Choosing
Which website platform should you choose?
Start with who will maintain the site. A hosted builder such as Wix, Squarespace or Webflow suits a small website that you want to run yourself. You give up some control over the code and speed, though, and moving away later can mean rebuilding the site. That trade-off is worth considering before you put a large amount of content into the platform.
A custom-coded site in Next.js suits a design that needs to work beyond template limits, with a developer available for structural changes. A headless setup adds a separate content editor to a custom front end. It suits heavier editing needs, but there are more parts to host and maintain.
A custom design is useful when your brand, content or audience calls for something specific. An adapted template can fit a simpler site with a tight brief, provided it is reworked around your real content. We learn how your team works before recommending WordPress or Next.js, so the editing arrangements are part of the choice.
Local
What Markham businesses need from a website
Markham has technology and life-sciences companies, including businesses developing products. If you are launching a product, your site needs a plain explanation of what it does and a clear way for interested visitors to join a waitlist or book a demo.
Business services are part of Markham’s economy. For a law, accounting or consulting practice, separate pages for services and partners give visitors room to check expertise and credentials before they call. Your page structure should make those details easy to find.
Markham shopping centres include Chinese and East Asian-oriented businesses. If you receive enquiries through your site, decide who gets each message, what the confirmation says and whether mobile visitors should see a WhatsApp or click-to-call button. Those choices belong in the build.
Rules
What a website in Canada has to handle
Ontario businesses and non-profits with 50 or more employees must meet WCAG 2.0 Level AA for public websites and relevant web content, with exceptions for live captions and pre-recorded audio descriptions. We agree an accessibility target in the brief and build towards it; the W3C encourages using the latest WCAG version.
If your site collects sign-ups for commercial electronic messages, we set up a consent choice and an unsubscribe mechanism, with sender identification and a current mailing address. That gives the sign-up and message design the elements required by Canada’s anti-spam rules.
How it runs
How a website project runs with us
We work remotely from India over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is ahead of Eastern Time, and the gap changes with daylight saving. The shared board keeps decisions and feedback visible across the time difference.
- 01
Discover
We learn about your business, audience and goals. You help us agree the scope, including what the site needs to do and who will be responsible for the content.
- 02
Plan
We prepare wireframes before visual design. You review what appears on each page and its order, leaving decisions about colours until the visual design stage.
- 03
Design and build
We create page designs for desktop and mobile, refine them with your feedback, then build the site and test it on real devices and browsers.
- 04
Check
You proofread every page, submit each form and confirm who receives its messages. This gives you a chance to catch small errors before visitors encounter them.
- 05
Launch and care
We set up the domain, email, analytics and search tools, then provide ongoing support. You receive a walkthrough for your team.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Bring what you have, and note what still needs preparing.
- Your site’s goal, such as quote requests or job applications, and who handles each enquiry.
- A ranked list of services or products to feature in the navigation and home page.
- Real photos of your team, premises and finished work; book photography ahead if you need it.
- A folder of case studies, permitted client logos, testimonials, certifications and memberships.
- Login details for your domain, hosting, email, analytics and Search Console, or the name of the person who holds them.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline
The work changes with the content and design decisions in your brief.
Page templates
Distinct layouts need separate design and build work; pages sharing a template take less work.
Content readiness
Copy and photos ready to publish keep the work smaller; copywriting, photography or translation add to the scope.
Migration
Moving blog posts, news archives and downloadable files from an old site adds transfer and checking work.
Brand readiness
An existing logo and style guide reduce design effort compared with deciding the logo, colours and typefaces during the project.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Markham
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to have a website built?
There is no fixed price. The scope changes with the page designs and feedback needed, the content editor your team requires, and the forms or contact routes included. We agree the scope with you before preparing a quote, so those decisions are visible before work begins.
Should we choose WordPress or a custom website?
Choose based on how your team will edit the site. WordPress suits frequent content editing; a custom Next.js site can still include an editor and offers faster pages and tighter security. Decide who will make updates and how often before settling on a platform.
What search work is included in the build?
We prepare page titles and descriptions, heading structure, an XML sitemap and structured data as part of the build. We also account for page load times. Check the development indexing settings before launch: an indexing block left in place can keep the new site out of search results.
Will we own our website?
Yes. You own the domain, content and code, with no lock-in. Keep the domain and hosting accounts in your business’s name and grant access to the people working on the site. That way, control of the accounts stays with you when working arrangements change.
What should we manage after launch?
Assign someone to update news, projects and job posts. You should also measure enquiries in analytics: track form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks as conversions, then check which pages visitors started from. Those checks give you a practical basis for deciding what to update next.
