What it does

This shipping policy generator writes the delivery page for an online shop. You set where you ship from, how long orders take to process, your same-day cut-off and the delivery options, each with its delivery time and cost. You can add international delivery with a choice of who pays import duties, order tracking, cash on delivery and PO box delivery. The policy also covers address changes and lost, late or damaged parcels. You get Markdown and HTML to copy or download, and nothing you type leaves your browser.

How to use it

  1. Enter the store name, a contact email and where you ship from.
  2. Set the processing time, the same-day cut-off and how long customers have to report damage.
  3. List your delivery options, one per line, as name, delivery time and cost separated by a vertical bar.
  4. Tick the options that apply, and for international delivery list the countries and choose who pays duties.
  5. Replace every placeholder in square brackets before you publish.

How to read the result

This is a starting template, not legal advice. Laws differ by country and change; have a lawyer review the text before you publish it.

The default example is a shop in Mumbai with 2 business days of processing, a 2 pm cut-off, standard and express delivery, international shipping to four countries with duties paid by the customer, tracking and cash on delivery. The policy has 9 sections and 15 placeholders. Most of them are numbers only you know: your free-delivery threshold, express price, international delivery time and the cash on delivery fee.

Each delivery line becomes one bullet, so "Express | 1 to 2 business days | [amount]" reads "Express: 1 to 2 business days. [amount]." If you leave the cost out, the line shows "[cost]" so nothing is published half-written.

Switch duties to "Included in the price" and the international section changes to say customers pay nothing more on delivery. Only choose that if your checkout really collects the duties.

We set up delivery rules, courier tracking and checkout messages as part of e-commerce development. If you take orders on WhatsApp too, the WhatsApp link generator builds a click-to-chat link with a pre-filled message.

Questions

Frequently asked.

What should a shipping policy include?

At minimum: how long orders take to be dispatched, the delivery options with times and costs, where you deliver, who pays import duties on international orders, how tracking works, and what to do if a parcel is late, lost or damaged. Customers check this page before they buy, so put the cost and time information near the top.

Should delivery times be in business days or calendar days?

Business days are usual, because couriers do not deliver on every day of the week. Say which days count, especially if your weekend is Friday and Saturday or Saturday and Sunday. Keep processing time and courier time separate, so customers can see how long you take to pack and how long the courier takes.

Who pays import duties on international orders?

Either the customer pays on arrival, or you charge them at checkout and pay the duties yourself. The second option costs more to set up but avoids refused parcels and surprise charges. Whichever you choose, state it plainly; unexpected fees on delivery often lead to refused parcels.
