Choosing
Should you customise a theme or build a custom storefront?
An existing theme is a practical starting point when its layouts suit your catalogue. We can customise it for your brand while keeping the initial setup lighter and later theme updates simpler. A custom theme gives you more room for unusual products and a distinct design, although later layout changes need development work. Think about how often your staff will want to change page layouts without a developer.
A headless storefront built with Hydrogen or Next.js suits a content-led brand or an unusual buying flow. It gives up Shopify’s theme editor, though, and apps that add features through a theme may not work. That trade-off is worth discussing before choosing the design route, especially if your team expects to edit the storefront itself.
Payment choice also affects the store’s running costs. A third-party gateway carries an extra Shopify transaction fee, even with Shopify Payments active. We help you weigh the choices, and you speak directly to the people designing and building the store.
Local
What Dallas organisations need from a Shopify store
Dallas has businesses in fields including information technology, telecommunications and transportation. A direct-to-consumer brand among them may need subscriptions and reviews connected to its store data; a retailer with a physical shop may want online and in-store stock managed through Shopify’s point-of-sale app. We discuss the selling model first, then connect the store features it needs.
Dallas also has colleges and universities. An organisation at one that sells products online may need clear product specifications and collections that staff can maintain. Metafields give dimensions or care instructions their own place on a product page, while automated collections use consistent fields such as product type or vendor to keep their contents current.
Rules
What a United States store has to handle
State sales tax varies across the United States: 45 states and the District of Columbia levy a statewide sales tax, while Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire and Oregon have no statewide sales tax. Tell us which markets your store will sell into. We configure the store’s tax settings for those markets alongside its products, shipping and payment settings, so the setup reflects the markets you intend to serve.
How it runs
How a Shopify project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. IST is 10h30m (Eastern) to 13h30m (Pacific) ahead of the mainland US in winter, and 1 hour less during daylight saving time everywhere except Arizona, which keeps 12h30m. The shared board gives you a place to leave feedback and see the work as it moves forward across that difference.

Tell us about your business, customers and goals. We agree the store scope with you before design begins.
- 02

We prepare desktop and mobile page designs. You review them and give feedback before we write theme code.
- 03

- 05
Handover
We teach your staff to manage orders, products and discounts, so they can run those tasks themselves.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Bring the material you have, so we can discuss the work in detail.
- A Shopify account and plan in your business’s own name and billing.
- Consistent product photos for each colour or style, plus size charts and specifications.
- Business and bank details, and your shipping, returns, privacy and terms policies. Review generated templates before use.
- A list of current and planned apps, and what each tool needs to do.
- For a migration, exports of products, customers and orders, plus the URLs bringing the most traffic and sales.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline
The scope determines the work involved, including design, setup and testing.
Theme route
Adjusting an existing theme takes less work than designing and building a custom theme.
Product choices
A fourth choice, such as engraving text, needs theme properties or an app.
Business logic
Custom rules add development and testing; custom apps containing Shopify Function APIs need Shopify Plus.
Migration
Moving products, customers and orders also involves putting redirects in place.
Markets
Local-currency prices, translated content and market-specific shipping add setup across the store.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid with Shopify development
Inconsistent product data
Agree on tags, product types and vendors before building automated collections and filters. Loose data can put products in the wrong place or hide them.
Editing the live theme
Duplicate it first, make changes on the copy and preview them before publishing.
Adding an app for every small task
Review subscriptions and scripts, and check theme files when removing an app.
Leaving demo content in place
Check policies and customer notifications as well as page copy before launch.
Questions
Asked by businesses in Dallas
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to hire a Shopify developer?
There is no fixed price. The catalogue is a major driver: bundles, made-to-order choices and specification fields add setup and theme work. Integrations with systems such as accounting or warehouse tools add work too, particularly when stock and prices need to sync in both directions.
Can I hire someone to build me a Shopify store?
Yes. We build Shopify stores and connect and test tools for reviews, subscriptions, ERP, accounting and WhatsApp. This also suits a first-time online seller who wants staff to run the shop without managing hosting, security or software updates. Tell us which tools your business already uses.
Should I use an app or custom code for a feature?
An app adds a feature quickly; custom code or a custom app fits a more exact requirement. Apps can bring recurring fees, extra scripts and dependence on their maker. Custom work needs maintenance as Shopify changes, so consider who will look after the feature after launch.
How much can the checkout be customised?
Shopify runs the checkout, and the available changes depend on the plan. Standard checkout customisation works from the Basic plan up. Apps that change the information, shipping and payment steps are limited to Shopify Plus, so discuss any required checkout changes before choosing the plan.
Will I own the store and its content?
You own your domain, content and code, with no lock-in to the team that built the store. After handover, review staff accounts and collaborator access from time to time and remove access that is no longer used. Shopify also expires collaborator access that goes unused.
What support is available after launch?
Ongoing support follows launch from the people who designed and built your store. You can also review Shopify reports for conversion rate, cart abandonment, average order value and returning customers. Search Console gives you a view of organic clicks and product-page indexing.
