Choosing
Should you choose WordPress or a custom website?
WordPress suits a team that publishes often and wants to edit most of its site. Its range of plugins gives you choices, though someone will need to keep them updated for security. A custom Next.js site gives you a faster, more secure build and can still include an editor. We recommend an option after learning how your team works and who will look after the content.
A hosted builder such as Wix, Squarespace or Webflow suits a small site you want to run yourself. You give up some control over code and speed, and moving away later can mean rebuilding. A separate content editor paired with a custom front end suits heavier publishing needs, although it introduces more parts to host and maintain.
Design is a separate choice. An adapted template can fit a simple site with a tight brief when it is reworked around your real content. Custom design gives you more room to respond to a particular brand, audience or content structure.
Local
What Arlington organisations need from their websites
Arlington’s economy includes services for federal defence and civilian agencies. If you run a consulting or other professional services firm serving those organisations, give prospective clients a clear page for each service and partner, with the expertise and credentials they need to review before making contact.
Technology firms have offices in Arlington’s business districts. If you are launching a product there, use the site to explain what it does in plain language and offer a way to join a waitlist or book a demo. The county’s administrative offices and courthouse are in Court House; a supplier serving organisations around them needs capability pages, relevant certifications and downloadable specifications, as well as a quote form that collects enough detail for a useful reply.
Rules
Accessibility in a US website project
US Department of Justice guidance says the ADA covers the goods and services that businesses open to the public offer on the web, and points to WCAG as helpful guidance. We agree an accessibility target with you in the brief and set up a clear heading structure as part of the build. We also prepare page titles, descriptions and an XML sitemap, so the structure is planned before launch.
How it runs
How your website project runs with us
We work remotely through video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is 10h30m ahead of Eastern time in winter, and 1 hour less during daylight saving time. The shared board gives you a place to review work and leave feedback across that difference.
- 01
Discover
Tell us who buys from you, why they choose you and what you want visitors to do. We use that to shape the sitemap and agree the scope with you.
- 02
Plan
We prepare wireframes before visual design. Review the content and its order at this stage; colours come later.
- 03
Design and build
We refine desktop and mobile designs with your feedback before coding, then build the site and test it on real devices and browsers. Ongoing support follows launch.
- 04
Check
Proofread every page and submit each form once. Confirm who receives the messages before the site goes live.
- 05
Launch
We set up your domain, email, analytics and Search Console, then walk your team through the site.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
These details help us plan the site around your business and the people using it.
- Rank the services or products you want to feature.
- Choose a goal, such as quote requests, and name who handles those enquiries.
- Gather real photos of your team, premises and finished work.
- Put case studies, permitted client logos and testimonials in a folder.
- Find the account details for your domain, hosting, email and analytics, or identify who holds them.
- Bring examples of sites you like and dislike, with a reason for each choice.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline of a website?
The work grows with the design, content and features your brief calls for.
Page templates
Distinct layouts take more design and build work than pages sharing a template.
Features
Booking, member logins or a CRM connection add design, development and testing work.
Content
Copy and photos ready to publish keep the work smaller; writing, photography or translation add to the scope.
Brand assets
An existing logo and style guide reduce design effort compared with deciding colours and typefaces during the project.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Arlington
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to have a website built?
There is no fixed price. The scope of page designs, the development approach and the work needed to prepare your existing brand for the web all affect the quote. We send a free quote once the scope is agreed, so you can see what the proposed work covers.
How should I decide who will update the site?
Choose the person responsible before settling on a platform. Think about who will publish pages, news, projects and careers content, and how often they will need to make changes. We provide an editor your team can use without training, so those updates have an owner after launch.
What is included in the enquiry setup?
We set up contact and quote forms routed to the right inbox, along with WhatsApp and click-to-call options. Decide who should receive each request and what the visitor’s confirmation should say. Check the mobile contact options as part of the brief, so visitors have a clear way to reach you.
Will I own the website when it is finished?
Yes. You own your domain, content and code. Keep the domain and hosting accounts in your business’s name and grant access to the people working on the site. That way, you retain control of the accounts as well as the website itself.
Is a business website still worth building?
A website gives you a place to present your services and receive enquiries. Give it a clear purpose, then measure form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks in analytics and check which pages those enquiries started from. That gives you useful information for deciding what to update after launch.
