Choosing
Should you choose cross-platform or native development?
For an app centred on accounts, forms, lists, maps, bookings, payments or content, a cross-platform build is worth considering. We use React Native to share a codebase across iOS and Android, adding native modules where a feature needs them. Shared code keeps the work focused across both platforms, while the screens still need to suit the people using each device.
Native development is a better fit when the product depends on deep device features, heavy graphics, complex background work or new platform features at launch. The trade-off is separate codebases to build and maintain. We go native when those device needs call for it. That decision should follow the tasks your app must perform, particularly where those tasks depend on the phone itself.
Flutter is another cross-platform option. It uses Dart and draws its own interface, which suits a heavily branded design that should look identical on both platforms. Your team would need to be comfortable working in Dart; consider that alongside the freedom you want over the interface.
Local
What Washington, D.C. organisations need from an app
Industry associations, non-profits and think tanks are prominent in the city. If your organisation already has a web platform that people use frequently, an app can reuse its accounts, data and backend. Staff also need a practical way to look up users and manage content without calling a developer. We can plan the app, backend and admin panel as parts of the same service.
Federal departments and agencies are based here too. A department with inspection or maintenance teams needs a different flow from a content-led organisation: staff may need forms, photos, signatures and location information on each job, with records synced to the office when a signal returns. Those tasks need to be mapped before screen design begins.
Rules
What a mobile app project in the United States has to handle
For a state or local government app, the ADA Title II rule requires WCAG 2.1 Level AA. That changes the screen design and testing work: we design the app screens with that standard in view and test the result against it, instead of leaving accessibility until the store submission.
Payment flow also follows what you sell. Stripe lists the United States as a country where businesses can sign up to accept payments. For physical goods or services used outside the app, we plan a card-gateway checkout; digital features and subscriptions used in the app have different store purchase requirements.
How it runs
How an app project runs with us
India is ahead of the eastern United States, with the gap changing between winter and daylight saving time. We keep decisions and feedback visible in the agreed project workflow so work can move between calls, without every question waiting for a live conversation.

Discover
We learn about your business, audience and goals, then agree the scope with you. Bring the task you want people to complete and the constraints already known to your team.
- 02
Design
We refine iOS and Android screens with your feedback before writing code. Review the flow as a user would, including what happens after a form or payment screen.
- 03
Prototype
Put the clickable design in front of a few customers or staff. Their feedback gives you a chance to change a screen before it has been built.
- 04
Test
Use development builds on your own phone through TestFlight or Google Play testing tracks. Share what happens during real use, not only what you see in a screen design.
- 05
Submit
We handle the listings, submission and review under your developer accounts. If the app has a login, have a working demo account and live backend ready, and leave room for fixes and resubmission.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
A few practical details will make the first scope discussion more useful.
- List the actions users must complete in the first release, in the order they will do them.
- Start developer account registration in your company name; organisation verification needs a D-U-N-S number.
- List the website, booking, CRM, ERP and payment systems involved, their APIs and who holds admin access.
- Prepare a privacy policy that matches the data the app collects; it needs links in the app and store listing.
- Keep developer accounts, signing access and the code repository in your business name.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and time of app development
The work grows with the behaviour each screen and its supporting services must handle.
Interface
Custom animation, additional languages, right-to-left scripts and tablet layouts add design and testing across screens.
User content
Posts or other user submissions need filtering, reporting, blocking and published contact details.
Offline work
Showing previously loaded information is less work than allowing edits without signal and resolving conflicts when records sync.
Notifications
A sending service, audience and timing rules, plus settings for notification categories, all need planning and implementation.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid with your app
Putting sign-up before any value
Let people explore without logging in when the app does not depend on significant account-based features. Give them a reason to create an account when they reach a task that needs one.
Asking for notification permission immediately
Ask when the benefit is clear, such as after an order. On Android 13 and later, notifications remain off until the user allows them.
Adding an analytics or advertising SDK without revisiting privacy answers: Update Google Play's Data safety form to include data collected by third-party SDKs in the app.

How much does it cost to develop an app?
There is no fixed price. Cost depends heavily on the number of user roles, real-time features such as chat or tracking, and whether a documented backend API already exists. Building a backend and admin panel from scratch adds substantial work. We discuss those requirements with you before preparing a quote.
How do I choose an app development company?
Choose a developer who can explain the complete build and its store requirements. For example, ask how account deletion will work: Google Play requires an in-app deletion path and a web request link for apps that allow account creation. Ask them to explain purchase and subscription flows for both stores too.
Can the app share data with my website?
Yes. We can build a shared backend for your app, website and admin tools, so they serve the same accounts and data. This gives you a way to manage the service across those interfaces while keeping the underlying customer information in one place.
How will we know what people do in the app?
Analytics and crash reporting belong in the first release. Tools such as Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics or Sentry show which screens people use, where they give up and which devices crash. Agreeing what to observe early gives you information to review after people start using the app.
Who owns the app code and content?
You do. You own your code, content and domain, with no lock-in. That gives your business control over those assets if you later decide to change how the app is maintained or who works on it. Ownership is worth settling before development starts.
What support is available after launch?
Launch is followed by ongoing support for bug fixes, updates for new iOS and Android versions, and new features. Some JavaScript and content fixes can go out over the air, while native code changes and new permissions still need a store release. Review retention and crash-free rates alongside that work.
