Finding your Place ID

  1. Open the Place ID page in Google's Maps docs.
  2. Type your business name in the map's search box and pick it from the list.
  3. Copy the Place ID shown on the map and paste it above.

You can also get a short review link from your Business Profile: Read reviews, then Get more reviews.

Google does not allow offering anything in return for a review. Ask every customer, and ask for an honest one.

What it does

A Google review link takes a customer straight to the box where they write a review of your business, instead of asking them to search for you on Maps and find the button. This generator builds that link from your Place ID in the form https://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=, the format widely used for direct review links. It also gives you a Maps link to check you have the right business, a short message you can send by email, SMS or WhatsApp, an HTML link for your website and a QR code you can print. Everything is built in your browser.

How to use it

  1. Find your Place ID with Google's Place ID Finder, as described in the panel under the form.
  2. Paste it into the Place ID box. A URL that contains placeid= also works.
  3. Enter your business name and adjust the message if you like.
  4. Click "Check the listing on Maps" to confirm the ID belongs to your business.
  5. Copy the link or the message, and download the QR code for receipts and counters.

How to read the result

The tool opens with the sample Place ID from Google's documentation, ChIJN1t_tDeuEmsRUsoyG83frY4, so you can see the output straight away. The Link stat reads "Ready" and the review link is 79 characters long. An amber "Check" line reminds you that this is the sample ID; replace it with your own before sharing anything.

A red "Fix" line means the link cannot be built. The most common cause is pasting a Maps share link such as maps.app.goo.gl, which does not contain the Place ID. Look the business up in the Place ID Finder instead.

When a customer opens the link, Google asks them to sign in if they are not already, then shows the star rating and review box for your business. Test the link and the QR code on your own phone before printing anything.

The message uses {business} and {link} as placeholders, so you can rewrite it in your own words or translate it, and the details are filled in for you.

To send the message as a pre-filled WhatsApp chat, use the WhatsApp link generator. For a styled QR code, use the QR code generator. Reviews are one part of local search; our technical SEO service covers the rest, from Business Profile set-up to location pages.

Questions

Frequently asked.

How do I find my Google Place ID?

Open the Place ID page in Google's Maps Platform documentation, type your business name into the map's search box and choose it from the suggestions. The Place ID appears in the box on the map; it usually starts with ChIJ. Google notes that IDs can change over time, so check yours again if an old link stops working.

Is this the same link Google gives me?

It opens the same review form. Google's own route is in your Business Profile: Read reviews, then Get more reviews, which gives you a short link and a QR code. This tool builds the longer search.google.com/local/writereview link from your Place ID, which is handy when you manage several profiles or do not have access to the profile itself.

Can I offer a discount in exchange for a review?

No. Google's Business Profile help says offering incentives such as free or discounted goods in exchange for reviews is prohibited and treated as fake engagement. Reviews must reflect a genuine experience. Ask every customer, make it easy with a link or QR code, and leave the rating up to them.
