A QR code generator encodes a link, a block of text, Wi-Fi credentials or a contact card into a scannable image. Everything is generated in the browser, so the data never goes to a server and there is no account or expiry. You can set the size, the error correction level and the colours, see the code update as you type, and download a PNG for screens or an SVG for print. The encoded data is shown as text so you can check exactly what a phone will read.
How to use it
- Choose what to encode: a website link, plain text, a Wi-Fi network or a contact card.
- Fill in the fields. For a link, keep it short; shorter data makes a simpler, more forgiving code.
- Pick the error correction level and, if you need brand colours, a dark foreground on a light background.
- Download the SVG for print or the PNG for screens, and test it with a phone before it goes to the printer.
How to read the result
The status badge says "Scannable" when the data fits in a QR code at the chosen level. The character count underneath is what matters for density. At level M, a 20-character URL fits in a 25 by 25 module code; a 300-character vCard needs 69 by 69 modules and has to be printed larger or scanned from closer.
The print size figure is a rough minimum at arm's length. A code with 40 characters shows about 2.5 cm; the 160-character sample contact card about 5.5 cm. Scale up for posters, where people scan from further away: as a rule the code should be at least a tenth of the scanning distance.
The encoded data block shows the raw string. For Wi-Fi it reads WIFI:T:WPA;S:Office Wi-Fi;P:secret;; and for a contact it is a VCARD block. If a phone shows something unexpected after scanning, this is where to look.
Add UTM tags to a printed link so scans show up separately in analytics. Print and web assets that match are part of the brand work in our website design and development service.
Questions
Frequently asked.
Should I download PNG or SVG?
SVG for anything printed. It scales to a billboard without blurring and printers prefer it. PNG for screens, emails and documents that cannot take vector files. The PNG size slider sets the pixel width; 320px is plenty for a slide, 1024px for a high-resolution document.
What does error correction level mean?
It is how much of the code can be damaged or covered and still scan. L tolerates 7%, M 15%, Q 25% and H 30%. Higher levels add more modules, so the code gets denser. M is right for most uses; pick H if you plan to put a logo in the middle or print on rough material.
Do these QR codes expire or track scans?
No. The code contains the data itself, not a redirect through a service, so it works for ever and nothing is logged. The trade-off is that you cannot change the destination later. If you need that, point the code at a short URL on your own domain that you control.
