Choosing
Should you outsource a project or add developers to your team?
Choose a fixed-scope project when you can define the build, its requirements and the test for accepting it. You get an agreed piece of work delivered end to end. That takes preparation: the more precisely you describe what is included, the easier it is for both teams to assess the finished work. If requirements change during the project, put the change through a request so its effect on the scope is visible.
Dedicated developers suit ongoing work where priorities shift. Your team directs their work, so you retain flexibility over what they pick up next. Plan for the management effort too: someone on your side needs to set priorities and make decisions. This arrangement is useful when the work cannot be described as a single stable build at the outset.
A single project gives you a contained way to test the relationship. An ongoing arrangement gives an outside team more opportunity to learn your standards, products and customers. We help you choose by learning about your business, audience and goals before agreeing the scope with you.
Rules
What an Australian outsourcing project has to handle
If your organisation is covered by the Privacy Act and gives personal information to an overseas contractor, Australian Privacy Principle 8 generally applies. Before any information is shared, identify what the build team needs to access and put the handling requirements in the contract. We agree the confidentiality and access terms with you, set up an individual account for each person, and use the least permissions each person needs with two-factor sign-in.
Guidance expects an enforceable contract requiring the overseas recipient to handle personal information in accordance with the applicable principles. We document those requirements in the project’s contract, so the agreed data-handling obligations sit alongside the practical access arrangements.
How it runs
How white-label development runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. IST is 4h30m behind Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Hobart and Brisbane; the difference changes for some locations during daylight saving time. Written notes on progress, blockers and open questions keep work moving between calls, so you can respond at the start of your day.
- 01
Kick-off
We agree the tools, overlap hours, update format, escalation contacts and definition of done in writing. You identify who can answer questions and approve the work.
- 02
Design
We prepare desktop and mobile page or screen designs. You review them and give feedback before code is written.
- 03
Build
For a fixed-scope project, we deliver the work end to end and show you progress in weekly demos. You can check the work against the agreed scope as it develops.
- 04
Review
You check the staging site against the acceptance criteria. Send feedback as tickets with screenshots or screen recordings so we can see what needs attention.
- 05
Handover
We transfer code, credentials, documentation and deployment steps. You have what your team or another development partner needs to carry on with the work.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Gather the information your delivery partner will need to understand the work and its boundaries.
- A written briefInclude goals, users, must-have features, examples you like and what is out of scope.
- Your accountsHave client-owned code hosting, cloud hosting, domain and third-party service accounts ready for the work.
- Client requirementsBring the end client’s requirements, approval steps and any subcontracting, confidentiality or data terms.
- Confirmed requirementsAsk the delivery team to repeat back its understanding of the brief so gaps are visible before work proceeds.
- Delivery responsibilitiesAsk who will do the work and whether any part will go to third parties; record the answer in the contract.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timing of outsourced development
The effort depends on what you need built, the condition of existing work and the standards the finished product must meet.
Existing systems and code
Integrations and the condition of code taken over from another team affect how much work there is to understand and change.
Quality requirements
Agree test coverage, accessibility, performance targets and the browsers and devices to support. Each belongs in the scope of the work to be checked.
Working arrangement
Dedicated developers work in your tools and stand-ups with an agreed hours overlap. Plan for the direction and coordination that arrangement needs from your team.
After-launch responsibilities
Agree who handles bugs, hosting, updates and monitoring, and how quickly bug reports are answered. That makes the ongoing work visible when you plan the engagement.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid when outsourcing development
Choosing on rate alone
Compare the whole effort, including the potential cost of poor estimates, rework and the time your own team spends managing delivery.
Leaving assets in vendor accounts
Keep repositories, hosting and domains under accounts your client owns. Access stays clear if the project changes hands or the engagement ends.
Hearing about problems late
Agree that blockers and slips are reported as soon as they are known. Your team then has an opportunity to make a decision before the surprise grows.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Australia
Page updated 5 November 2026
What is white label web development?
It is development delivered for your client under your agency’s name. We build websites and apps for agencies in that arrangement. You can keep your own client-facing relationship while adding delivery capacity for the work you have sold; agree the scope and communication arrangements at the outset so both teams know how the engagement will run.
How much does white-label development cost?
There is no fixed price for every project. The clarity of the scope and the mix of design, front-end, back-end or mobile skills affect the effort needed. A well-specified build can be estimated more tightly; open-ended work needs time-based billing or discovery before an estimate can be made.
Is outsourcing a good fit for my business?
It can fit when you have a defined piece of work or need ongoing outside capacity and can agree the standards and communication rules. A software company might outsource a mobile app or admin area, while an e-commerce brand might ask an outside team to handle store development, integrations and campaign pages.
Will my client know an outside team is doing the work?
That is a choice you make when setting up the engagement. Fully white-label work keeps the outsourcing partner invisible to your client. In an open arrangement, the partner can join client calls, which can help decisions move faster. Decide who will attend calls and how questions will reach the people making approvals.
Who owns the code after the project?
You receive code ownership and access. We also provide an NDA for the engagement. Set out what happens to the code and access when the work ends, so your agency can continue to use the delivered work and knows what it will receive at handover.
What happens after launch?
We set up the domain, email, analytics and search, followed by ongoing support. After each project, review the code quality, accuracy of estimates and communication with your team. Use that review to decide whether to continue the arrangement, expand the work or bring it in-house.
