Choosing
Should you choose a website builder, WordPress or a custom site?
A hosted builder such as Wix, Squarespace or Webflow suits a small site you want to run yourself. It gives you less control over the code and speed, though, and moving away later can mean rebuilding the site. Consider that before putting a large amount of content into a builder.
WordPress suits a team that publishes often and wants to edit most of the site itself. Its plugin selection gives you options, but the site needs regular updates to stay secure. A custom Next.js site is faster and more secure and can still include an editor for your team.
You also have a design choice. An adapted template fits a simple site with a tight brief, provided the layout is reworked around your actual content. A custom design fits a brand, audience or content that needs a more specific approach. We recommend a platform after learning how your team works.
Local
What Kingston organisations need from a website
Health care and education are part of Kingston's economy, and the city is a regional centre for both. A clinic or appointment-based practice needs service pages, practitioner profiles and opening hours, with a booking or call option that works on a phone.
The local trucking and logistics warehousing industry includes suppliers that need to explain their capabilities to other businesses. A useful site gives those buyers clear information and a quote form that asks for enough detail to respond.
Downtown businesses and organisations involved in events need visitors to find relevant information without scanning a long list of pages. Clear service pages are also easier for the team to keep current.
Rules
What a website project in Canada needs to handle
Ontario businesses and non-profits with 50 or more employees have accessibility requirements for public websites and web content posted after 1 January 2012. WCAG 2.0 Level AA applies, with exceptions for live captions and pre-recorded audio descriptions. We agree an accessibility target in the brief and design the pages against it; the W3C encourages using the latest WCAG version.
If you collect sign-ups for commercial electronic messages, consent and the messages themselves need attention. We set up a consent field, sender identification with a current mailing address, and an unsubscribe mechanism.
How it runs
How a website project runs with us
We work remotely from India over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is ahead of Eastern Time, with the gap narrowing during daylight saving. The shared board keeps decisions and feedback available across the time difference, and you talk directly to the people designing and building your site.
- 01
Discovery
You explain who buys from you, why they choose you and what visitors should do. We use those answers to shape the sitemap.
- 02
Wireframes
We arrange the content on each page. Your feedback at this stage focuses on what belongs where and what takes priority.
- 03
Build
We develop the site in code or with a content management system your team can edit, then test it on real devices and browsers.
- 04
Review
You proofread each page, submit each form and confirm who receives the messages before launch.
- 05
Launch and care
We handle the launch setup and offer ongoing support after the site goes live.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Bring what you have, including the decisions your team still needs to make.
- Your logo in SVG, AI or EPS, plus brand colours and fonts, or a note that these need creating.
- A ranked list of the services or products you want to feature.
- Sites you like and dislike, with a short reason for each choice.
- Login details for your domain, hosting, email, analytics and Search Console, or the name of the person who holds them.
- Real photos of your team, premises and finished work.
- Your main goal for the site and the person who handles each kind of enquiry.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timing of a website?
The scope and the material available to start with shape the work.
Features
Booking, calculators, member logins, multiple languages and CRM connections add design, development and testing work.
Content readiness
Copy and photos ready to publish keep the scope smaller; writing, photography or translation add work.
Existing content
Moving blog posts, news archives and downloadable files from an old site adds migration and checking.
Brand readiness
An existing logo and style guide reduce design work compared with deciding the logo, colours and typefaces during the project.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Kingston
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to have a website built?
There is no fixed price. The scope affects the work: gathering service descriptions, photos and other content takes effort, while a separate front end and content editor add hosting and maintenance components. The pages, forms and launch setup also need owners. We agree the scope together before proceeding.
Can you use our existing brand?
Yes. We build on your existing logo, colours and fonts, and prepare brand assets for the web where needed. It also helps to have real page copy ready for design review: headings and paragraphs can change the space a layout needs, so placeholder text can leave you with unexpected changes later.
What is included in the website build?
The build includes an editor your team can use for pages, news, projects and careers, as well as search setup. We include metadata, structured data and a sitemap on a fast-loading site. At the outset, assign an owner to each part of the project so decisions do not get lost.
Will we own the website?
Yes. You own your domain, content and code, with no lock-in. Keep the domain and hosting accounts in your business's name and grant access to the people working on the site. That way, your business retains control of its accounts when the project is handed over.
What should we do after the site launches?
Choose someone to keep news, projects and job posts current, and measure the enquiries the site receives. In analytics, track form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks as conversions, then check which pages those visitors started from. That gives your team useful information for reviewing the site.
