Choosing
Should you choose WordPress, a custom site or a hosted builder?
WordPress suits a team that publishes often and wants to edit most of the site itself. Its plugins give you a wide choice of features, but someone needs to keep it updated for security. A custom Next.js site is faster and more secure, and it can still include an editor. The choice starts with how your team works, not a preference for a particular platform.
A hosted builder such as Wix, Squarespace or Webflow suits a small site that an owner wants to run alone. You give up some control over code and speed, and moving away later can mean rebuilding the site. We recommend WordPress or Next.js after learning who will make edits and how often. Bring your publishing plans to that conversation: a site with frequent updates has different editing needs from one that changes only occasionally.

What Philadelphia organisations need from their websites
Philadelphia’s financial services and manufacturing sectors have different information to put in front of prospective customers. An accounting practice needs pages for its services and partners, where a visitor can check expertise and credentials before calling. A manufacturer needs product or capability pages, certifications and downloadable specifications, with a quote form that collects enough detail for the team to respond.
Philadelphia also has universities and colleges that need a clear way to organise pages and handle enquiries. For an organisation with news, project and careers content, an editor gives its team a way to update those pages. The sitemap, page structure and forms each need an owner from the start, so the right people can review them before launch.
Rules
What a US website project has to handle
For a business open to the public, US guidance says the ADA covers goods and services offered on the web and identifies WCAG as helpful guidance. Agree an accessibility target in the brief. We set up a clear heading structure as part of the build and use the agreed target to guide the page work. WCAG has levels A, AA and AAA; the W3C encourages use of its latest version.
How it runs
How a website project runs with us
We work remotely from India using video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is 10h30m ahead of Eastern time in winter and 1 hour less during daylight saving time. Shared boards keep feedback and decisions visible across that difference.

Discover
Tell us who buys from you, why they choose you and what you want visitors to do. We use those answers to shape the sitemap.
- 02
Plan pages
We prepare wireframes before visual design. You review the content and its order on each page, leaving colours for the next stage.
- 03
Build
We develop the site in clean code or a content management system your team can edit, then test it on real devices and browsers.
- 04
Check
You proofread each page, submit each form and confirm who receives the messages. This catches small errors before visitors see them.
- 05
Launch
We set up your domain, email, analytics and Search Console, then walk your team through the setup.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Gather these details so we can discuss the site around your actual content and goals.
- Your logo files, brand colours and fonts, or a note that they still need creating.
- Your services or products, ranked by importance to the business.
- Your main goal, such as quote requests or calls, and who handles each enquiry.
- Account logins for the domain, hosting, email and analytics, or the names of their holders.
- Case studies, testimonials and client logos you have permission to show.
- Real photos of your team, premises and finished work.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline?
The scope determines the design, build and testing work involved.
Page templates
Distinct layouts take more design and build effort than pages that share a template.
Features
Booking, calculators, member logins, extra languages and CRM connections add work to design, build and test.
Content
Copy and photos ready to publish keep the scope smaller; copywriting, photography or translation add to it.
Brand
An existing logo and style guide reduce design effort compared with deciding the logo, colours and typefaces during the project.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid
Using placeholder copy
Review layouts with real headings and paragraphs, which can be longer or shorter than the stand-in text.
Reviewing only on desktop
Check every page on a phone before you approve the design.
Putting accounts in someone else’s name
Hold the domain and hosting accounts in your business’s name and grant access to the people doing the work.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Philadelphia
Page updated 5 November 2026
Is website development still worth investing in?
It is worth considering when your site has a clear job, such as generating enquiries. Track form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks in analytics, and check which pages they started from. Keep service pages clear and manageable so visitors can scan them and your team can keep them current.
How much does it cost to have a website built?
There is no fixed price. The work depends on whether you need a custom design or an adapted template, and whether a separate content editor and custom front end are needed. The latter also adds hosting and maintenance work. We send a free quote once the scope is agreed.
Can you use our existing brand?
Yes. We build on your existing logo, colours and fonts, and prepare brand assets for the web where needed. We also design the sitemap, wireframes and page layouts for desktop and mobile, then refine those designs with your feedback before development begins.
What is included in the search and launch setup?
We set up metadata, structured data and sitemaps as part of a search-ready build. At handover, we set up the domain, email, analytics and Search Console and give your team a walkthrough. The walkthrough gives you a chance to see the setup with us before taking it forward.
Will I own the website?
Yes. You own the domain, content and code, with no lock-in. That applies to the website we build for you. We use Next.js for custom development or WordPress when your team needs full editing control, so discuss your editing needs with us before choosing the build.
What support is available after launch?
We provide ongoing support after launch. You should also decide who on your team will update news, projects and job posts. That gives those pages an owner after handover, so updates do not get overlooked while your team is handling enquiries and other work.
