adding copywriting, photography or translation makes the scope bigger.
Migration
Blog posts, news archives and downloadable files from an old site need moving and checking.
Brand
An existing logo and style guide reduce design effort compared with deciding the logo, colours and typefaces as part of the work.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid
Designing around placeholder text
Use real headings and paragraphs during design. Their length can change a layout that appeared finished.
Copying every old page
Review what each page needs to do. A shorter site with clear service pages is easier to scan and maintain.
Reviewing only on a large screen
Check every page on a phone, where visitors also need to read and use it.
Leaving search setup until after launch
Check page titles, the sitemap and any development indexing block before the site goes live.

Questions
Asked by businesses in New Jersey
Page updated 5 November 2026
Is investing in web development still worth it?
A website gives you a place to receive and measure enquiries. We build pages with metadata, structured data, sitemaps and fast load times, and you can track form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks as conversions in analytics. Check which pages those enquiries started from to see how visitors use the site.
How much does it cost to have a website built?
There is no fixed price. The work is shaped by the design you need, whether brand assets need preparing, and whether you need a separate content editor with a custom front end. That setup has more hosting and maintenance parts. We send a free quote once the scope is agreed.
Can a custom website still have an editor?
Yes. A custom Next.js site can include an editor, while WordPress suits teams that make frequent content changes themselves. We recommend an option after understanding how your team works. Tell us what you expect to edit yourselves and what you would prefer a developer to change.
What does the website service include?
It includes an editor, enquiry forms and launch setup. Your team can edit pages, news, projects and careers; contact and quote forms go to the right inbox, with WhatsApp and click-to-call available. At handover, we set up analytics and Search Console and give your team a walkthrough.
Will I own the website?
Yes. You own the domain, content and code, with no lock-in. That applies to a site built in WordPress or with custom Next.js development. Keep those assets available to the people who will manage the site, so your team has what it needs after handover.
What happens after the site launches?
We offer ongoing support after launch. You should also decide who on your team will update news, projects and job posts. Give that person responsibility for keeping those sections current: an old newest post can leave visitors wondering whether the company is still trading.
