Choosing
Should you choose WordPress or a custom website?
WordPress suits a team that publishes often and wants to edit most of the site itself. Its plugins offer a wide choice of features, but someone needs to keep the site updated for security. Before choosing it, decide who will be responsible for publishing and maintaining the content.
A custom-coded site in Next.js suits a business that wants fast pages, tight security and a design without template limits. The trade-off is that you need to be comfortable asking a developer to make structural changes. That is a useful distinction if your team expects to change the way pages are organised after launch.
A custom site can still have an editor. WordPress gives a content-heavy team more direct control over edits, while Next.js offers a faster, more secure build. We recommend an approach after learning how your team works and what it needs to change on the site.
Local
What Los Angeles businesses need from a website
Los Angeles has businesses in technology, entertainment, fashion, international trade and tourism. A technology startup launching a product or raising money needs a plain explanation of what the product does, with a route to join a waitlist or book a demo. That gives visitors a clear next step after they have understood the offer.
Los Angeles is a major manufacturing centre. A manufacturer or supplier needs capability and product pages that help a buyer assess the work, alongside certifications and downloadable specifications. A quote form should ask for enough detail for the team to respond properly. Agree who receives those requests and what the confirmation message says before the form is built.
Rules
What a US website project needs to handle
US guidance says the ADA covers the online goods and services of businesses open to the public, and identifies WCAG as helpful guidance. Agree an accessibility target in your brief so it can guide page design and review. We set up a clear heading structure as part of the search-ready build; your target should also be considered across the rest of the site. WCAG has A, AA and AAA levels, and its publisher encourages use of the latest version.
How it runs
How your website project runs with us
We are a studio in India and work remotely through video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is 13h30m ahead of Pacific time in winter and 1 hour less during daylight saving time. The shared board gives both teams a place to keep work and feedback visible across that difference.
- 01
Discover
Tell us about your business, audience and goals. We agree the scope with you before design begins.
- 02
Plan
Review wireframes for what belongs on each page and the order in which it appears. This is the stage to discuss content and priorities, before colours.
- 03
Build
We develop the site in code or with a content management system your team can edit, and test it on real devices and browsers.
- 04
Check
Proofread each page, submit every form and confirm who receives its messages. This catches small errors visitors would otherwise see.
- 05
Launch
We set up your domain, email, analytics and Search Console, then walk your team through the handover.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
These materials help us understand what the site needs to do and who will look after it.
- Your services or products, ranked by business priority.
- The goal for the site and the person handling each enquiry type.
- Your logo in SVG, AI or EPS, plus brand colours and fonts.
- Sites you like and dislike, with a reason for each choice.
- Photos of your team, premises and finished work.
- Account details for your domain, hosting, email, analytics and Search Console, or the name of the person who holds them.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timing of website design
The work involved depends on what is ready and what the finished site needs to do.
Features
Booking, calculators, member logins, multiple languages and CRM connections add design, build and testing work.
Migration
Old blog posts, news archives and downloadable files need moving and checking.
Brand readiness
An existing logo and style guide reduce design work compared with deciding colours and typefaces during the project.
Content setup
A custom front end paired with a separate editor supports heavy editing, but adds components to host and maintain.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid when building your website
Waiting until the end for copy
Use real headings and paragraphs in the design. Placeholder text can hide layout problems.
Reviewing only on a large screen
Check every page on a phone before approving it.
Copying every old page
Keep the pages visitors need, with clear service information that your team can maintain.
Leaving search checks until launch
Check page titles and the sitemap, and remove any indexing block left from development.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Los Angeles
Page updated 5 November 2026
Is it still worth paying for a website?
Yes, when the site supports a clear business goal and someone keeps it current. Track form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks as conversions, then check which pages visitors started from. Assign someone to update news, projects and job posts so visitors do not encounter an apparently abandoned site.
How much does it cost to have a website built?
There is no fixed price. Two drivers are the readiness of your copy and photos, and whether you need a custom design or an adapted template. Copywriting, photography or translation adds to the scope. We send a free quote once the scope is agreed.
Should I use a website builder instead?
A hosted builder can suit a small site you want to run yourself. Wix, Squarespace and Webflow are examples. You give up some control over code and speed, though, and moving away from the platform later can mean rebuilding the site. Consider that trade-off before committing.
What does the design and development work include?
It includes a sitemap, wireframes and page designs for desktop and mobile, refined with your feedback. We also build in Next.js or WordPress and provide an editor for pages, news, projects and careers. Your team can use that editor without training.
Can you use our existing brand?
Yes. We build on your existing logo, colours and fonts, and prepare brand assets for the web where needed. Having those assets available gives the design work a starting point, so you can review how your existing identity appears across the new pages.
Will we own the website after launch?
Yes. You own the domain, the content and the code. That means those parts of the site remain yours after the work is complete. Keep access to them with your team so the business retains control of its website and the material on it.
