Mobile app development company for Android in Australia
You get an Android app designed around the people who will use it, with testing across devices and a plan for release on Google Play. We scope the app, back end and admin panel together, so you can see what needs to be built. From our studio in India, we work remotely with you in Australia, from the first screens through to launch.

What you get
What’s included in Android app development
App design
Screens and flows that follow Android's design guidelines.
Build
A native or cross-platform app, tested on the devices your users have.
Back end & APIs
Accounts, data and notifications connected to your systems.

Tools we use: Kotlin, React Native, Expo, Firebase, Node.js.
Choosing
Should you build native or cross-platform?
Choose native Kotlin with Jetpack Compose when Android is your first priority, particularly if the app needs to communicate with printers, scanners, payment terminals or kiosks. It also suits work that continues in the background. You can concentrate the build on Android, with the trade-off that an iPhone app needs separate consideration.
React Native or Flutter suit a product that also needs an iPhone app. Most code is shared across the platforms, while native Kotlin modules handle Android features that the chosen framework does not cover. That gives you another route when reaching both groups of users is part of the brief.
Your audience affects the choice as well. Check website analytics or run a short survey before deciding the oldest Android version to support: reaching older versions adds work. If the app is only for your own staff, managed Google Play provides a private publishing route. Bring those decisions to discovery and we will agree the scope with you.
Market
What buyers in Australia expect from an Android app
For logistics and field-service organisations, the useful screen might be a proof-of-delivery form, a signature or an offline job list on a rugged device. Companies issuing lower-cost Android phones to staff may need private attendance, inspection or sales-order apps. Tell us which task people need to complete in the field and which devices they already carry.
If your app takes payment, we can set up a checkout that offers PayID, which uses a mobile number, email address or ABN to address a payment. We also set up card checkout without surcharges on debit, prepaid and credit card payments on the eftpos, Mastercard and Visa networks.
Rules
What an Android app project in Australia needs to handle
Accessible screens belong in the design brief. Australian guidelines recommend WCAG 2.2 Level AA as a minimum for digital goods and services. We set up screen designs with that target in mind, so accessibility is considered when the flows are designed.
From 10 December 2026, an entity covered by the Privacy Act that uses personal information in a computer program to make decisions that could significantly affect a person’s rights or interests must disclose the relevant kinds of information and decisions in its privacy policy. If your app does this, we set up the privacy policy content around those disclosures.
How it runs
How an Android app project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India time is 5h30m behind Sydney during daylight saving time, so the shared board gives you a place to review work and leave feedback between calls.

Discover
We learn about your business, audience and goals. You show us the tasks the app needs to support, and we agree the scope together before moving into the work.
- 02
Design
We create screens and flows that follow Android’s design guidelines. You review how a person moves through the app and give feedback on the proposed screens.
- 03
Build
We develop a native or cross-platform app and test it on the devices your users have. You identify the phones and tablets that should be represented in that testing.
- 04
Test
We use Google Play release tracks to share builds. Internal testing is suited to early checks; closed testing reaches an invited group, while open testing lets people join from the store.
- 05
Release
We prepare the store listing, manage the release tracks and keep the app within Google Play policy. For an update, a staged rollout lets the release be halted if crash reports rise.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
These details help us define the release and testing work.
- Organisation accountHave your D-U-N-S number, organisation name, address, phone number and website ready for Google Play.
- Public support detailsChoose a shared email address and phone number; Google Play shows them to users.
- Device listBring the phones and tablets your customers or staff use, from analytics or a quick survey.
- HardwareIdentify the exact printer, scanner or terminal models, their documentation or SDKs, and a unit we can test.
- Personal developer accountIf it is new, plan for the required closed test before a production release.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timing of Android app development
The scope determines how much design, engineering and testing the work needs.
Device range
Older Android versions and low-memory phones add testing work; a known fleet of company devices narrows the range.
Background work
Location tracking or large syncs need extra engineering because Android limits background activity.
Screen sizes
Tablet, foldable and kiosk layouts add design and testing beyond the phone layout.
Subscriptions
Google Play billing adds product setup, server-side purchase checks, failed-renewal grace periods and plan changes.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid with Android app development
Asking for notifications too early
On Android 13 and later, ask after the benefit is clear, such as after an order.
Requesting unnecessary permissions
Ask for each permission when the feature that needs it is first used.
Ignoring storage and memory
Keep the download small and test on a low-end phone, especially if users have slow connections.
Losing developer account access
Keep the account and upload key under your business’s control, with more than one administrator.

Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to develop an Android app?
There is no fixed price. The work depends on whether you need Android alone or both Android and iPhone, and on features such as background location. The latter needs extra approval, a clear disclosure before the permission prompt and a core feature that depends on it. Agree the scope before comparing quotes.
How should I choose an app development company?
Look at how the company plans testing and the Google Play release, as well as the screens it proposes. For an app with login, reviewers need reusable sign-in details that work from any location and skip one-time codes. We prepare the store listing and manage release tracks as part of the service.
Should the app support tablets as well as phones?
Choose tablet support if people need to use the app on wider screens. Android apps also run on foldables and Chromebooks, so a layout should adapt to the available space instead of stretching a phone screen. Account for Android navigation, the system back gesture and larger font settings in the design.
What is included beyond the app screens?
The work can include a back end and APIs connecting accounts, data and notifications to your systems. If people can create an account in the app, Google Play also requires an in-app route to delete the account and its data, plus a web link where they can request deletion.
Who owns the app and its code?
You own your code, content and domain, with no lock-in. For Google Play signing, Google manages and protects the app signing key, while your business keeps an upload key for submitting builds. If that upload key is lost, it can be reset. Keep those responsibilities clear when arranging your release.
What support is available after launch?
We handle updates for new Android versions, bug fixes and new features. Regular maintenance also keeps the app aligned with Google Play’s target API requirements. You can use Android vitals in Play Console to monitor crashes and freezes; high rates can affect store visibility and add a warning to the listing.
