Choosing

Should you build a cross-platform app or go native?

For an app built around accounts, forms, bookings, payments or content, a cross-platform framework lets you share most of the code between iOS and Android. We usually use React Native, adding native modules where a feature needs them. It renders each platform’s own interface components, and web developers can contribute to its JavaScript or TypeScript code.

Flutter is another cross-platform option. It uses Dart and draws its own interface, which suits a heavily branded design that should look the same on both platforms. Native development uses Swift for iPhone and Kotlin for Android. It fits deep device features, heavy graphics or complex background work, but leaves you with separate codebases to build and maintain.

A progressive web app is worth considering for a staff tool when store distribution is less useful. It skips store review, although it needs packaging to appear in the stores. On iPhone, it can ask to send notifications only after someone adds it to their Home Screen.

Local

What Assam’s businesses need from an app

Agriculture is part of Assam’s economy, and the state produces more than half of India’s tea. For a tea business with staff recording work in the field, an app brief could include forms, photos, signatures and a location for each job. Records need to reach the office when a connection returns, so the team can work with the information collected outside.

Wildlife tourism is also a major contributor to Assam’s economy. A restaurant serving visitors and repeat customers might need a straightforward way to reorder, save payment details or use a loyalty feature. Well-timed push notifications give the business a way to contact customers who have chosen to use the app.

Rules

What an app project in India has to handle

If your app takes payments, decide which transactions belong in its checkout and which are in-app purchases or subscriptions. We set up the payment flow, including UPI where it suits the transaction. For a checkout using a non-bank payment aggregator, the provider must be authorised; we set up the connection with an authorised provider such as Razorpay or Cashfree Payments. Keep the provider’s admin access with your business so you can manage the account.

How it runs

How an app project runs with us

We are a studio in India and work remotely with clients in other cities and countries. We use video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards to discuss the work and keep track of decisions.

  1. 01

    Discover

We learn about your business, audience and goals, then agree the scope with you. Bring the main task people need to complete in the app and tell us who will use it.

  2. 02

    Design

We design screens for iOS and Android and refine them with your feedback before writing code. Review the flow with the people who understand your customers and day-to-day work.

  3. 03

    Test

During development, we share test builds for your own phone through TestFlight or Google Play testing tracks. Try the main tasks in real use and tell us where a screen or step is difficult.

  4. 04

    Submit

We handle the store listings, submission and review under your developer accounts. You provide access to those accounts and review the information that represents your business in each listing.

Checklist

What to have ready before we talk

Bring a short list of what users must do in the first release, ordered as they would do it.

  • SystemsList your website, booking software, CRM or payment provider, and note who holds admin access and whether each has an API.
  • Privacy policyPrepare a policy that matches the data the app will collect; it needs links in the app and its Apple listing.
  • TestersIf you have a new personal Google Play developer account, identify people for the required closed test before production.
  • Demo accessFor an app with a login, prepare a working demo account and live backend for Apple’s submission review.
  • MeasurementDecide which screens and tasks you want to understand, alongside crash reporting for the first release.

Cost & time

What affects the cost and timeline of app development

The work grows with the behaviour, connections and screens the app needs.

  • Live features

Tracking, chat and presence need persistent connections and more backend work than screens that load data on request.

  • Integrations

Payment gateways, maps, booking systems and hardware each need setup, testing and failure handling.

  • Screen design

Custom animation, extra languages and tablet layouts add design and testing across the app.

  • User content

Posts or other user-generated material need moderation. Apple requires filtering, reporting, blocking and published contact details.

Avoid

Mistakes to avoid with app development

  • Wrapping a website

A site placed inside an app shell risks rejection. Plan useful app features beyond the existing website before submission.

  • Requiring sign-up too early

Let people see value before asking them to create an account. Apple expects apps without significant account-based features to allow use without login.

  • Adding an SDK without updating privacy details

Review the data collected by analytics or advertising tools and include it in Google Play’s Data safety answers.

Questions

Asked by businesses in Assam

Page updated 5 November 2026

How much does it cost to develop an app?

There is no fixed price. The work depends in part on how many types of user need their own screens and permissions, and how much the app must do offline. Saving the last loaded data is a smaller task than editing records offline and resolving conflicts when they sync. Once we agree the scope, you can request a quote.

How do I choose an app development company?

Choose a team that can explain how it will test your main user task and measure use after release. Ask to put a clickable prototype in front of customers or staff before development. Also ask how you will see where people drop out and how often they return.

Can the app use the same accounts as my website?

Yes. We build a shared backend for your app, website and admin tools, keeping customer accounts and data in one place. This is useful when customers already use your web platform frequently and you want the app to work with the information they already have there.

Will you publish the app to both stores?

Yes. We handle listings, submission and release for the App Store and Google Play. If your app lets people create accounts, we also need to build an in-app route to start account deletion. Google Play additionally requires a web link where people can request deletion of their account and associated data.

Who owns the app and its accounts?

You own your domain, content and code, with no lock-in. Keep the developer accounts, signing access and code repository in your business’s name too. Accounts held in an agency’s or freelancer’s name make the app harder to move if you change who maintains it.

What support does an app need after launch?

Plan for bug fixes, updates for new iOS and Android versions, and further features. Google Play also requires apps and updates to target a recent Android API level. Some JavaScript and content fixes can go out over the air, while native code changes and new permissions still need a store release.
