Choosing
Should you choose WordPress, a custom site or a website builder?
WordPress suits a team that publishes often and wants to edit most of the site itself. Its plugins offer a wide choice of features, although the site needs regular updates to stay secure. If you expect to add news or change service pages frequently, decide who will own those updates before settling on the platform.
A custom Next.js site offers faster pages and greater security, and it can still include a content editor. WordPress gives your team more direct editing control. The choice turns on how you expect the site to change after launch, as well as how much of that work you want to handle yourselves.
A hosted builder such as Wix, Squarespace or Webflow suits a small site that you want to run alone. You get less control over code and speed, though, and moving away later can involve rebuilding the site. We recommend WordPress or Next.js after learning how your team works and what it needs to update.
Local
What Alexandria organisations need from a website
Alexandria has management consulting, business, finance and legal services. If you run a professional practice, give each service and partner a clear page so prospective clients can check expertise and credentials before they call.
The city also hosts trade associations representing professional and industry groups. An association handling enquiries needs to decide where each form sends its message, who receives it and what the confirmation says. We can reflect those decisions in the form design.
Tourism is another major sector in Alexandria. A visitor-facing organisation needs contact options that work on a phone and a practical way to keep its news current. We set up click-to-call and WhatsApp, and provide an editor your team can use for news and other pages.
Rules
What a US website project needs to handle
For businesses open to the public, US Department of Justice guidance says the ADA covers goods and services offered on the web and identifies WCAG as helpful guidance. We agree an accessibility target in your brief, using the latest WCAG version as a reference, then design desktop and mobile pages with your feedback. Review each page on a phone as well as a large screen, so the mobile layout is part of the approval process.
How it runs
How a website project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. IST is 10h30m ahead of Eastern time in winter and 1 hour less during daylight saving time. Shared boards give you a place to review progress and leave feedback across that difference.
- 01
Discover
Tell us who buys from you, why they choose you and what visitors should do on the site. We learn about your audience and goals, then agree the scope with you.
- 02
Plan the pages
We prepare wireframes before the visual design. Your feedback at this stage should focus on what each page needs to say and the order visitors see it in.
- 03
Build and test
We develop the agreed site in clean code or an editable CMS, then test it on real devices and browsers. Your team can review how the pages work in use.
- 04
Launch and care
We set up your domain, email, analytics and Search Console, then walk your team through the site. Ongoing support follows launch.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
A website has several parts, from page structure to launch, so identify who will own each part.
- A goal such as quote requests or calls, and the person who handles each enquiry.
- Your services or products, ranked by business priority.
- Vector logo files, colours and fonts, or a note that they still need creating.
- Real photos of your team, premises and finished work.
- A folder of case studies, permitted client logos, testimonials and certifications.
- Sites you like and dislike, with a short reason for each choice.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and time involved?
Decide who will update the site and how often before choosing its platform.
Content readiness
Copy and photos ready to publish keep the work smaller; adding copywriting, photography or translation expands the scope.
Migration
Moving blog posts, news archives and downloadable files from an old site adds transfer and checking work.
Separate editing setup
A custom front end paired with a separate editor adds moving parts to host and maintain.
Structural changes
A custom-coded site suits a business happy to have a developer handle changes to its structure.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Alexandria
Page updated 5 November 2026
Is web development still worth it?
It is worth assessing against what you need the site to do. Track form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks as conversions, and check which pages they started from. Also name someone to update news, projects and job posts, so visitors see current information when they arrive.
How much does it cost to have a website built?
There is no fixed price. The number of distinct page templates is a major driver: pages sharing a template take less design and build work than pages with different layouts. Brand readiness also affects effort, as an existing logo and style guide give the design work a starting point. Agree the scope before requesting a quote.
What search setup is included in the build?
We include page titles and descriptions, heading structure, an XML sitemap, structured data and fast pages. These are easier to address during the build than as fixes later. Before launch, check that an indexing block used during development has been removed, so it does not keep the site out of search results.
Will we own the website?
Yes. You own the domain, content and code. Keep the domain and hosting accounts in your business’s name, then grant access to the people working on the site. That gives you control of the accounts without having to ask an agency or freelancer to return them.
Can you build the site around our existing brand?
Yes. We can work with your existing logo, colours and fonts, and prepare brand assets for the web where needed. Bring the materials you already use and tell us which elements need preparing for the site, so the design can build on the brand you have.
