Choosing
Which Shopify setup should you choose?
Start with the way you sell. Standard checkout customisation is available from the Basic plan, but apps that change the information, shipping and payment steps are limited to Shopify Plus. Decide which changes you need before selecting a plan, particularly if your ordering process relies on a particular checkout step. For payments, compare the total cost per order across gateways: a third-party gateway carries an extra Shopify transaction fee, even when Shopify Payments is active.
A theme-based store gives your team the theme editor. A headless storefront built with Hydrogen or Next.js suits a content-led brand or an unusual buying flow, but gives up that editor; apps that add features through the theme might not work there. For international sales, one store can use markets for local-currency pricing, translations and international domains. Separate stores suit different catalogues or teams in each country, or a need for payouts in different currencies.
Local
What Atlanta businesses need from their stores
Atlanta has businesses in media, film and television, alongside IT and logistics organisations. A direct-to-consumer brand in that mix might need a custom theme built for mobile speed, with subscriptions, reviews and email flows connected to its store data. A retailer with a physical shop has a different stock question: Shopify's point-of-sale app can bring online and in-store stock into one system.
Atlanta is also home to the global headquarters of The Coca-Cola Company, The Home Depot and Delta Air Lines. For a brand selling from the city into several countries, the store setup can bring local-currency prices, translated content and market-specific shipping into one admin. The right scope starts with where you sell and who will manage each catalogue.
Rules
What a United States store needs to handle
Sales tax varies across the United States: some states have no statewide sales tax. We configure the store's tax settings for the markets you sell into, so the destinations and tax setup need to be part of the scope.
Commercial emails need a valid physical postal address and a clear way to opt out, and opt-out requests must be honoured. We set up email as part of launch and account for those details in the messages you plan to send.
How it runs
How a Shopify project runs with us
We work remotely through video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is 10h30m ahead of Eastern time in winter; the difference is 1 hour less during daylight saving time. The shared board gives you a place to leave feedback across that difference.
- 01
Discover
Tell us about your business, customers and goals. We agree the store scope with you before moving into design.
- 02
Design
We prepare desktop and mobile page designs. You review them and give feedback before theme code is written.
- 03
Access
The store stays in your account. You approve our collaborator access, choose its permissions and can remove it.
- 04
Build
We work on an unpublished theme copy. You preview and approve it before publication, while your live store keeps trading.
- 05
Launch
We connect the domain, remove the store password, switch payments to live and import redirects. A real test order is placed and then refunded.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Gather what you have so we can agree a useful scope.
- A Shopify account and plan in your business's name and billing.
- A product sheet with titles, prices, SKUs, barcodes, weights, options and stock by location. Weights feed calculated shipping rates.
- Consistent product photos for each colour or style, plus size charts, care instructions and specifications.
- A list of current or planned tools, such as reviews, subscriptions, accounting and couriers, with what each needs to do.
- For a migration, exports of products, customers and orders, plus the URLs bringing the most traffic and sales.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline of Shopify development
The work changes with the choices and requirements in your scope.
Theme route
Adjusting an existing theme involves less work than designing and building one around your brand.
Catalogue structure
Extra product choices, metafield-driven specifications, bundles and made-to-order items add setup and theme work.
Business logic
Custom rules need development and testing. Public apps with Functions work on any plan; custom apps containing Shopify Function APIs need Shopify Plus.
Apps and custom code
Apps bring recurring fees, scripts and reliance on their makers. Custom code or an app fits a specific need but needs maintenance as Shopify changes.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid with Shopify development
Loose product data
Agree how staff use tags, product types and vendors. Automated collections and filters read these fields, so inconsistent entries can hide products or put them in the wrong place.
Too many apps
Check what each subscription adds. When removing one, inspect the theme files for code it left behind.
Unfinished launch content
Replace demo content, placeholder policies and default notification wording before opening the store.
Changes on the live theme
Duplicate it, make changes on the copy and preview them before publishing.
Questions
Asked by businesses in Atlanta
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to hire a Shopify developer?
There is no fixed price. Migration depth, extra product choices and custom business rules all change the scope. Moving order history and gift cards involves different work from moving products alone; engraving text needs a theme property or app, while Functions can change discount, delivery or checkout logic.
Can I hire someone to build a Shopify store my staff can run?
Yes. We build the store and train your team to handle orders, products and discounts. Shopify also suits first-time online sellers who want their staff to run the store without managing hosting, security or software updates. Bring the tasks your staff expect to handle so those can inform the handover.
Should I use manual or automated collections?
Choose based on how you want to maintain the catalogue. With a manual collection, staff select each product. An automated collection uses conditions such as tag, product type, vendor or price and stays current as matching products change. It depends on those product fields being consistent.
Who owns the store after it is built?
You own your domain, content and code. That means you are not locked to the team that built the store and can decide who works on it after handover. Keep the domain and store arrangements under your business's control alongside the content your staff maintain.
Can you help after the store launches?
Yes. Ongoing support follows launch from the same people who designed and built the store. As part of running it, review installed apps, staff accounts and collaborator access from time to time, and remove access or tools you no longer use. Shopify also expires collaborator access that goes unused.
How can I check what the store is doing after launch?
Use Shopify's reports and Search Console to look at different parts of the store's performance. Shopify reports include conversion rate, cart abandonment, average order value and returning customers. Search Console shows organic clicks and product-page indexing. The build also includes clean product URLs, structured data and fast pages from launch.
