What you get

What’s included in Shopify development

  • Store setup

Theme, products, collections, shipping, taxes and payments configured for your market.

  • Custom theme

A theme designed around your brand and built for speed on mobile.

  • Apps & integrations

Reviews, subscriptions, ERP, accounting and WhatsApp connected and tested.

  • Migration

Products, customers and orders moved from WooCommerce, Magento or another platform with redirects in place.

  • Search-ready build

Clean product URLs, structured data and fast pages from launch.

  • Training & handover

Your team learns to run orders, products and discounts on its own.

Tools we use: Shopify, Liquid, Shopify Functions, Hydrogen, Klaviyo.

Choosing

Which Shopify setup should you choose?

A theme-based store gives you the Shopify theme editor and supports apps that add features through the theme. A headless storefront using Hydrogen or Next.js can suit a content-led brand or an unusual buying flow. The trade-off is that you give up the theme editor, and apps built to add features through a theme may not work on the storefront. Think about who will make everyday content changes before choosing that route.

If you sell in several countries, a single store can use markets for local-currency pricing, translated content and international domains. Separate stores are worth considering when each country needs its own catalogue or team, or when you need payouts in different currencies. The choice affects how you organise the catalogue and manage the people who work on it, so bring those requirements into the discussion early.

Payment choice affects running costs too. A third-party gateway carries an extra Shopify transaction fee, even when Shopify Payments is also active. If Shopify Payments is unavailable to your business, compare the total cost per order across the gateways available to you. We help you choose the scope after learning about your customers and goals.

Local

What Los Angeles businesses need from their stores

Fashion and apparel are part of the Los Angeles economy. For a clothing brand, product choices need a clear structure: Shopify supports up to three options, such as size, colour and material. A further choice, such as engraving text or a custom length, needs line item properties in the theme or an app. That decision affects how you present the product and collect the buyer’s choice.

Los Angeles is also a manufacturing centre. A manufacturer selling products online may need dimensions or care instructions displayed in a consistent place on each product page. Metafields hold those details as structured information, and the theme can show them in their own section. Your staff then have a defined place to maintain the details instead of adding them to the main description.

Rules

What a United States store needs to handle

Statewide sales tax applies in many US states, while Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire and Oregon have no statewide sales tax. We configure the store’s tax settings for the markets you sell in, alongside your shipping and payment settings. Have your business details and policies ready for that setup.

Commercial email needs a valid physical postal address and a clear opt-out, with requests honoured within the required window. If your store uses email flows, we connect them to the store data and set them up with those requirements in mind.

How it runs

How a Shopify project runs with us

We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is ahead of Pacific time, with the gap changing during daylight saving. The shared board gives you a place to leave feedback and follow the work across that difference.

  1. 01

    Discover

We learn about your business, customers and goals, then agree the store scope with you. Bring the buying flow and catalogue questions you want to resolve.

  2. 02

    Design

We prepare desktop and mobile page designs. You review and refine them with us before theme code is written, so the layout is agreed before the build moves forward.

  3. 03

    Access

The store stays in your account. You approve our collaborator access, choose its permissions and can remove them when you need to.

  4. 04

    Build and review

We work on an unpublished theme copy. You preview and approve it before publication, while the live store continues trading.

  5. 05

    Launch

We connect the domain, remove the store password, switch payments to live and import redirects. A real test order is placed and then refunded.

Checklist

What to have ready before we talk

These materials give us a clearer picture of your store and the work involved.

  • A Shopify account and plan in your business’s own name and billing.
  • A product sheet with titles, descriptions, prices, SKUs, barcodes, weights, options and stock by location.
  • Business and bank details for your payment gateway, plus shipping, returns, privacy and terms policies. Review any generated templates before use.
  • A list of current or planned apps and tools, with what each needs to do.
  • For a migration, product, customer and order exports, plus the URLs bringing the most traffic and sales.

Cost & time

What affects the cost and work involved?

The scope determines how much design, development and testing your store needs.

  • Theme route

Adjusting an existing theme involves less work than designing and building a custom theme for your brand.

  • Catalogue structure

Extra product choices, metafield-driven specifications, bundles and made-to-order options add setup and theme work.

  • Business logic

Custom rules add development and testing. Custom apps containing Shopify Function APIs need Shopify Plus.

  • Connected systems and markets

ERP, accounting, warehouse or marketplace connections add work, particularly with two-way stock and price sync. Markets with their own prices, translations and shipping rates add configuration.

Avoid

Mistakes to avoid with Shopify development

  • Missing redirects

Shopify product and collection paths change during a migration. Prepare a full old-to-new URL map and import it at launch; redirects only work from URLs that no longer load a page.

  • Editing the live theme

A mistake is visible to visitors immediately. Duplicate the theme, make changes on the copy and preview it before publishing.

  • Inconsistent product data

Loose tags, product types and vendors can put products in the wrong automated collections or hide them from filters. Agree a consistent approach before populating those fields.

  • Leaving defaults in place

Review demo content, placeholder policies and notification wording before launch so buyers see information written for your store.

Questions

Page updated 5 November 2026

How much does it cost to hire a Shopify developer?

There is no fixed price for the work. The main drivers include a custom theme, the apps and integrations you need, and whether products, customers and orders must be migrated from another platform. We agree the scope with you before setting out the work.

Can I hire you to build a Shopify store my staff can run?

Yes. We can build a store for a first-time online seller and hand it over with training for your team. Your staff learn to manage orders, products and discounts themselves, without needing to manage hosting, security or software updates.

Should I use an app or commission custom code?

It depends on the feature and how closely it needs to fit your process. Apps add features quickly, but bring recurring fees, extra scripts and dependence on the app maker. Custom code or a custom app can fit a specific need, but must be maintained as Shopify changes.

Can you customise the Shopify checkout?

Yes, within Shopify’s checkout options. Shopify runs the checkout itself, and standard customisation is available from the Basic plan up. Apps that change the information, shipping and payment steps are limited to Shopify Plus, so identify any required changes before selecting a plan.

Will I own the store after the project?

Yes. You own your domain, content and code, so you are not locked to the team that built the store. It is also worth reviewing staff and collaborator access from time to time and removing access that is no longer used.

What support is available after launch?

Ongoing support follows launch from the same people who designed and built your store. You can also use Shopify reports to review conversion rate, cart abandonment, average order value and returning customers, and Search Console to check organic clicks and product-page indexing.
