What it does

A NAP consistency checker compares the name, address and phone number on each of your online listings with one reference version, and tells you which ones differ and how. It separates harmless formatting differences from real problems. "Rd" versus "Road", "UAE" versus "United Arab Emirates", a legal suffix such as LLC, or a local phone format such as 04 000 0000 are marked "Format only". A missing word in the name, a missing part of the address or a different phone number are marked "Partial" or "Mismatch", with the exact words that are missing or extra. The comparison runs in your browser.

How to use it

  1. Enter your reference name, address and phone number, exactly as on your Google Business Profile.
  2. Set your country calling code so local numbers can be read, for example 971 for the UAE or 91 for India.
  3. For each listing, add one line: source, name, address and phone, separated by vertical bars.
  4. Read the table, then copy the "What to fix" list into your task list.
  5. Update each listing, paste the new details and check again.

How to read the result

The sample compares four listings for a Dubai clinic. The stats show 4 listings, 2 consistent and 2 to fix.

The Google Business Profile line matches exactly, so all three cells read "Exact". The Facebook line is consistent but untidy: the name adds "LLC", the address says "UAE" instead of "United Arab Emirates", and the phone is written as 04 000 0000. All three are "Format only". The checker reads 04 000 0000 with the 971 calling code and finds it is the same number. Fixing these is good housekeeping, not urgent.

The Yellow Pages line needs attention. Its name is just "Example Dental", missing "clinic", and its address leaves out the country, so both cells are "Partial". The old website footer is the real problem: the address is a previous office in JLT and the phone number is different, so both read "Mismatch". Customers using that page would call the wrong number.

The "What to fix" box lists every listing that is not an exact match, field by field, with the words to add or remove.

Questions

Frequently asked.

What does NAP stand for?

Name, address and phone number: the three details that identify a local business. They appear on your Google Business Profile, your website, social profiles and every directory listing. When they match, customers and search engines can be confident they have the right business; when they differ, people may call an old number or go to an old address.

Do small differences like St and Street matter?

Much less than a wrong number or an old address. Search engines are good at reading abbreviations, which is why the checker marks them as format-only. It is still worth using one agreed version everywhere, because it makes future changes easier and leaves no doubt about which version is correct.

How do I get the details from each listing?

Open each listing as a customer would see it, logged out, and copy the name, address and phone exactly, without retyping. Paste them on one line separated by vertical bars. Retyping hides the very errors you are looking for, such as a missing unit number or a transposed digit.
