Choosing
Should you choose WordPress, a custom site or a website builder?
WordPress suits a team that publishes often and wants to edit most of the site itself. Its plugin selection gives you options for extending the site, though someone needs to keep those plugins and the rest of the installation updated for security. A hosted builder such as Wix, Squarespace or Webflow suits a small site an owner wants to run alone. You give up some control over code and speed, and a later move away can mean rebuilding.
A custom design fits when your brand, content or audience needs something specific. An adapted template can suit a simple site with a tight brief, provided the design is reworked around your actual content. A headless setup pairs a custom front end with a separate editor; it suits heavy editing alongside a need for speed, with more parts to host and maintain. We recommend WordPress or a custom Next.js site after learning how your team works.
Local
What Ajax organisations need from a website
Engineering is represented among Ajax’s major employers. If you run an engineering firm, give prospective clients a project portfolio with photographs and details of the work, so they have something concrete to assess before contacting you.
Ajax has shopping centres, including Ajax Plaza and Harwood Place Mall. A shop taking enquiries needs to decide where its contact form sends messages, who receives them and what the visitor sees after submitting it.
Ajax also has high schools and elementary schools. For a school site, an editor for news and pages gives staff a practical way to keep information current without training.
Rules
What a website project in Canada needs to handle
For Ontario businesses and non-profits with 50 or more employees, public websites and covered web content must meet WCAG 2.0 Level AA, apart from live captions and pre-recorded audio descriptions. We agree an accessibility target in the brief and build against that target; the W3C encourages use of the latest WCAG version.
If you send commercial email, consent affects the sign-up form. We set up a consent field and include sender identification, a current mailing address and an unsubscribe mechanism in the email setup.
How it runs
How a website project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is ahead of Eastern Time, and the difference changes with daylight saving; the shared board lets you leave feedback for us to pick up across the time difference.
- 01
Discover
Tell us who buys from you, why they choose you and what visitors should do. We learn your goals and agree the scope with you.
- 02
Plan
We prepare wireframes before visual design. Review the content and its order at this stage; colours come later.
- 03
Design
We create the sitemap and page designs for desktop and mobile, then refine them with your feedback.
- 04
Check
Before launch, proofread each page, submit each form and confirm who receives the messages.
- 05
Launch
We set up your domain, email, analytics and Search Console, then walk your team through the handover.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Bring what you have, and note what still needs preparing.
- Your logo in SVG, AI or EPS, plus brand colours and fonts.
- A ranked list of the services or products you want to feature.
- Real photographs of your team, premises and finished work.
- Case studies, permitted client logos, testimonials and certifications in one folder.
- Your main goal, such as quote requests, and who handles each enquiry.
- Account details for the domain, hosting, email and analytics, or the name of the person who holds them.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and work involved
The scope shapes the design, build and checking work.
Page templates
Distinct layouts need more design and build work than pages sharing a template.
Features
Booking, member logins, multiple languages and CRM connections add design, build and testing work.
Existing content
Moving blog posts, news archives and downloadable files adds migration and checking work.
Brand readiness
An existing logo and style guide save design work compared with deciding the logo, colours and typefaces during the project.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Ajax
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much should I pay someone to build my website?
There is no fixed price. The page designs in scope, the content you need to gather and how much real copy is ready all affect the work. Service descriptions, team bios, case studies and photos need attention early; placeholder text can leave layouts needing changes. Once we agree the scope, ask us for a free quote.
Can a custom website still have an editor?
Yes. A custom Next.js site can include an editor, while WordPress suits teams that want to edit a lot of content themselves. Next.js offers a faster and more secure custom option. We recommend a platform after understanding how your team works and what it needs to update.
Can you use our existing brand?
Yes. We build on your existing logo, colours and fonts, and prepare brand assets for the web where needed. That gives us a starting point for the page design while keeping your existing identity visible across the site.
Will I own the website?
Yes. You own the domain, content and code, with no lock-in. Keep the domain and hosting accounts in your business’s name and grant access to the people working on the site; that way you retain control of the accounts themselves.
What happens after the website launches?
We offer ongoing support after launch. Your team should also decide who will update news, projects and job posts. In analytics, track form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks as conversions, and check which pages people started from when they made contact.
