This checklist lists the business directories, map apps and review sites where a local business can create or claim a listing, for 15 countries: India, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Singapore, New Zealand, Ireland, the Netherlands and Malaysia. Each list starts with the global platforms that work almost everywhere, such as Google Business Profile, Bing Places and Apple Business, then adds the general directories for that country. Choose your type of business to add specialist sites, such as food delivery apps for restaurants or trade directories for builders. Every entry links to its sign-up or claim page, and you can tick them off as you go.
How to use it
- Choose your country.
- Choose your type of business, or leave it on "Show everything".
- Write your business name, address and phone number once, exactly as they appear on your Google Business Profile.
- Work down the list, adding or claiming each listing with that same text.
- Tick each one when it is live, and download the CSV to keep a record of where you are listed.
How to read the result
With the defaults, India and "Show everything", the list has 19 directories: 8 global and 11 for India. The Done stat starts at 0 / 19 and counts up as you tick. The global entries are marked "Global"; the Indian ones carry a type badge such as General, B2B, Food or Health. Switch the business type to "Professional or local services" and the list drops to 12, because the B2B marketplaces, food apps, health directory and Tripadvisor no longer apply.
Some countries have a note under the stats. Yelp, for example, does not serve India, the UAE, Saudi Arabia or Malaysia, so it only appears in the other eleven lists. For Saudi Arabia and New Zealand we could verify only a few local directories, so the global platforms do most of the work there.
The notes under each name tell you what to expect: whether the basic listing is free, whether the site is limited to one trade, and whether leads or upgrades are paid. Paid upgrades are optional; a free listing with accurate details is enough for a citation.
Ticks last only while the page is open. Copy the Markdown checklist into your project notes or download the CSV, which includes a Done column.

Questions
Frequently asked.
What is a local citation?
Any online mention of your business name, address and phone number, usually on a directory, map app or review site. Search engines compare these mentions with your Google Business Profile and website. When they agree, it is easier to trust that the details are right; when they conflict, customers may find an old address or number.
How were the directories chosen?
Each site was checked in November 2026 to confirm it is still running and has a working page for adding or claiming a business. Directories that had shut down, redirected to another brand or could not be reached were left out. The list is not a ranking: it does not say which site matters most for your business.
Do I need to list on all of them?
No. Start with Google Business Profile, Bing Places and Apple Business, then the general directories for your country, then any specialist sites for your trade. A handful of accurate, complete listings is worth more than dozens of half-finished ones you cannot keep up to date.
