Choosing
Should you choose WordPress, a custom site or a website builder?
WordPress fits a team that publishes often and wants to edit most of the site itself. Its choice of plugins gives you ways to add features, though the site needs regular updates to stay secure. Consider who will take responsibility for those updates alongside the work of publishing new pages.
A custom site built in Next.js suits a business that wants fast pages, tight security and a design without template limits. It also suits a team happy to involve a developer when the structure needs to change. We recommend an approach after learning how your team works and what it needs to edit.
A hosted builder such as Wix, Squarespace or Webflow suits a small site that an owner wants to run alone. The trade-off is less control over code and speed; moving away from the platform later can mean rebuilding. Think about who will maintain the site before choosing the tool.

What Burlington organisations need from their websites
Burlington has businesses in food processing, packaging, electronics and other industrial sectors. For a manufacturer or supplier, we would plan capability or product pages, space for certifications and downloadable specifications, and a quote form that collects enough detail for your team to respond.
Burlington's public elementary and secondary schools are part of the Halton District School Board. A school site needs pages that people can scan and enquiry routes that reach the right recipient. We would agree what each form confirms and which inbox receives its messages.
Burlington's summer festivals attract visitors. For an organiser, an editable news area gives the team a place to publish updates alongside the pages visitors use to find event information.
Rules
What a website project in Canada needs to handle
For an Ontario business or non-profit with 50 or more employees, the accessibility requirement covers public websites and web content posted after 1 January 2012. The standard is WCAG 2.0 Level AA, with exceptions for live captions and pre-recorded audio descriptions. We plan and build the public pages against those requirements.
If you send commercial electronic messages, consent affects the sign-up form and the messages themselves. We set up consent collection and an unsubscribe mechanism, and include sender identification and a current mailing address in the messages. Your team also needs a process for acting on unsubscribe requests.
How it runs
How a website project runs with us
We work remotely from India using video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is 9h to 12h30m ahead of Canada in winter; Eastern Time moves 1 hour closer during daylight saving time. The shared board gives us a place to keep decisions and feedback moving across that difference.

Discover
We learn about your business, audience and goals, then agree the scope with you. Tell us who buys from you, why they choose you and what you want visitors to do.
- 02
Plan and design
We arrange the content in wireframes before working on visual design. You review the page priorities first, then check each page on a phone as well as a desktop screen.
- 03
Build and test
We build the agreed site or content-managed version and test it on real devices and browsers. You review the work as it takes shape.
- 04
Check
You proofread every page, submit each form and confirm who receives its messages. This gives your team a chance to catch errors before visitors see them.
- 05
Launch
We set up the domain, email, analytics and Search Console, then walk your team through the site.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Bring what you have, and note what still needs preparing.
- Your goal for the site and the person who handles each type of enquiry.
- A ranked list of services or products, so the pages lead with your priorities.
- Vector logo files, brand colours and fonts, or a note that these need creating.
- Real photos of your team, premises and finished work.
- Case studies, testimonials, certifications and client logos you have permission to show.
- Sites you like and dislike, with a short reason for each choice.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline of your website
The scope determines the design, build and checking work involved.
Page templates
Distinct layouts need separate design and build work; pages sharing a template require less of it.
Features
Booking, calculators, member logins, multiple languages or a CRM connection add design, development and testing.
Existing content
Moving blog posts, news archives and downloadable files adds migration and checking work.
Brand readiness
An existing logo and style guide reduce the design work compared with deciding the logo, colours and typefaces during the project.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Burlington
Page updated 5 November 2026
Is a professionally developed website still worth it?
It is worth considering when you have a clear action for visitors to take and someone ready to follow up. After launch, track form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks in analytics, including the pages they started from. Decide who will keep news, projects and job posts current as well.
How much does it cost to have a website built?
There is no fixed price. The work involved in gathering service descriptions, case studies and photos affects the scope, as does a separate content editor paired with a custom front end. Preparing brand assets for the web also adds work when needed. We send a free quote once the scope is agreed.
Can a custom website still have an editor?
Yes. A custom Next.js site can include an editor, so choosing a custom build does not mean your team has to ask a developer to change every piece of content. WordPress is another option for teams that edit a lot themselves. We make a recommendation after understanding how your team works.
What search setup is included in the build?
We prepare page titles and descriptions, a clear heading structure, an XML sitemap and structured data, alongside fast-loading pages. Before launch, the site also needs a check for an indexing block left over from development. Missing titles or a sitemap can otherwise get in the way of search indexing.
Will I own my website and its accounts?
Yes. You own the domain, content and code. Hold the domain and hosting accounts in your business's name and grant access to the people working on the site. That keeps control of the accounts with your business when you need changes or decide to work with someone else.
